Neurocognitive outcome after preterm birth: Interest of the follow-up and the systematic evaluation
ObjectivePreterm children can experience cognitive and behavioral difficulties being able to be responsible for school difficulties going to the academic failure. The aim of this study was to assess the cognitive process while insisting on the early screening from the preschool age.MethodsThe data arise from the study of files and from the neuropsychological evaluations realized with the premature children followed in a regular way to the service. The premature children with or without motor disabilities more 4 and a half-years, old deficit integrated pre-school and ordinary school were included. The children with severe disabilities in upper limbs and the children having a mental deficiency were excluded.Results30 middle-aged children 7 years 5 months have been included. The prematurity is between 27–34. The born term has an effect on the performances in particular on attention and visuo-spatial capacities.ConclusionThe prematurity is a risk factor of the school future of the child. There is specially a negative impact on visuo-spatial and visuo-motor processes and those children present social and behavioral difficulties. It is mandatory to include the neuropsychological evaluation in any follow-up of premature child thanks to tests validated in the Tunisian context. It remains of great importance to identify effective interventions to improve the long-term neurocognitive outcomes
Photonic hydrogel sensors
Analyte-sensitive hydrogels that incorporate optical structures have emerged as sensing platforms for point-of-care diagnostics. The optical properties of the hydrogel sensors can be rationally designed and fabricated through self-assembly, microfabrication or laser writing. The advantages of photonic hydrogel sensors over conventional assay formats include label-free, quantitative, reusable, and continuous measurement capability that can be integrated with equipment-free text or image display. This Review explains the operation principles of photonic hydrogel sensors, presents syntheses of stimuli-responsive polymers, and provides an overview of qualitative and quantitative readout technologies. Applications in clinical samples are discussed, and potential future directions are identified
Enzymes immobilized in Langmuir-Blodgett films: Why determining the surface properties in Langmuir monolayer is important?
ABSTRACT In this review we discuss about the immobilization of enzymes in Langmuir-Blodgett films in order to determine the catalytic properties of these biomacromolecules when adsorbed on solid supports. Usually, the conformation of enzymes depends on the environmental conditions imposed to them, including the chemical composition of the matrix, and the morphology and thickness of the film. In this review, we show an outline of manuscripts that report the immobilization of enzymes as LB films since the 1980’s, and also some examples of how the surface properties of the floating monolayer prepared previously to the transfer to the solid support are important to determine the efficiency of the resulting device
Dynamic inventory optimization for a serial supply chain with stochastic and lead-time sensitive demand
International audienceThis paper investigates the problem of inventory level optimization in a two-echelon supply chain over a multi-period planning horizon with stochastic and lead time-sensitive demand. The problem consists in quoting the best service time to end customers and locating inventories along the supply chain to satisfy this service time. The shorter the service time is, the greater the demand becomes. We model the problem and propose an analytical solving approach. We finally provide some illustrative examples
