Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) have an important role in agriculture because of the benefits on plant and ecosystem. However, mycorrhizal association is affected by many factors such as vegetation and farming conditions. In this study, AMF system on soil and roots of coffee were investigated from two coffee farms with different cultivation method in Lam Dong Province, one was not applied fertilizer in 4 years and the other was conventional. The density, the type of mycorrhizal spore and fungal infection rate on coffee roots are different between two coffee farms. Based on morphology, there are 119 types of AMF spore in both coffee farms and most of them belongs to genera Acaulospora, Gigaspora, Entrophospora and Glomus. Spore types RE7, W6 and W1 belonged to Acaulospora and Y5 belonged to Entrophospora appeared in both farms. Besides, spore types B7, RE10, Yc, RE1 and Y1 were recorded in high density (1-4 spores /g soil). All of them were the potential strains for developing the VAM fertilizer specialized to coffee plantation.

Propagating arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi associated with coffee plant by using the herbaceous host

Coffee (Coffea spp.) is one of important industrial crops. Additionally, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) provide many benefits for plants such as increasing nutrient uptake, enhancing tolerance in drought and stress condition, etc. Therefore, preservation and propagation of AMF spores collected from coffee’s rhizosphere are necessary for coffee cultivation. The AMF preservation on coffee plant is not feasible because coffee is a long-term plants, which led to study on symbiotic ability of AMF on several short-term host plants (maize (Zea mays), plantain (Plantago spp.), rice (Oryza sativa), beggarticks (Bidens pilosa), and bahia grass (Pensacola bahia)) to maintain AM association. Investigation of symbiosis ability with four types of AMF spores showed that maize had the highest rate of fungal infection. The total number of AMF spore per 50g soil after 3 months of inoculation on maize reached 352 spores, which was 4.1 times higher than that of the origin while the lowest figure recorded in bahia grass is with only 2.3 times

Optimization of Main Factors Affecting Construction Waste by the Supply Chain Management

    Get PDF
A survey report of the Vietnam Urban Environment and Industrial Zone Association reveals that every day in 2009, about 1,000 tons of construction waste were generated in Hanoi and 2,000 tons Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. It is forecasted that the coming years would see a vigorously growing amount of construction waste as a result of the plan to dismantle and renovate old apartment buildings in major cities. So, in this research we developed a supply chain management strategy for the waste controlling in the construction industry. While the bulky volume of construction wastes poses a great environmental threat to urban areas, response to it remains meager. Hence, this paper presents four primary factors affecting the management of construction wastes in Vietnam using fuzzy logic

Modeling quality of life of Ho Chi Minh City dwellers

Quality of life (QoL) has received more and more attention from scholars and researchers from various fields such as healthcare, philosophy, psychology, sociology, and especially economics after many decades of focusing on income. However, researchers have faced many challenges to gain the proper measurement of QoL due to the contextually based concept. This study employs the primary data conducted in Ho Chi Minh City including 500 observations in 2022, with the application of partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to construct a hierarchical model to measure the QoL of the dwellers in Ho Chi Minh City. The empirical model supports the multi-level hierarchical structure of the QoL. The statistically significant contribution of economic, social, and environmental dimensions in the integrated index has been confirmed. The environmental component shares the highest weight, followed by the economic factor. The social aspect contributes the least share in the quality- of-life index. Further analysis of the sub-criteria in each dimension has been made. The findings implicitly suggest the policy concentration on sustainable factors enhancement to raise the QoL. It was a milestone for policy makers to switch the focus from material to non-material factors in the life quality model in Vietnam

Disputes in Managing Projects: A Case Study of Construction Industry in Vietnam

    Get PDF
The construction industry in developing countries like Vietnam, which incorporates small and medium construction enterprises, is typically more prone to disputes and contract dispute-related lawsuits. A dispute may occur at any time in the life cycle of the project. It is sometimes solved with the intermediation of a lawyer or directly by stakeholders. Understanding the causes of disputes in a construction project not only improves the efficiency of a company but also increases the success of projects. This study was carried out using a questionnaire survey at construction projects in Ho Chi Minh City. Sample data with 117 observations were analyzed to find the disputing factors in construction projects: diversity of working style among the parties; reluctance to work; and poor teamwork. Correlation coefficient on a rank of factors between design consultant and contractor; Design consultant and project owners are positively correlated. The Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) analysis identified six groups of factors in construction disputes: cooperation, technology, economics, productivity, information, and behavior. The findings are useful for enterprise practice and provide participants with an overview of sources of dispute. Thus, a more complete risk management plan can be formulated, which will accelerate project progress and improve the likelihood of success

Measuring production efficiency level of Vietnam for inputs imported from China

In recent years, many countries in ASEAN have depended significantly on products imported from China. This study presents the analysis of dependence level of inputs imported by Vietnam from China. Using production elasticity index as the measurement, the results of research shows that the imported inputs from China are effective for Vietnam’s economy. In addition, in comparison to the inputs imported from other remaining countries in the world, the import from China brought higher production efficiency for Vietnam in most of the industries

Critical Factors Affecting The Happiness: A Vietnamese Perspective

It can be said that happiness and searching for happiness are the goals, aspirations and rights of every one. Increasing the happiness of their own country’s population is an ultimate goal being widely interested by the policy makers. However, in Vietnam, there have been a few studies about the factors affecting the happiness. Therefore, this study aims to develop a conceptual framework model to identify critical factors influencing the happiness of Vietnamese people

China Trade Expansion: A Case Study of Vietnam

Vietnam encountered the unexpected trade deficit with China in the recent years. Upon establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community on December 31st, 2015, the import tax rates of the regional countries have been reduced significantly. This facilitates the quality goods from the ASEAN countries overflowing into Vietnam. Nevertheless, a few research and analysis on the challenge of importing goods from China under the regional economic integration. To settle these issues, this paper analyzes the China‘s market expansion into Vietnam. In addition, it also compares the Vietnam's import structure from China and other countries in ASEAN. The results showed that China is always the top export partner of Vietnam, particularly, machinery and raw materials. Factors Affecting Vietnamese Higher Education Quality in the Context of Industry 4.0

    Get PDF
Industry 4.0 has challenged the quality of higher education by demanding more employability besides the academic and vocational skills of undergraduate laborers. Previous studies have addressed this issue unidimensionally. This study explores the measurement model of higher education quality multidimensionally under this circumstance by (1) Confirming the factors to measure higher education quality functionally and technically and (2) Ranking the factors in the quality measurement model. The qualitative Delphi method based on twenty in-depth interviews was conducted to fulfill the study’s objectives. The findings show that both the functional and technical dimensions of education quality have been integrated into the Vietnamese Higher Education Institution (HEIs) quality model including: (1) output; (2) critical thinking and problem-solving; (3) organizing and managing ability; (4) adaptability; (5) lifelong learning; (6) teaching process; (7) creativity and innovation; (8) expertise and digitalization; (9) administrative process; (10) learning process; (11) foreign language; and (12) input. The priority of output and learners’ competencies over input and education process in the model highlights the need for proper policies to effectively improve Vietnamese HEIs quality
