Discourse Styles and Forms in New Literatures in English: A Reading of Wole Soyinka's "Idanre"
Research on second language teacher education: A sociocultural perspective on professional development
Of the many considerations made for second
language teacher development, the one that has
finally come to attention is that of critical
perspectives on the social practices and situated
contexts that teachers inhabit and work in.
Whether it is Korea or India, Ecuador or Czech
Republic, teacher development programmes do
not seem to succeed as much as expected, as
the concepts and practices suggested in these
programs do not permeate into the frames of
teachers understanding
Reading Australian Poetry in the Indian Classroom
An account of teaching Australian poetry in contemporary India
Landmark The study of language and style in literature: an overview
One of the most interesting things about
language is that we often learn more of it when
it doesn't follow the rules of prescribed and fixed
grammar, but manifests itself in a large number
of extraordinary variations which seem to violate
those very rules. In fact, language variation is
an everyday occurrence around us. The
variations include social variations, styles of
speaking and writing, and registers from
different areas. Metaphors and idioms also find
their way into most conversations
Digital storytelling: a classroom experiment
Storytelling is a powerful way to express ideas
and communicate experiences. It takes place
both through the spoken form and in writing.
Storytelling has a been part of teaching since
the definition of subjects, as far back as Aristotle
(Alexander, 2011). According to Sharda (2007a),
storytelling, in general is a powerful pedagogical
paradigm that can be used to enhance learning
outcomes for general, scientific and technical
education. With the rapid development of
information technology, "students live in a world
that has been transformed by technology, and
they are often referred to as 'digital natives'
because their exposure to digital resources
begins at birth" (Morgan, 2014, p.20).Thus, there
is always an inertia in education for these two
strands-that of storytelling and technology to
converge, one such attempt is being made in
this paper
