Designing the Future: An Intelligent System for Zero-Mile Food Production by Upcycling Wastewater

The project deals with the environmental problem of water consumption. The aim of this work is to experiment the recycling of dishwasher wastewater through its reuse in growing edible vegetables or ornamental plants; this can also accomplish the valorization of nutrients present in the wastewater. This new process allows to ensure washing functions coupled with vegetables production and to affect users’ environmental awareness and habits, following a user-centered system design approach to understand the users and involve them actively in the system development. The presented work is also aimed to experiment a multidisciplinary approach in order to face environmental problems

Il saggio studia il significato della nozione Advanced Design applicata al Product Design, nelle sue varie espressioni. La prima parte codifica le basi teoriche e gli obiettivi della ricerca avanzata attraverso la pratica, nonché le sue molteplici connotazioni, dai valori tecnici, a quelli formali, linguistici e simbolici; una seconda parte raccoglie studi ed esperienze di AdvanceDesign evidenziando il contributo di quest’approccio in alcuni settori specifici del Product Design in aziende di riferimento nel panorama internazionale

Mapping City Accessibility: Review and Analysis

The paper presents an analysis of prototypes, studies, and applications for the mapping of city accessibility, focusing mainly on sidewalks accessibility. Moreover, it presents the results of two focus groups that we organized both with electric and with manual wheelchairs to attain requirements and insights to design a user-friendly app for the collection and visualization of information about the accessibility of urban pedestrian pathways
