The AGN and Gas Disk in the Low Surface Brightness Galaxy PGC045080
We present radio observations and optical spectroscopy of the giant low
surface brightness (LSB) galaxy PGC 045080 (or 1300+0144). PGC 045080 is a
moderately distant galaxy having a highly inclined optical disk and massive HI
gas content. Radio continuum observations of the galaxy were carried out at 320
MHz, 610 MHz and 1.4 GHz. Continuum emission was detected and mapped in the
galaxy. The emission appears extended over the inner disk at all three
frequencies. At 1.4 GHz and 610 MHz it appears to have two distinct lobes. We
also did optical spectroscopy of the galaxy nucleus; the spectrum did not show
any strong emission lines associated with AGN activity but the presence of a
weak AGN cannot be ruled out. Furthermore, comparison of the H flux and
radio continuum at 1.4 GHz suggests that a significant fraction of the emission
is non-thermal in nature. Hence we conclude that a weak or hidden AGN may be
present in PGC 045080. The extended radio emission represents lobes/jets from
the AGN. These observations show that although LSB galaxies are metal poor and
have very little star formation, their centers can host significant AGN
activity. We also mapped the HI gas disk and velocity field in PGC 045080. The
HI disk extends well beyond the optical disk and appears warped. In the HI
intensity maps, the disk appears distinctly lopsided. The velocity field is
disturbed on the lopsided side of the disk but is fairly uniform in the other
half. We derived the HI rotation curve for the galaxy from the velocity field.
The rotation curve has a flat rotation speed of ~ 190 km/s.Comment: Paper contains 14 figures and 4 tables. Figures 8, 10 (color) and 13

Design and Synthesis of a Novel N-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)methyl Cyclic Peptoid Using Nosyl-protected N-(1-trityl-1H-tetrazol-5-yl)methyl Substituted Glycine
Abstract: A solid phase synthesis of a cyclic peptoid bearing (1H-tetrazol-5-yl)methyl as N-substituent has been developed employing the monomer approach. The requisite monomeric Nosyl-protected N-(1-trityl-1H-tetrazol-5-yl)methyl substituted glycine was accessed by a convenient synthesis involving Click reaction of Nosyl-protected N-(cyanomethyl)glycine methyl ester and sodium azide as a key step. This building block was then employed in the solid phase synthesis of a tetramer peptoid. The linear tetramer was subjected to macrocyclization using PyBOP to obtain a cyclic peptoid with (1H-tetrazol-5-yl)methyl pendants in good yield. © 2017, Springer Science+Business Media New York
Theory of Suspension Segregation in Partially Filled Horizontal Rotating Cylinders
It is shown that a suspension of particles in a partially-filled, horizontal,
rotating cylinder is linearly unstable towards axial segregation and an
undulation of the free surface at large enough particle concentrations. Relying
on the shear-induced diffusion of particles, concentration-dependent viscosity,
and the existence of a free surface, our theory provides an explanation of the
experiments of Tirumkudulu et al., Phys. Fluids 11, 507-509 (1999); ibid. 12,

A Comparative Study Between Alcoholics of Koraga Community, Alcoholics of General Population and Healthy Controls for Antioxidant Markers and Liver Function Parameters
Objectives: It is well established that long-term alcohol consumption leads to liver cirrhosis and other related disorders. Sufficient work has been done on biochemical markers of liver damage and antioxidant status of chronic alcoholics in general population. In the current study chronic alcoholics from a community called Koraga are analysed for the same parameters in a view to assess the extent of liver damage as compared to healthy controls and other alcoholics. Methods: Serum and urine samples from Koraga alcoholics (n=28), general alcoholics (n=30) and healthy controls (n=31) were analysed for liver function parameters and antioxidant markers. Liver function parameters were determined by automated analyzer. Markers of antioxidant status were estimated spectrophotometrically. The data was analysed using SPSS version 16.0. Results: There was significant increase in serum AST, serum ALT, serum GST and urine GST in both general and Koraga alcoholics when compared to healthy controls (p<0.0001). Serum ALT, serum GST and urine GST activity was significantly higher in general alcoholics when compared to Koraga alcoholics (p<0.001). Serum and urine total thiol levels were significantly lower in general alcoholics when compared to healthy controls and Koraga alcoholics (p<0.0001). We have observed no difference in total thiols level between healthy controls and Koraga alcoholics, in fact, there was significant increase in urine total thiols level in Koraga alcoholics compared to healthy controls (p<0.001). On Pearson’s correlation serum AST, serum ALT correlated positively with serum and urine GST (p<0.0001) and negatively with serum total thiols (p<0.0001). Serum GST correlated negatively with serum total thiols (p<0.0001). Conclusion: Results of our study possibly indicate that the extent of alcohol induced liver damage in Koraga subjects is comparatively lower than general alcoholics, even though the alcohol consumption is found to be higher in them. There may be some mechanism that is rendering them resistant to alcoholic liver damage which needs to be explored through further studies at molecular level
Disbond Detection Using Peak Amplitude of Pulse-Echo Signals for Various Thicknesses and Transducer Frequencies
The potential for flaws such as disbonds, corrosion, and microcracks in aircraft lap joints and reinforced doublers is a major problem in the aircraft industry today due to the increasing average age of existing aircraft. Several advanced nondestructive testing techniques are being developed for aircraft inspection, including ultrasonics, thermography, eddy currents, X-radiography, and shearography. The focus of this study is to establish a science base for a cost-effective, reliable, and portable ultrasonic system that can be used for nondestructive detection of disbonds in aircraft structure

A Comprehensive Review of Leap Motion Controller-based Hand Gesture Datasets
This paper comprehensively reviews hand gesture datasets based on Ultraleap's
leap motion controller, a popular device for capturing and tracking hand
gestures in real-time. The aim is to offer researchers and practitioners a
valuable resource for developing and evaluating gesture recognition algorithms.
The review compares various datasets found in the literature, considering
factors such as target domain, dataset size, gesture diversity, subject
numbers, and data modality. The strengths and limitations of each dataset are
discussed, along with the applications and research areas in which they have
been utilized. An experimental evaluation of the leap motion controller 2
device is conducted to assess its capabilities in generating gesture data for
various applications, specifically focusing on touchless interactive systems
and virtual reality. This review serves as a roadmap for researchers, aiding
them in selecting appropriate datasets for their specific gesture recognition
tasks and advancing the field of hand gesture recognition using leap motion

Introducing criteria and indicators for monitoring and auditing forest management in the Brazilian Amazon.
