Apriori algorithm on Marine Fisheries Biological Data

Abstract - Data Mining (DM) is the process of analysing data from different vista and gives summary on specific determination. Association rules are rules describing the associations or correlations to bring out the hidden pattern among attributes in data sets. The most widely used algorithm in association technique is Apriori algorithm which is meant for only categorical data analysis. The sample fishery biological data consist of six attributes out of which two are numerical values. As a new attempt, the numerical values were converted to unique nominal values in order to maintain all categorical values. The Apriori algorithm applied on specific criteria such as minimum support and confidence enabled to derive many meaningful patterns on different perspectives. The taeniopterus apecies has more associations between the attributes of total_length range between 120 to 150 and month of August, weight of Thirty and sex of Male

Indigenous trawl operations during fishing ban period in Chennai

North Chennai is a major centre for mechanised fishing with approximately 1200 fishing units. Generally during the fishing ban period, the fishermen from these units either sit idle or enroll as labourers for fishing in permitted traditional fishing units. But during the mechanised fishing ban period in 2017, some of the fishers in North Chennai started mini trawl operations to tide over their lean period. The size of the trawl net was 15 m in length and cod end mesh size of 24 mm

Tamil Nadu, with a coastline of 1076 km has 363 landing centres while the 45 km coastline of Puducherry has 26 landing centres in 2 fishing zones (Puducherry and Karaikkal). Fishing is done using different combinations of fishing crafts and gears. The recent trend of fish landings in Tamil Nadu showed a slight decrease in landings in 2016 (7.07 lakh t) compared to 2015 (7.09 lakh t). In spite of this, Tamil Nadu was ranked second among all maritime states contributing 19.5% of the total marine fish landings in the country during 2016. The landings of Puducherry were 0.45 lakh t in 2016 with a reduction of 33,958 t compared to 2015. The major contribution was from Karaikkal region (67%)

Marine fish landings in Andhra Pradesh during 2016 - An overview

Andhra Pradesh with a coastline of 974 km, and nine coastal districts has 1.63 lakh marine fishermen families residing in the 555 marine fishing villages (Marine Fisheries Census 2010) who depend on fishing either directly or through allied activities for their livelihood. The state is cyclone prone and during the past decade, cyclones have severely affected the stateтАЩs fisheries sector. The marine fish landings was 1.92 lakh tonnes (t) in the year 2016, which was 35% less than that of the previous year. The drastic reduction in the landings of the state may be attributed to reduction in fishing operations during the months of September, October and November due to cyclone warnings. Among the coastal districts, East Godavari contributed the highest (33%) to total marine fish landings of the state, followed by Visakhapatnam (22%) and Srikakulam (11%). In spite of decline in the catch contributions from a few landing centres like Bhairavpalem

The south-east coast of India comprising the states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry have a total coastline of 2050 km which is 34% of the total coastline of the country. This region is more diverse with respect to the number of species that are landed. In 2007, it was observed that 499 species were landed in Tamil Nadu, 294 in Andhra Pradesh and 115 in Pondicherry

Evaluating the Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices of Healthcare Workers Regarding High-Risk Nosocomial Infections: A Global Cross-Sectional Study

BACKGROUND: Healthcare workers (HCWs) play a vital role in delivering care and are frequently exposed to the risk of acquiring infections within the hospital setting. Around 15% of hospitalized patients suffer from these infections globally. However, the role and awareness of HCWs in the transmission of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) or nosocomial infections is still unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the knowledge, attitude, and practices (KAP) toward high-risk microbial infections among HCWs on a global scale to identify measures to address this problem. METHOD: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted between 2022 and 2023, with HCWs selected as the study population. Data concerning KAP were collected through a self-administered online survey questionnaire, using a nonprobability convenience sampling method. Descriptive statistics and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. RESULTS: A total of 743 HCWs from various countries participated in the study, with the majority of respondents being doctors (64.9%). Data were mainly obtained from Saudi Arabia (26.78%), Iraq (25.84%), India (15.7%), the United States of America (15.2%), and Africa (Sudan, Nigeria) (13.98%). The frequency of good KAP scores among physicians (KAP: 82.5, 80.66, and 70.5), nurses (KAP: 74.1, 73.07, and 88.7), medical practitioners (KAP: 87.2, 77.58, and 75.1), and technicians (KAP: 76.1, 74.38, and 89.6) were obtained as mentioned. With respect to experience, HCWs showed good KAP scores in 1-5тАЙyears (KAP: 82.4, 83.3, and 74.1), 5-10тАЙyears (KAP: 80.6, 74.54, 83), 10-20тАЙyears (KAP: 74.7, 79.1, and 82.7), and \u3e20тАЙyears (KAP: 84.6, 78.8, and 82.8) categories. CONCLUSION: This study suggests that HCWs have good KAP regarding infection prevention, but there is still room for improvement. Educational seminars and awareness programs can provide better adherence to barrier protection measures such as hand washing, use of gloves, and hand disinfection
