Digital collection building : a case study
The Digital Library plays an important role in creating, preserving,
indexing, and retrieving the various forms of digital assets. The
ISRO HQ Digital Library provides cost effective facility for
systematic archiving of research results and other
documents of the institution. This paper discusses about
various E-collections at ISRO HQ Library and explains the
infrastructure (Hardware, Software and Network) and other
requirements for creating and managing E-collections. It
provides web-based mechanism to deposit and access the
same to the user community on to their desktop through
ISRO SPACENET (Intranet). This paper illustrates how
to set up Digital Library using DSpace software and how
to create different communities and under each community,
many collections and how to customize the metadata fields
according to institutional requirement
Print Media Coverage of ISRO Missions/Launches: A Ten Year (2011-2020) Study of Selected English Dailies
164-183The reporting of research and development is very important for any
organisation as it is not only simple reporting to keep the general public
updated on the developments but as it also involves critical evaluation of
different programmes and activities. The present study is the quantitative
analysis of 2382 unique news items, related to 59 ISRO missions
launched during the period 2011-2020, retrieved from the Bangalore
edition of four popular English print newspapers namely Deccan Herald,
The Hindu, The New Indian Express, and The Times of India.
The collected data was further categorised into different missions
based on their applications for analysis. By applying one full credit
for each mission covered in the news items, a total of 3729 news
items were found. Of all the ISRO missions launched during the
period of study, GSLV-MkIII-M1/Chandrayaan-2 had the highest
news coverage with 742 (19.89 per cent) news items followed by
PSLV-C25/Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan) with 601 (16.12 per
cent) news items. The study further observed that there is no
uniformity in reporting and coverage among the selected newspapers

Conference proceedings as a source of information in LIS research in India: A study based on citations
346-354Twelve
thousand five hundred and thirty six references appended to 1012 papers
published in four Indian LIS journals for the period 2002-2010 revealed that
there are 999 conference papers in all with an average of 0.99 conference paper

Applied Engineering in Agriculture: A five-year (2004-2008) citation study
140-145Analyses 10553 citations appended to 538 papers published during 2004–2008 in the journal Applied Engineering in Agriculture. On average, there were approximately 20 citations per paper. Out of 10553 citations appended, 2263 (21.44%)citations appeared in the year 2006 closely followed by 2231 (21.14%) citations in the year 2005. Out of 1775 authors whocontributed a total of 538 papers, 1376 (77.52%) were affiliated to institutions located in USA. Also examines year-wise distribution of papers, authorship pattern, length of papers, degree of collaboration among authors, year-wise appearance of citations, form-wise distribution of resources used by the authors and ranked list of authors by geographical location
Scientometric Analysis of Contributions to the Journal College and Research Libraries (1997-2011)
In this study an attempt is made to investigate the scholarly communications in College & Research Libraries journal during the period of 1997-2011 and to study the key dimensions of its publication trends. For the analysis of the study 15 volumes containing 90 issues have been taken up for evaluation. Necessary bibliometric measures are applied to analyse different publication parameters. It is found that, contributions of articles to each volume of College & Research Libraries is nearly consistent and on an average 32 articles have been published every year. Single authored articles are found to be the highest followed by two and three authored articles. The average degree of collaboration in College & Research Libraries is 0.57. The average author per article is 1.88 for 479 articles. Lotka’s law is tested and confers to a value of n=3.22. In all 12893 citations have been appended to 479 articles during the period 1997-2011. Journals (59.95 per cent) are the top form of source used by authors followed by books (17.32 per cent), webpages (7.44 per cent) and reports (3.95 per cent). Ranked list of prolific authors and ranked list of journals is prepared and presented in respective tables.
