Fungal diversity notes 253–366: taxonomic and phylogenetic contributions to fungal taxa
Notes on 113 fungal taxa are compiled in this paper, including 11 new genera, 89 new species, one new subspecies, three new combinations and seven reference specimens. A wide geographic and taxonomic range of fungal taxa are detailed. In the Ascomycota the new genera Angustospora (Testudinaceae), Camporesia (Xylariaceae), Clematidis, Crassiparies (Pleosporales genera incertae sedis), Farasanispora, Longiostiolum (Pleosporales genera incertae sedis), Multilocularia (Parabambusicolaceae), Neophaeocryptopus (Dothideaceae), Parameliola (Pleosporales genera incertae sedis), and Towyspora (Lentitheciaceae) are introduced. Newly introduced species are Angustospora nilensis, Aniptodera aquibella, Annulohypoxylon albidiscum, Astrocystis thailandica, Camporesia sambuci, Clematidis italica, Colletotrichum menispermi, C. quinquefoliae, Comoclathris pimpinellae, Crassiparies quadrisporus, Cytospora salicicola, Diatrype thailandica, Dothiorella rhamni, Durotheca macrostroma, Farasanispora avicenniae, Halorosellinia rhizophorae, Humicola koreana, Hypoxylon lilloi, Kirschsteiniothelia tectonae, Lindgomyces okinawaensis, Longiostiolum tectonae, Lophiostoma pseudoarmatisporum, Moelleriella phukhiaoensis, M. pongdueatensis, Mucoharknessia anthoxanthi, Multilocularia bambusae, Multiseptospora thysanolaenae, Neophaeocryptopus cytisi, Ocellularia arachchigei, O. ratnapurensis, Ochronectria thailandica, Ophiocordyceps karstii, Parameliola acaciae, P. dimocarpi, Parastagonospora cumpignensis, Pseudodidymosphaeria phlei, Polyplosphaeria thailandica, Pseudolachnella brevifusiformis, Psiloglonium macrosporum, Rhabdodiscus albodenticulatus, Rosellinia chiangmaiensis, Saccothecium rubi, Seimatosporium pseudocornii, S. pseudorosae, Sigarispora ononidis and Towyspora aestuari. The new species of Basidiomycota are Agaricus coccyginus, A. luteofibrillosus, Amanita atrobrunnea, A. digitosa, A. gleocystidiosa, A. pyriformis, A. strobilipes, Bondarzewia tibetica, Cortinarius albosericeus, C. badioflavidus, C. dentigratus, C. duboisensis, C. fragrantissimus, C. roseobasilis, C. vinaceobrunneus, C. vinaceogrisescens, C. wahkiacus, Cyanoboletus hymenoglutinosus, Fomitiporia atlantica, F. subtilissima, Ganoderma wuzhishanensis, Inonotus shoreicola, Lactifluus armeniacus, L. ramipilosus, Leccinum indoaurantiacum, Musumecia alpina, M. sardoa, Russula amethystina subp. tengii and R. wangii are introduced. Floristic composition and community structure of epiphytic angiosperms in a terra firme forest in central Amazonia
This survey aimed to describe the floristic composition and structure of the epiphytic community occurring in a terra firme forest in the city of Coari, Brazil, in the Amazon region. Data collection was performed with a 1.5 ha plot method, with which upland, slope and lowland habitats were sampled. All angiosperm epiphytes and their host plants (diameter at breast height > 10 cm) were sampled. We recorded 3.528 individuals in 13 families, 48 genera and 164 species. Araceae was the most prevalent family with regard to the importance value and stood out in all related parameters, followed by Bromeliaceae, Cyclanthaceae and Orchidaceae. The species with the highest epiphytic importance values were Guzmania lingulata (L.) Mez. and Philodendron linnaei Kunth. The predominant life form was hemiepiphytic. Estimated floristic diversity was 3.2 (H'). The studied epiphytic community was distributed among 727 host plants belonging to 40 families, 123 genera and 324 species. One individual of Guarea convergens T.D. Penn. was the host with the highest richness and abundance of epiphytes. Stems/trunks of host plants were the most colonized segments, and the most favorable habitat for epiphytism was the lowlands, where 84.1% of species and 48.2% of epiphytic specimens were observed

