Melanocytes are selectively vulnerable to UVA-mediated bystander oxidative signaling.

Long-wave UVA is the major component of terrestrial UV radiation and is also the predominant constituent of indoor sunlamps, both of which have been shown to increase cutaneous melanoma risk. Using a two-chamber model, we show that UVA-exposed target cells induce intercellular oxidative signaling to non-irradiated bystander cells. This UVA-mediated bystander stress is observed between all three cutaneous cell types (i.e., keratinocytes, melanocytes, and fibroblasts). Significantly, melanocytes appear to be more resistant to direct UVA effects compared with keratinocytes and fibroblasts, although melanocytes are also more susceptible to bystander oxidative signaling. The extensive intercellular flux of oxidative species has not been previously appreciated and could possibly contribute to the observed cancer risk associated with prolonged UVA exposure

Objective. To compare the effectiveness of supervised exercise program and Cyriax physiotherapy in the treatment of tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis). Design. Randomized clinical trial. Setting. Physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre. Subjects. This study was carried out with 20 patients, who had tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis). Intervention. Group A (n = 10) had received supervised exercise program. Group B (n = 10) was treated with Cyriax physiotherapy. All patients received three treatment sessions per week for four weeks (12 treatment sessions). Outcome measures. Pain was evaluated using a visual analogue scale (VAS), and functional status was evaluated by completion of the Tennis Elbow Function Scale (TEFS) which were recorded at base line and at the end of fourth week. Results. Both the supervised exercise program and Cyriax physiotherapy were found to be significantly effective in reduction of pain and in the improvement of functional status. The supervised exercise programme resulted in greater improvement in comparison to those who received Cyriax physiotherapy. Conclusion. The results of this clinical trial demonstrate that the supervised exercise program may be the first treatment choice for therapist in managing tennis elbow

Objective: The objective of this research is to identify the phytochemical constitutions present in Natural crude extract which obtained from Thumlappati district. Methods: Kidney stone is one of the most clinical disorder arising nowadays. They are existing due to the depletion of the urine and disproportionate execration of the components such as oxalate, phosphate, uric, cysteine, and struvite. Many alopathy medicine are not effectively curable in the case of kidney stone, consequently people are in need of traditional medicine system. Thus there is a great demand for research on potential inhibitor from natural products for dissolving kidney stone. In present work deals with an unknown crude extract collected from G. Thumlappati, Battalagundu Dindugal district Tamil Nadu. The crude extract of phytochemical are analyzed by using GCMS method. Results: Thus the sample has some bioactive compound to discharge the stone particles. So we subjected the crude extract sample to GC-MS process which reveals 210 compounds in 21 different peaks. Conclusion: This studies forms a basis for the biological characterization and importance of bioactive compounds were identified

Characterization of Hybrid Silicon Carbide and Boron Carbide Nanoparticles-Reinforced Aluminum Alloy Composites

AbstractHybrid nanocomposites based on aluminum alloy 6061 reinforced with different hybrid ratios of SiC (0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 vol. %) and B4C (fixed 0.5 vol. %) nanoparticles were successfully fabricated using ultrasonic cavitation based solidification process. The fabricated cast specimens were characterized using SEM study with EDS analysis, hardness test, tension test and impact test. The results indicate that, by the ultrasonic cavitation effects namely transient cavitation and acoustic streaming, the nano reinforcements were successfully incorporated in the aluminum matrix. SEM study with EDS validates the presence of SiC and B4C nanoparticles in the aluminum matrix. Compared to the un-reinforced alloy, the room temperature hardness and tensile strength of the hybrid composites increased quite significantly while the ductility and impact strength reduced marginally. The combination of 1.0 volume percentage SiC and 0.5 volume percentage B4C gives the superior tensile strength. The major reason for an increase in the room-temperature mechanical properties of the hybrid composites should be attributed to the larger hybrid ratio of SiC and B4C nanoparticles, the coefficient of thermal expansion mismatch between matrix and hybrid reinforcements and the dispersive strengthening effects
