EFFECT OF AUGMENTED LEARNING ON STUDENTS’ ACQUISITION OF PROCEDURAL SKILLS IN COMPUTER SCIENCE
The study investigated the effects of the augmented-learning package on the acquisition of computer science procedural skills among junior secondary students of Offa local government, Kwara State. The study adopted the pre-test- post-test experimental research design. The sample for the study comprised 40 students drawn from two junior secondary schools, using a purposive sampling technique. Three research instruments were used to gather data for this study; Computer Science Achievement Test (C-SAT-I), Computer Science Achievement Test (C-SAT-II) and Students’ Classroom Engagement Observational Checklist (SCEOC). The Pearson Product Moment Correlation coefficient (PPMC) was used in determining the reliability of the instruments (r=0.72). The result showed that the augmented-learning package had a significant effect on the academic performance, acquisition of procedural skills and classroom engagement of the students in Computer Science. The study concluded that the use of an augmented-learning package should be deployed in teaching Computer Science in secondary schools because it promises to improve students’ performance. Article visualizations
A New Disease in Iowa Corn Fields
It resembles maize dwarf mosaic found in Ohio, Symptoms vary widely and may include red or purple streaking of leaves or severe stunting. Research is underway and is being intensified
Plant Disease Outcome in 1967
The influence of disease on crops and trees will be decided by a large number of interacting factors. Most of the diseases responsible for loss and profit in crops can be eliminated by preventive measures you and your neighbors take
Nematodes and Fungi Are Cutting Hay Yields
Because of parasitic nematodes and fungi many Iowa farmers are not getting nearly the quantity of hay that alfalfa is capable of producing. Hay losses from these pests and diseases cost several million dollars annually
Initial Results from a Stacked Ring Apparatus for Simulation of a Soil Profile
A stack of 48 rings, lined with a latex membrane, is used to confine a column of soil 12 inches high by 12 inches in diameter (300 mm x 300 mm). Both dry and saturated columns of fine sand are shaken at their base, at a centrifugal acceleration of 35.5 g. Measurements of the settlement of the surface, horizontal displacement and pore pressures show that the columns of soil are behaving essentially (although not exactly) as one-dimensional shear beams
Mental Health Care in Cuba and the Diaspora A Panel Discussion
This panel takes as its cue the recent publication of Jennifer L. Lambe\u27s book, Madhouse: Psychiatry and Politics in Cuban History, focusing on Mazorra, the island\u27s first psychiatric hospital. The book examines how, from its birth, Cuban psychiatry was politically inflected, drawing partisan contention while sparking debates over race, religion, gender, and sexuality. Psychiatric notions were even invested with revolutionary significance after 1959, as the new government undertook ambitious schemes for social reeducation. Debates about the treatment of mental health issues continued among exiles in South Florida. In particular, the 1980 Mariel boatlift turned into a psychiatric problem both for Cuba and the United States, due to the presence of a large number of mental patients among the migrants.
This panel will feature the following speakers:
• Dr. Jennifer L. Lambe, Department of History, Brown University
• Dr. Eugenio Rothe, Department of Psychiatry, Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, Florida International University
• Dr. Héctor R. Castillo Matos, Nueva América Community Mental Health Center, Miamihttps://digitalcommons.fiu.edu/cri_events/1332/thumbnail.jp