Pollination of two species of Vellozia (Velloziaceae) from high-altitude quartzitic grasslands, Brazil Polinização de duas espécies de Vellozia (Velloziaceae) de campos quartzíticos de altitude, Brasil
The pollinators and breeding system of two species of Vellozia (Velloziaceae) from high-altitude quartzitic grasslands in SE Brazil were studied. Vellozia leptopetala is shrubby and grows solely on rocky outcrops, V. epidendroides is herbaceous and grows on stony soils. Both bear solitary, hermaphrodite flowers, and have massive, short-lasting annual blooms. We evaluated the level of self-compatibility and need for pollinators of 50 plants of each species and 20-60 flowers per treatment: hand self- and cross-pollination, spontaneous pollination, agamospermy and control. The behavior of floral visitors on flowers and within plants was recorded. Both species are mostly self-incompatible, but produce a small number of seeds by self-fertilization. The pollen-ovule ratio suggests facultative xenogamy. They were visited primarily by bees, of which the most important pollinators were two leaf-cutting bees (Megachile spp.). Vellozia leptopetala was also pollinated by a territorial hummingbird. Low natural seed production compared to cross-pollination seed numbers suggests that pollen limitation is the main cause of low seed set. This was attributed to the combined effect of five mechanisms: selfing prior to anthesis, enhanced geitonogamy as a result of large floral displays, low number of visits per flower for the same reason, pollen theft by many insect species, and, in V. leptopetala, delivery of mixed pollen loads on the stigma as a consequence of hummingbird promiscuity.<br>Foram pesquisados os polinizadores e o sistema reprodutivo de duas espécies de Vellozia (Velloziaceae) de campos rupestres quartzíticos do sudeste do Brasil. Vellozia leptopetala é arborescente e cresce exclusivamente sobre afloramentos rochosos, V. epidendroides é de porte herbáceo e espalha-se sobre solo pedregoso. Ambas têm flores hermafroditas e solitárias, e floradas curtas em massa. Avaliou-se o nível de auto-compatibilidade e a necessidade de polinizadores, em 50 plantas de cada espécie e 20-60 flores por tratamento: polinização manual cruzada e autopolinização, polinização espontânea, agamospermia e controle. O comportamento dos visitantes florais nas flores e nas plantas foi registrado. As espécies são auto-incompatíveis, mas produzem poucas sementes autogâmicas. A razão pólen-óvulo sugere xenogamia facultativa em ambas. Foram visitadas principalmente por abelhas, das quais as mais importantes polinizadoras foram duas cortadeiras (Megachile spp.). Vellozia leptopetala também foi polinizada por uma espécie de beija-flor territorial. A produção de sementes em frutos de polinização cruzada sugere que limitação por pólen é a causa principal da baixa produção natural de sementes. Isto foi atribuído ao efeito combinado de cinco mecanismos: autopolinização prévia à antese, elevada geitonogamia resultante de arranjo floral, número reduzido de visitas por flor pelo mesmo motivo, pilhagem de pólen por diversas espécies de insetos e, em V. leptopetala, deposição de pólen heteroespecífico em conseqüência da promiscuidade dos beija-flores
As Leguminosae arbóreas das florestas estacionais do Parque Estadual do Itacolomi, Minas Gerais, Brasil
