    The mouth and teeth are one of the entry points for microorganisms such as fungi, bacteria and so on which can cause health problems. Oral and dental health can be achieved by implementing clean and healthy living behaviors (PHBS) oral hygiene such as brushing your teeth properly and being able to keep your toothbrush clean. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge of young children regarding the practice of maintaining oral and dental health. The method of activity that the author uses is in the form of counseling and mentoring with lecture methods, discussions, and demonstrations on how to brush your teeth properly and correctly. This activity was attended by 16 participants. The player is accompanied by the teacher to fill out the questionnaire. The results of the questionnaire showed that almost of the PKM participants had not properly implemented the behavior of maintaining oral and dental hygiene. Participants took part in this counseling enthusiastically and the results of the evaluation revealed that all participants understood oral hygiene behavior, namely knowing the practice of brushing their teeth and how to maintain cleanliness in brushing their teet

    Aflatoksin: Aspek kesehatan, metode reduksi dan deteksinya

    Food contaminant aflatoxin is a mycotoxin produced by Aspergillus flavus and A. parasiticus. This article aims to discover the pathophysiological, immunological, pharmacological, toxicity, and reduction and detection methods of aflatoxin. Kinds of literature were obtained from Research Gate, Pubmed, and Science Direct with the primary keyword “aflatoxin”. Pathophysiologically, aflatoxin-contaminated food has been proven to cause necrosis in liver cells, developing into liver cancer. Immunologically, aflatoxin decreases monocyte and dendritic cell phagocytosis, neutrophil cell ATP production, and pro-inflammatory cytokine synthesis. Aflatoxin toxicity is at the LD50 of 12-16 mg/kg b.w, causing death. Pharmacologically, 120-201 µg/kg b.w causes aflatoxicosis, in vivo studies indicated that NovaSil, Sulfarophan, and Monanthotaxis caffra leaf extract may reduce its toxicity. Aflatoxins are highly thermostable; hence, once food has been contaminated, they cannot be destroyed by normal cooking process. The control and reduction should be conducted in post-harvest handling, common physical means practiced are heating, drying, and smoking. Chemically using ozone, 0.5 sodium bisulfate, 1% sodium hydroxide, 5% acetic acid, and prochloraz. Biologically using Flavobacterium aurantiacum B-184, Bacillus velezensis DY3108, and, a consortium of Geobacillus and Tepidimicrobium bacteria. Aflatoxin can be detected using TLC, HPLC, MS, ELISA, and UHPLC-ESI MS/MS. The prevention of aflatoxin occurrence is done through good post-harvest handling, good manufacturing practices, and applying regulations accordingly to ensure food products and feed are at acceptable levels of aflatoxin

    Worm infection is a problem that can be prevented and treated through simple measures such as good sanitation practices, proper hygiene, and effective deworming treatment. This intervention is aimed at students attending Anak Tangguh School, which comprises children aged 7 to 11 years. Participants in the socialization program completed a questionnaire to assess their knowledge and habits regarding worm infections. Additionally, their height and weight were measured using a scale and stature meter. The analysis of 26 children's weight and height revealed that 22 were overweight and 10 did not meet the ideal height according to WHO standards. Following the socialization program, participants acknowledged their understanding of worm infection and its consequences, expressing their commitment to adopting a clean and healthy lifestyle

    Sosialisasi Perilaku Menjaga Kebersihan Kulit di Sekolah Anak Tangguh, Nusa Tenggara Barat

    Usia anak sekolah dasar merupakan usia yang mengekspolasi lingkungan tanpa memperhatikan kebersihan. Hal ini jika dibiarkan akan menyebabkan terjadinya infeksi patogen. Menjaga kebersihan kulit tangan dan badan menjadi prioritas untuk memutus mata rantai kontaminasi dan infeksi kuman. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi tentang menjaga kebbersihan tangan serta tubuh dengan baik dan benar. Penilaian pemahaman menjaga kebersihan kulit dilakukan dengan pengisian kuisioner sebagai pretest sebelum diberikan edukasi.  Berdasarkan pengisian kuisioner tersebut diperoleh gambaran bahwa siswa seluruhnya melakukan cuci tangan sebelum makan, mengganti baju sekolah ketoka di rumah, mandi 2 kali sehari dengan menggunakam sabun serta menggunakan handuk pribadi. Pada perilaku menucuci tangan dengan sabun setelah makan mendapat persentase kadang-kadang 25% dan selalu 85%. Siswa yang kadang-kadang keramas rambut setiap 2 hari sekali sebesar 73% dan selalu 27%. Pemakaian kaus kaki ke sekolah sebesar 44%, selainnya tidak pernah memakai kaus kaki ketika ke sekolah dan siswa yang tidak pernah memakai pakaian dalam sebesar 46%. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa sudah terbentuk perilaku yang baik, namun pada beberapa perilaku lain perlu diedukasi kembali dan pembiasaan secara terus menerus agar tercipta perilaku permane

