Fermion spectrum and localization on kinks in a deconstructed dimension

We study the deconstructed scalar theory having nonlinear interactions and being renormalizable. It is shown that the kink-like configurations exist in such models. The possible forms of Yukawa coupling are considered. We find the degeneracy in mass spectrum of fermions coupled to the nontrivial scalar configuration.Comment: 19pages, 39figures, revised versio

Divergences in QED on a Graph

We consider a model of quantum electrodynamics (QED) on a graph. The one-loop divergences in the model are investigated by use of the background field method.Comment: 14 pages, no figures, RevTeX4. References and typos adde

Graph-theory induced gravity and strongly-degenerate fermions in a self-consistent Einstein universe

We study UV-finite theory of induced gravity. We use scalar fields, Dirac fields and vector fields as matter fields whose one-loop effects induce the gravitational action. To obtain the mass spectrum which satisfies the UV-finiteness condition, we use a graph-based construction of mass matrices. The existence of a self-consistent static solution for an Einstein universe is shown in the presence of degenerate fermion.Comment: 16pages, 1figur

    Shape of Deconstruction

We construct a six-dimensional Maxwell theory using a latticized extra space, the continuum limit of which is a shifted torus recently discussed by Dienes. This toy model exhibits the correspondence between continuum theory and discrete theory, and give a geometrical insight to theory-space model building.Comment: 10 pages, 2 figures, RevTeX4. a citation adde

Equations of Motion in Double Field Theory: From Particles to Scale Factors

In double field theory, the equation of motion for a point particle in the background field is considered. We find that the motion is described by a geodesic flow in the doubled geometry. Inspired by the analysis on the particle motion, we consider a modified model of quantum string cosmology, which includes two scale factors.Comment: 25pages, no figure, revised versio

Bulk Fermion Stars with New Dimensions

Many efforts have been devoted to the studies of the phenomenology in particle physics with extra dimensions. We propose degenerate fermion stars with extra dimensions and study what features characterized by the size of extra dimensions should appear in its structure. We find that Kaluza-Klein excited modes arise for the larger scale of extra dimensions and examine the conditions on which different layers should be caused in the inside of the stars. We expound how the extra dimensions affect on physical quantities.Comment: 20 pages, 14 figure

Interparticle Potential up to Next-to-leading Order for Gravitational, Electrical, and Dilatonic Forces

Long-range forces up to next-to-leading order are computed in the framework of the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton system by means of a semiclassical approach to gravity. As has been recently shown, this approach is effective if one of the masses under consideration is significantly greater than all the energies involved in the system. Further, we obtain the condition for the equilibrium of charged masses in the system.Comment: 19 pages, 19 figures, RevTeX4.1. Revised version, Title change

Control of seed dormancy and germination by DOG1-AHG1 PP2C phosphatase complex via binding to heme

    Get PDF
Abscisic acid (ABA) regulates abiotic stress and developmental responses including regulation of seed dormancy to prevent seeds from germinating under unfavorable environmental conditions. ABA HYPERSENSITIVE GERMINATION1 (AHG1) encoding a type 2C protein phosphatase (PP2C) is a central negative regulator of ABA response in germination; however, the molecular function and regulation of AHG1 remain elusive. Here we report that AHG1 interacts with DELAY OF GERMINATION1 (DOG1), which is a pivotal positive regulator in seed dormancy. DOG1 acts upstream of AHG1 and impairs the PP2C activity of AHG1 in vitro. Furthermore, DOG1 has the ability to bind heme. Binding of DOG1 to AHG1 and heme are independent processes, but both are essential for DOG1 function in vivo. Our study demonstrates that AHG1 and DOG1 constitute an important regulatory system for seed dormancy and germination by integrating multiple environmental signals, in parallel with the PYL/RCAR ABA receptor-mediated regulatory system