Este estudo consiste do tratamento taxonômico das Leguminosae arbóreas das florestas estacionais do Parque Estadual do Itacolomi (PEI). As coletas de material botânico ocorreram mensalmente, entre setembro de 2004 e novembro de 2005, ao longo de oito trilhas distribuídas em áreas de florestas estacionais submontana, montana e altimontana. O levantamento resultou em 39 táxons reunidos em 22 gêneros e distribuídos entre as três subfamílias: Caesalpinioideae (9 espécies), Mimosoideae (17) e Papilionoideae (13). Os gêneros mais representativos foram Inga (8 espécies), Machaerium (4), Senna e Dalbergia (3, cada), Abarema, Anadenanthera e Tachigali (2, cada). Bauhinia, Cassia, Copaifera, Melanoxylon, Calliandra, Mimosa, Piptadenia, Pseudopiptadenia, Stryphnodendron, Andira, Bowdichia, Ormosia, Platypodium, Pterocarpus e Swartzia apresentaram uma espécie cada. Ormosia friburgensis e Tachigali friburgensis são registradas pela primeira vez para o estado de Minas Gerais. São fornecidos chave de identificação, descrições, ilustrações, dados fenológicos, comentários taxonômicos e preferência por habitats de cada táxon no PEI.This study presents the taxonomic treatment of woody Leguminosae in seasonal forests of Itacolomi State Park (PEI). Botanical material was collected monthly, from September 2004 to November 2005, along eight trails in submontane, montane and upper montane seasonal forests. Woody Leguminosae were represented by 39 taxa in 22 genera distributed among the three subfamilies: Cesalpinioideae (9 species), Mimosoideae (17), and Papilionoideae (13). The most representative genera were Inga (8 species), followed by Machaerium (4), Senna and Dalbergia (3 each), Abarema, Anadenanthera, and Tachigali (2 each). Bauhinia, Cassia, Copaifera, Melanoxylon, Calliandra, Mimosa, Piptadenia, Pseudopiptadenia, Stryphnodendron, Andira, Bowdichia, Ormosia, Platypodium, Pterocarpus, and Swartzia were represented by one species each. Ormosia friburgensis and Tachigali friburgensis are reported for the first time in Minas Gerais state. Flora vascular não-arbórea de uma floresta de grota na Serra da Mantiqueira, Zona da Mata de Minas Gerais, Brasil
A região da Serra Negra constitui um importante remanescente de floresta atlântica situado no sul da Zona da Mata mineira, na Serra da Mantiqueira, composta por um mosaico de campos rupestres (nos afloramentos de quartzito) a arbustais nebulares, florestas estacionais semideciduifólias a perenifólias e florestas nebulares, de ambientes inferomontanos a superomontanos ripícolas a interfluviais. A área de estudo é um fragmento de floresta de grota (floresta perenifólia ripícola), de aproximadamente 0,9 ha, situada no Cânion do Ribeirão do Funil, na Vila do Funil, município de Rio Preto, localizada no sul da Serra Negra. O presente trabalho foi realizado entre os anos de 2004 e 2009 e teve como objetivos o conhecimento da flora vascular não-arbórea, a discussão dos hábitos e habitats das plantas e a descrição da fisionomia do fragmento. Foram registrados 157 táxons de plantas vasculares (sendo 41 pteridófitas e 116 angiospermas), pertencentes a 48 famílias (10 de pteridófitas e 38 de angiospermas). As famílias de maior riqueza específica foram Orchidaceae, dentre as angiospermas, com 27 espécies e Pteridaceae, dentre as pteridófitas, apresentando 11 espécies. O hábito mais representativo foi o herbáceo (124 spp.), destacando-se as espécies epífitas (42 spp.), que perfazem cerca de 25% de todas as espécies registradas na área. Doze espécies estão incluídas na lista de espécies ameaçadas de extinção no estado de Minas Gerais (duas pteridófitas e 10 angiospermas). O elevado número de espécies encontradas em uma área consideravelmente pequena ressalta a importância deste fragmento para a diversidade da Serra Negra e aponta para a necessidade de implantação de um plano de ação para sua conservação