    Karsinoma nasofaring adalah keganasan yang berasal dari epitel nasofaring dan merupakan keganasan yang sering terjadi pada keganasan kepala dan leher. Kanker nasofaring di Indonesia merupakan kanker terbanyak ke-4 setelah kanker payudara, kaker leher rahim dan kanker paru. Berdasarkan GLOBOCAN 2012 87.000 kasus baru nasofaring  muncul setiap tahunnya (dengan 61.000 pada laki - laki dan 26.000 kasus pada perempuan). 51.000 kematian akibat Karsinoma nasofaring (36.000 laki - laki dan 15.000 pada perempuan). Karsinoma nasofaring ditemukan pada pria usia produktif dan 60% berusia 25 tahun - 60 tahun (Adham et al, 2012). Kurangnya pengetahuan masyarakat tentang faktor risiko dan tanda gejala kanker nasofaring menyebabkan peningkatan angka kecacatan dan menurunnya kualitas hidup yang disebabkan karena pasien datang sudah dengan stadium kanaker nasofaring yang memiliki prognosis yang buruk. Dengan penyuluhan dan edukasi serta flyer yang berisikan informasi faktor risiko, tanda gejala dari kanker nasofaring. Keluarga pasien yang mendapatkan penyuluhan di ruang ilmiah diberikan pre test sebelum dilakukan edukasi terlebih dahulu untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan yang dimiliki dan setelah dilakukan edukasi maka diberikan post test untuk mengetahui apakah edukasi yang diberikan terserap dengan baik. Pada pre test diketahui 12 orang mendapatkan nilai dibawah 50 dan 8 orang di atas 50. Sedangkan pada post test 18 orang mendapatkan nilai diatas 50 dan 2 orang dibawah 50

    Oral and dental health education activities were carried out at Sekolah Anak Tangguh at May 12th  2023. The purpose of this counseling was to provide students with an understanding of the importance of maintaining oral and dental health. By realizing the importance of dental and oral health, it is hoped that students can avoid various diseases such as cavities, gingivitis, gum infections, canker sores, and broken teeth. In this counseling activity, information was provided regarding the steps that need to be taken to maintain good dental and oral health, including brushing your teeth regularly at least twice a day before going to bed and after breakfast, increasing the duration of brushing your teeth for two minutes so that it can remove all dirt that sticks to the teeth, choose a toothbrush with soft bristles and choose the right toothpaste. In the process of health education, various methods have been used, namely the lecture method, question and answer, and hands-on practice. With this approach, it is hoped that messages about the importance of maintaining oral health can be more easily understood and absorbed by students. The results of these activities are students who understand more about how to maintain healthy teeth and mouth properly. They also understand more about the importance of caring for and maintaining healthy teeth and mouth in order to avoid various dental health problems that can occur due to lack of care and hygiene.     Skrining Fitokimia dan Uji Aktivitas Antibakteri Madu Putih Sumbawa terhadap Bacillus megaterium

    Bacillus megaterium is a bacteria that causes human infections, causing keratitis, skin infections, brain abscesses and tissue infections. Treatment often uses chemical antibiotics. However, long-term antibiotics can cause new health problems such as resistance. Therefore, antibacterial ingredients are needed that can not only inhibit the growth of bacteria but also do not have a negative impact on health such as honey. Honey is thick, it can cure various diseases such as gastrointestinal, stomach, skin diseases, acute respiratory infections and coughs. This research aims to determine the ability of Sumbawa white honey as an antibacterial against B. megaterium. The method used in this research is paper disc diffusion. There were five treatments used in this study, between 100%, 75% and 25% honey concentrations, DMSO negative control and chloramphenicol positive control with five replications each. The results of the antibacterial activity test showed that the 100% concentration had an inhibitory zone diameter of 2.59 mm, then the 75% concentration was 1.46 while the 25% concentration was 0 mm. When compared with positive control, white honey was lower antibacterial. If it is in the white honey category, the inhibition zone category is included in the lower category.Bacillus megaterium adalah bakteri yang dilaporkan menginfeksi manusia. Infeksi akibat B. megaterium masih jarang terjadi, karena hanya lima kasus yang dilaporkan di dunia, namun bila terjadi infeksi, bakteri tersebut dapat menjadi masalah kesehatan yang serius. Penanganan medis penyakit infeksi yang disebabkan oleh bakteri biasanya dengan meminum obat yang mengandung antibiotik yang tepat dan mengobati antiseptik dengan baik. Namun penggunaan obat antibiotik dalam jangka panjang dapat menimbulkan masalah baru bagi kesehatan seperti gangguan fungsi hati, penurunan jumlah sel darah putih, munculnya alergi dan resistensi (Doron, S; Gorbach, 2020). Oleh karena itu diperlukan antibakteri yang tidak hanya dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri tetapi juga tidak berdampak negatif bagi kesehatan yaitu dengan menggunakan bahan-bahan alami salah satunya dengan pemberian madu. Madu adalah cairan kental berasa manis yang dihasilkan lebah dari nektar bunga dan diduga berkhasiat untuk menyembuhkan berbagai penyakit, seperti saluran pencernaan, lambung, penyakit kulit, infeksi saluran pernapasan akut, dan batuk, serta gangguan mata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan madu putih Sumbawa sebagai antibakteri terhadap B. megaterium. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode difusi cakram kertas. Terdapat lima perlakuan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini antara madu konsentrasi 100%, 75% dan 25%, kontrol DMSO negatif dan kontrol positif kloramfenikol dengan masing-masing lima ulangan. Hasil uji aktivitas antibakteri menunjukkan konsentrasi 100% diameter zona hambat sebesar 2,59 mm, kemudian 75% sebesar 1,46 sedangkan konsentrasi 25% sebesar 0 mm. Jika dibandingkan dengan kontrol positif, madu putih lebih rendah dengan perbandingan 1:10. Jika dalam kategori madu putih, maka kategori zona hambat termasuk dalam kategori renda
