Logarithmically modified scaling of temperature structure functions in thermal convection
Using experimental data on thermal convection, obtained at a Rayleigh number
of 1.5 , it is shown that the temperature structure functions
, where is the absolute value of the temperature
increment over a distance , can be well represented in an intermediate range
of scales by , where the are the scaling
exponents appropriate to the passive scalar problem in hydrodynamic turbulence
and the function . Measurements are made in the
midplane of the apparatus near the sidewall, but outside the boundary layer
Alaska Initiatives and Referenda
This article is intended to be used as a starting point for those researching initiative and referendum issues for the state of Alaska. A brief history of I&R in Alaska is followed by an overview of the process. Thepiece concludes with an annotated list of resources to begin research into Alaska I&R

Portable low profile antenna at X-band
An antenna which has been conceived as a portable system for satellite communications based on the recommendations ITU-R S.580-6 and ITU-R S.465-5 for small antennas, i.e., with a diameter lower than 50 wavelengths, is introduced. It is a planar and a compact structure with a size of 40Ă40Ă2 cm. The antenna is formed by an array of 256 printed elements covering a large bandwidth (14.7%) at X-Band with a VSWR of 1.4:1. The specification includes transmission (Tx) and reception (Rx) bands simultaneously. The printed antenna has a radiation pattern with a 3dB beamwidth of 5°, over a 31dBi gain, and a dual and an interchangeable circular polarization
[Review of] Charles V. Willie and Ronald R. Edmonds (Eds.). Black Colleges in America: Challenge, Development, Survival
This book is a collection of articles from the Black College Conference held at Harvard University in March and April of 1976. The authors are experienced administrators, teachers, and students of our nation\u27s black colleges and universities. This book attempts, through firsthand recording, through documentation of historical fact, and through analysis of governance, financing, and institutional role, to eradicate the negative images of our nation\u27s black colleges and universities

Covariance of Time-Ordered Products Implies Local Commutativity of Fields
We formulate Lorentz covariance of a quantum field theory in terms of
covariance of time-ordered products (or other Green's functions). This
formulation of Lorentz covariance implies spacelike local commutativity or
anticommutativity of fields, sometimes called microscopic causality or
microcausality. With this formulation microcausality does not have to be taken
as a separate assumption.Comment: 6 pages, section on non-local theories removed, published versio
One hypnagogic dream and the I Ching : a plausible interpretation
In this brief report I give an account of one very simple but deeply intriguing hypnagogic dream which potential
meanings were subsequently unfolded and analysed by means of the I Ching, an instrument that has been reputed to
have the capacity to disclose hidden meanings in the situations that are scrutinized with its help. The brief report concludes
for the possibility of amplifying the hermeneutics of one dream through the I Ching

Facing up to the challenge of behavioural observation in infant hearing assessment
The ability to assess detection and discrimination of speech by infants has proved elusive. Dr Iain Jackson and colleagues discuss how new technologies and fresh approaches might offer valuable insight into young infantsâ behavioural responses to sound
