Evaluación de la Contaminación Microbiológica Presente en los Arroyos La Carolina y La Totora Ubicados en el Partido de Gral. Alvarado. Prov. de Buenos Aires. Argentina.
Do real interest rates converge across Latin american countries?
In this study, we apply the Sequential Panel Selection Method (SPSM), pro- posed by Chortareas and Kapetanios (Journal of Banking and Finance 33:390–404, 2009), to investigate and assess the non-stationary properties of the real interest rate parity (RIRP) for fourteen Latin American countries. Utilizing the SPSM, we can classify the entire panel into a group of stationary series and a group of non-stationary series. We clearly identify how many and which series in the panel are stationary processes and provide robust evidence that clearly indicate RIRP holds true for ten countries. Our findings note that these countries’ real interest rate convergence is a mean reversion toward RIRP equilib- rium values in a non-linear way. Our results have important policy implications for these Latin American countries under study.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
The EMBI in Latin America: Fractional Integration, Non-Linearities and Breaks
This paper analyses the main statistical properties of the Emerging Market Bond Index (EMBI), namely long-range dependence or persistence, non-linearities, and structural breaks, in four Latin American countries (Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela). For this purpose it uses a fractional integration framework and both parametric and semi-parametric methods. The evidence based on the former is sensitive to the specification for the error terms, whilst the results from the latter are more conclusive in ruling out mean reversion. Further, non-linearities do not appear to be present. Both recursive and rolling window methods identify a number of breaks. Overall, the evidence of long-range dependence as well as breaks suggests that active policies might be necessary for achieving financial and economic stability in these countries
Acquired epidermodysplasia verruciformis syndrome in HIV-infected patients: a systematic review
Congenital epidermodysplasia verruciformis (CEV) is a Genodermatosis linked to different inheritance patterns and mutations of the EVER1/TMC6 and EVER2/TMC8 genes. There is an acquired form (AEV) associated with immunodeficiency states, including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection; however, the literature about AEV is limited and imprecise, so a systematic review was performed. A search of the main databases from 1975 to 2021 identified 126 studies, of which 80 met the inclusion criteria. The diagnosis of AEV is complex due to atypical manifestations and locations, it requires a mean follow-up of 7 years, and the lesions do not change with ART therapy, CD4 count, or viral load. Histopathological findings are variable depending on the location of the lesions. HPV 5 remains the serotype most frequently associated with AEV and CEV, although HPV 20 is more frequent than HPV 8 in AEV. Most treatments have low efficacy, the most described are glycolic acid 15%, 5-fluorouracil 5%, imiquimod 5%, and topical retinoids all of them in monotherapy or combined with cryotherapy. Other alternatives include topical cidofovir and systemic retinoids with variable results. The oncologic prognosis is still inconclusive; however, the development of squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma are frankly lower concerning CEV. This review opens new opportunities for future research. Additionally, we provide clear and useful key points for the practice of dermatologists and all professionals treating HIV patients around the world. © The Author(s) 2024
Fattening lamb nutrition. Approaches and strategies in feedlot
5 páginas, 7 tablas, 1 figura.Several kinds of lamb are currently being produced in the Iberian market and all of them require different feeding strategies. Gender, season of the year, genotype, fattening score and priorities should be kept in mind when planning farm management to achieve not only a good product but also good profitability. Despite the great variability in fattening lamb trials, we can predict technical and economic performance from the initial and final body weight, depending on the sex, genotype and season. The authors acknowledge the support of NANTA S.A. and NUTRECO ( economical and technical) CSIC of Leon (statistical studies and technical support) and FRANCO Y NAVARRO (farmer and figure of reference in the lamb industry in Spain).Peer Reviewe
