Nuclear Modification to Parton Distribution Functions and Parton Saturation

We introduce a generalized definition of parton distribution functions (PDFs) for a more consistent all-order treatment of power corrections. We present a new set of modified DGLAP evolution equations for nuclear PDFs, and show that the resummed αsA1/3/Q2\alpha_s A^{1/3}/Q^2-type of leading nuclear size enhanced power corrections significantly slow down the growth of gluon density at small-xx. We discuss the relation between the calculated power corrections and the saturation phenomena.Comment: 4 pages, to appear in the proceedings of QM200

Experimental analysis for the effect of dynamic capillarity on stress transformation in porous silicon

    Get PDF
The evolution of real-time stress in porous silicon(PS) during drying is investigated using micro-Raman spectroscopy. The results show that the PS sample underwent non-negligible stress when immersed in liquid and suffered a stress impulsion during drying. Such nonlinear transformation and nonhomogeneneous distribution of stress are regarded as the coupling effects of several physical phenomena attributable to the intricate topological structure of PS. The effect of dynamic capillarity can induce microcracks and even collapse in PSstructures during manufacture and storage. This work is funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China Contract Nos. 10732080 and 10502014

Low-mass dilepton production in pppp and AAAA collisions

We adopt a factorized QCD formalism to describe the transverse momentum distribution of low-mass lepton pairs produced in pppp collisions, when the pair transverse momentum QT≫QQ_T \gg Q, with the pair's invariant mass QQ as low as Q∼ΛQCDQ \sim \Lambda_{\mathrm{QCD}}. We extend this formalism to dilepton production in AAAA collisions by including the nuclear-dependent power correction due to parton multiple scattering.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figures - To appear in the conference proceedings for Quark Matter 2009, March 30 - April 4, Knoxville, Tennesse
