Getting the best out of T2K and NOvA
We explore the combined physics potential of T2K and NOvA in light of the
moderately large measured value of theta13. For sin^2 2*theta13 = 0.1, which is
close to the best fit value, a 90% C.L. evidence for the hierarchy can be
obtained only for the combinations (Normal hierarchy, -170 <= deltaCP <= 0) and
(Inverted hierarchy, 0 <= deltaCP <= 170), with the currently planned runs of
NOvA and T2K. However, the hierarchy can essentially be determined for any
value of deltaCP, if the statistics of NOvA are increased by 50% and those of
T2K are doubled. Such an increase will also give an allowed region of deltaCP
around its true value, except for the CP conserving cases deltaCP = 0 or 180.
We demonstrate that any measurement of deltaCP is not possible without first
determining hierarchy. We find that comparable data from a shorter baseline (L
~ 130 km) experiment will not lead to any significant improvement.Comment: Version published in Phys. Rev.
Characterization and In Silico Analysis of Pregnancy-Associated Glycoprotein-1 Gene of Buffalo (Bubalus bubalis)
Pregnancy-Associated Glycoproteins (PAGs) are trophoblastic proteins belonging to the Aspartic proteinase family secreted by different placental cells of many mammalian species. They play a pivotal role in placentogenesis, foetomaternal unit remodeling, and implantation. The identification of the genes encoding those proteins will be helpful to unravel the intricate embryogenomic functions during pregnancy establishment. Considering importance of these proteins, the present study was undertaken to characterize the pregnancy associated glycoprotein-1 gene of buffalo. An 1181 base pairs buffalo Pregnancy-Associated Glycoprotein PAG-1 gene was PCR amplified from the RNA obtained from the fetal cotyledons. BLAST analysis of the buffalo PAG-1 sequence retrieved a total of 20 cattle, 5 goat, and 4 sheep PAG sequences, exhibiting more than 80% similarity. Buffalo PAG-1 gene contained an uninterrupted open reading frame of 1140 base pairs encoding 380 amino acids that possess a 15 amino acid signal peptide and mature peptide of 365 amino acids. The phylogenetic study of the buffalo PAG-1 gene revealed buffalo PAG-1 is more related to cattle, goat, and sheep PAG-1 sequences. Dengue infection in central India: a 5 years study at a tertiary care hospital
Background: Dengue is one of the most important mosquito borne viral disease with wide spectrum of clinical presentation and often with unpredictable clinical evolution and outcome. Approximately 50 million infections occur annually world-wide, but what’s the real size of the problem in India? Nobody truly knows...!! Present study was carried out to determine seropositivity, clinical profile and seasonal variation of dengue infection in central India.Methods: Study was carried out from January 2012 to December 2016. Blood samples were collected from 15,606 patients with dengue like clinical illness and serum was separated. All the samples were subjected to IgM antibody detection by dengue MAC ELISA.Results: Prevalence of dengue in dengue suspected cases was found to be 24.49% (3,822/15,606). Maximum number of positive cases, 1,548 (40.50%) were in the age group of 0-10 years. Males (60.83%) were affected more than females (39.17%). Peak was observed in the months of August, September, October and November. Common presenting features were fever followed by myalgia, arthralgia, headache and bleeding manifestations. Significant drop in platelet count was observed in patients with dengue shock syndrome and dengue haemorrhagic fever.Conclusions: Number of dengue cases in central India are on increase and continued surveillance is essential to determine epidemiological and seasonal trend
Investigation of the Effect of Built Orientation on Mechanical Properties and Total Cost of FDM Parts
AbstractFused deposition modeling (FDM) is one of the rapid prototyping methods that produce prototypes from plastic materials such as acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) by laying tracks of semi-molten plastic filament onto a platform in a layer wise manner from bottom to top. In FDM, one of the critical factor is to select the build up orientation of the model since it affects the different areas of the model like main material, support material, built up time, total cost per part and most important the mechanical properties of the part. In view of this, objective of the present study was to investigate the effect of the built-up orientation on the mechanical properties and total cost of the FDM parts. Experiments were carried out on STRATASYS FDM type rapid prototyping machine coupled with CATALYST software and ABS as main material. Tensile and Flexural specimens were prepared as per the ASTM standard with different built-up orientation and in three geometrical axes. It can be concluded from the experimental analysis that built orientation has significant affect on the tensile, flexural and total cost of the FDM parts. These conclusions will help the design engineers to decide on proper build orientation, so that FDM parts can be fabricated with good mechanical properties at minimum manufacturing cost

Physics Potential of a 2540 Km Baseline Superbeam Experiment
We study the physics potential of a neutrino superbeam experiment with a 2540
km baseline. We assume a neutrino beam similar to the NuMI beam in medium
energy configuration. We consider a 100 kton totally active scintillator
detector at a 7 mr off-axis location. We find that such a configuration has
outstanding hierarchy discriminating capability. In conjunction with the data
from the present reactor neutrino experiments, it can determine the neutrino
mass hierarchy at 3 sigma level in less than 5 years, if sin^2(2*theta13) >
0.01, running in the neutrino mode alone. As a stand alone experiment, with a 5
year neutrino run and a 5 year anti-neutrino run, it can determine non-zero
theta13 at 3 sigma level if sin^2(2*theta13) > 7*10^{-3} and hierarchy at 3
sigma level if sin^2(2*theta13) > 8*10^{-3}. This data can also distinguish
deltaCP = pi/2 from the CP conserving values of 0 and pi, for sin^2(2*theta13)

Neutrino mass hierarchy and octant determination with atmospheric neutrinos
The recent discovery by the Daya-Bay and RENO experiments, that \theta_{13}
is nonzero and relatively large, significantly impacts existing experiments and
the planning of future facilities. In many scenarios, the nonzero value of
\theta_{13} implies that \theta_{23} is likely to be different from \pi/4.
Additionally, large detectors will be sensitive to matter effects on the
oscillations of atmospheric neutrinos, making it possible to determine the
neutrino mass hierarchy and the octant of \theta_{23}. We show that a 50 kT
magnetized liquid argon neutrino detector can ascertain the mass hierarchy with
a significance larger than 4 sigma with moderate exposure times, and the octant

Onset of deformation at in Bi nuclei
The high spin states in Bi has been studied by -ray
spectroscopic method using the Ta(Ne, 6n) fusion evaporation
reaction at 130 MeV. The coincidence data were taken using an
array of 8 clover HPGe detectors. The spin and parity assignments of the
excited states have been made from the measured directional correlation from
oriented states (DCO) ratios and integrated polarization asymmetry (IPDCO)
ratios. The results show, for the first time, the evidence of a rotational like
band based on a 13/2 band head in this nucleus, indicating the onset of
deformation at neutron number for the Bismuth isotopes. The results
obtained were found to be consistent with the prediction of the total Routhian
surface calculations using Woods Saxon potential. The same calculations also
predict a change in shape from oblate to triaxial in Bi at high
rotational frequency
