    New Formulas and Predictions for Running Fermion Masses at Higher Scales in SM, 2HDM, and MSSM

    Get PDF
    Including contributions of scale-dependent vacuum expectation values, we derive new analytic formulas and obtain substantially different numerical predictions for the running masses of quarks and charged-leptons at higher scales in the SM, 2HDM and MSSM. These formulas exhibit significantly different behaviours with respect to their dependence on gauge and Yukawa couplings than those derived earlier. At one-loop level the masses of the first two generations are found to be independent of Yukawa couplings of the third generation in all the three effective theories in the small mixing limit. Analytic formulas are also obtained for running tanβ(μ)\tan\beta(\mu) in 2HDM and MSSM. Other numerical analyses include study of the third generation masses at high scales as functions of low-energy values of tanβ\tan\beta and SUSY scale MS=MZ104M_S=M_Z-10^4 GeV.Comment: 42 pages RevTeX, including 16 figures.     Nodeless d-wave superconducting pairing due to residual antiferromagnetism in underdoped Pr2x_{2-x}Cex_xCuO4δ_{4-\delta}

    Full text link
    We have investigated the doping dependence of the penetration depth vs. temperature in electron doped Pr2x_{2-x}Cex_xCuO4δ_{4-\delta} using a model which assumes the uniform coexistence of (mean-field) antiferromagnetism and superconductivity. Despite the presence of a dx2y2d_{x^2-y^2} pairing gap in the underlying spectrum, we find nodeless behavior of the low-TT penetration depth in underdoped case, in accord with experimental results. As doping increases, a linear-in-TT behavior of the penetration depth, characteristic of d-wave pairing, emerges as the lower magnetic band crosses the Fermi level and creates a nodal Fermi surface pocket.Comment: Accepted in PRL for publicatio

    Entropic corrections to Newton's law

    Full text link
    In this short letter we calculate separately the generalized uncertainty principle (GUP) and self gravitational corrections to the Newton's gravitational formula. We show that for a complete description of the GUP and self-gravity effects, both temperature and the entropy must be modified.Comment: 4 pages, Accepted for publication in "Physica Scripta",Title changed, Major revisio

    Driven Heisenberg Magnets: Nonequilibrium Criticality, Spatiotemporal Chaos and Control

    We drive a dd-dimensional Heisenberg magnet using an anisotropic current. The continuum Langevin equation is analysed using a dynamical renormalization group and numerical simulations. We discover a rich steady-state phase diagram, including a critical point in a new nonequilibrium universality class, and a spatiotemporally chaotic phase. The latter may be `controlled' in a robust manner to target spatially periodic steady states with helical order.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures. Published in Euro. Phys. Let
