Weak-antilocalization and Surface Dominated Transport in Topological Insulator Bi2Se2Te
We explore the phase coherence of thin films of the topological insulator
material Bi2Se2Te grown through pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique. The
films were characterised using various techniques for phase and composition.
The films were found to be of good quality. We carried out extensive
magneto-transport studies of these films and found that they exhibit two
dimensional weak antilocalization behaviour. A careful analysis revealed a
relatively high phase coherence length (58nm at 1.78K) for a PLD grown film.
Since PLD is an inexpensive technique, with the possibility to integrate with
other materials, one can make devices which can be extremely useful for low
power spintronics and topological quantum computation.Comment: 16 page
Amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) studies on Indian Cycas species
Amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) technology was used to reveal the genetic variation in six species of Cycas collected from eleven natural populations. Two sets of primer with 4-selective nucleotides were used in this study and 78% polymorphism was found. The results correlated with geographical distribution of the plants and grouped into four. This study is highly useful in the delimitation of Indian Cycas species which has been enunciated as highly endangered taxa by IUCN Red Data List.Key words: Cycads, Cycas, amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP), polymorphism
Bioinformatic Analysis, Structure Modeling and Active Site Prediction of Aquaporin Protein from Catfish Heteropneustes fossilis
Aquaporins (AQPs) are membrane channel proteins which facilitate the rapid transport of water across cellular membrane and are of fundamental importance to the control of cell volume and transcellular water traffic. In the present study using bioinformatic tools an in silico modeling and analysis of aquaporin protein sequences of catfish Heteropneustes fossilis was conducted. Primary structure prediction and physiochemical characterization were performed by computing theoretical isoelectric point (pI), molecular weight, extinction coefficient, instability index and aliphatic index. Secondary structure assessment of aquaporin protein of Indian catfish using GOR IV reveals greater percentage of residues as alpha helix and random coils against the beta sheets. After performing homology modeling using MODELLER, a 3D structure of aquaporin of Indian catfish have been predicted from its amino acid sequence. After the prediction structure has been validated through various validation tools. This homology modeling based structure will provide an insite to its functional aspect and further studies which are based on tertiary structure of protein. Active site of aquaporin protein has been predicted using DoGSite scorer. Analysis of aquaporin active site will provide an insight to more précised functional characterization of this protein. In future, present study will allow the designing of mutant and inhibitors for the study of physiological role of aquaporin protein in Heteropneustes fossilis
Relation-Theoretic Contraction Principle In Metric Spaces Using Multiplicative Contraction
Alam and Imdad have presented a novel application of the Banach contraction principle on a complete metric spaces with a binary relation. We have extended the concept of binary relation with the multiplicative contraction in a complete metric spaces. We have also included corollary to demonstrate our results
Biofertilizer and chemical fertilizer induced changes in cyto-morphological and biochemical constituents of Foeniculum vulgare Mill.
The agriculture sector requires a revolutionary alternative that makes crop production high and elicits less ill-effects on the environment. At present, agriculture area facade the challenge of low yield of many agronomic crops which lead to economic losses. Experimentally, it is proved that fertilizer use can boost yield two three times more in spite of other factors unchanged. But surplus and unbalanced usage of these soil supplements like fertilizers and irrigation causes serious problems to our soils like water logging and formation of saline soils and ultimately lead to denatured soil. This situation can be alleviated through the use of eco-friendly biofertilizer. So the present appraisal scrutinizes the effect of fertilizer Ammonium Phosphate Sulphate (APS) and biofertilizer (Agrozyme) on the cytology, morphology and pigment constituents of the Foeniculum vulgare Mill. and to trace out a safer crop enhancer among the two. The results revealed that fertilizer expelled to be more chromotoxic and mito-inhibitory at higher concentration in comparison to biofertilizer. Fertilizer negatively affects the plant’s mitotic index while biofertilizer enhances mitotic index parallel to the increasing concentration. Biofertilizer shows positive effect on the germination, survival and plant growth while fertilizer shows this elevation effect at lower concentration. The biochemical constituents (photosynthetic pigments) are greatly affected by higher concentration of both the treatments. The treated system shows various anomalies such as stickiness, precocious movement, loop formation at metaphasic stage and stickiness, laggard and bridge etc at anaphasic stage. Since, biofertilizers area much safer as compared to fertilizers and it also enhances the qualitative and quantitative traits, therefore it could be used in agro-system to obtain sustainable crop upgradation
Torsion of gravid horn of bicornuate uterus: a rare case report
Torsion uterus is a rare complication of the third trimester of pregnancy. Etiological factors associated are myoma, mullerian anomalies, ovarian cyst, sudden change of lie of fetus and trauma. We report a rare case of levorotation of the gravid horn of bicornuate uterus leading to severe abruption and intrauterine death of the fetus. The case was managed by an emergency laparotomy with excision of the atonic gravid horn of bicornuate uterus. This is the third such case reported in the English literature as per our knowledge
