The economical and technical consequences of applying variable speed drives for pumps in the heating plants

The paper presents the results of applying the variable speed drives as a drives for main pumps in the heating plants and systems. Using only variable-speed drives don't guarantee the good results and efficiency. Also, very important are the good parameters of the pump and technology of water systems. The paper presents the application of the new drives in the 300 MW heating plants. In the first step the head of pumps had been changed, the next technology systems and in the end the two 900 kW electric power drives were mounted. Also the possibilities for quick reaction and adjustable of pumps were upgraded. The article also presents the details of configuration of variable-speed drives installed in the heating plants. The results of the one year work and economical effects have been described. The financial effects are about a half million PLN per year

Wózek inwalidzki stanowi podstawę lokomocji dla osób ze znacznym uszkodzeniem rdzenia oraz dla pacjentów paraplegików z nie-wielkimi niedowładami, ale obciążonych współistniejącymi chorobami układu krążenia i oddechowego. Istotny element stanowi wyposażenie pacjenta w odpowiedni wózek i poduszkę przeciwodleżynową. Wszystkie działania mają na celu przeciwstawienie się statycznemu trybowi życia osoby po urazie rdzenia kręgowego, zwiększenie niezależności funkcjonalnej, poprawienie jakości życia i profilaktykę powikłań medycznych.The modern methods can not replace the adaptation of a patient toa wheel chair and education on its operation. The wheel chair is still the basis of locomotion for people with considerable spinal cord damage, as well as for patients-paraplegics with small paresis, but who are loaded with co-existing illnesses of circulatory and respiratory systems. The essential element in rehabilitation is patient's equipment and ortopedic supports, such as: a wheel chair and anti-decubitus ulcers pillows. The use of ultrasound in the treatment of defects and rebuilding of bones. literature review

Terapia ultradźwiękowa jest obecnie szeroko dostępna oraz stosowana w fizjoterapii i medycynie sportowej. Pulsacyjne ultradźwięki niskiej częstotliwości LIPUS (ang. low-intesity pulsed ultrasound) nie powodują zmian termicznych. Badania kliniczne, zgodne z medycyną opartą na faktach, potwierdziły możliwość ich zastosowania w procesie zrostu kostnego. Celem pracy jest przegląd obecnego stanu wiedzy na temat LIPUS. Do badań wykorzystano platformę Web of Knowledge. Używanym językiem był język angielski. Jako opcje wyszukiwania zostały użyte różne kombinacje słów kluczowych: LIPUS, bone, soft tissue, healing. Wyszukiwania zostały zawężone do publikacji z ostatnich 10 lat z włączoną lematyzacją. 10 prac zostało ocenionych pod kątem skuteczności randomizacji dla potrzeb medycyny opartej na faktach. Badania, głównie przedkliniczne, dowodzą przydatności stosowania LIPUS w przypadku opóźnionego zrostu kostnego lub jego braku. Jednakże niska wartość metodologiczna badań nad zwierzętami bądź liniami komórkowymi sugeruje potrzebę dalszego kontynuowania prac.The ultrasound therapy is now widely available and used in physiotherapy and sports medicine. The low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) does not cause any thermal reactions. Clinical examination, conducted in accordance with the evidence-based medicine, has confirmed its applicability in the process of bone healing. The purpose of the review is to review the current state of knowledge on LIPUS. Web of Knowledge platform was exploited. The language used was English. Different combinations of keywords were used as the search options: LIPUS, bone, soft tissue, healing. The exploration was restricted to the publications from the last 10 years and included lemmatization. 10 papers were evaluated in terms of results efficacy of randomization for the evidence-based medicine purposes. The examination, mainly preclinical, proved the usefulness of LIPUS in the case of delayed union or non-union of bone. However, the low value of methodological studies on animals or cell lines suggests the need for further continuation of the work

Analysis of the influence of a metha-type metaphysical stem on biomechanical parameters

The full postoperative loading of the limb is possible if patients are properly selected and qualified for hip arthroplasty and the requirements as to the proper position of the metaphysial stem are met. The lack of precision, and patient qualification which does not satisfy the fixed criteria may result in stem setting inconsistent with the assumptions. An analysis based on the finite element method (FEM) will enable one to find out how to plan the magnitude of operated joint loading on the basis of the position of the stem in the postoperative radiograph. By analyzing the distribution of bone tissue deformations one can identify the zones where the spongy bone is overloaded and determine the strain level in comparison with the one determined for a model of the bone with the stem in proper position. On the basis of the results obtained one can estimate the range of loads for the operated limb, which will not result in the loss of the stem’s primary stability prior to obtaining secondary stability through osteointegration. Moreover, an analysis of the formation of bone structures around the stem showed that the incorrect setting of a Metha-type stem may lead to the initiation of loosening

The use of kinesiotaping in the after trauma therapy of damaged peroneus nerve - case description

Celem pracy jest przedstawienie możliwości zastosowania i wykorzystania kinesiotapingu jako metody wspomagającej fizjoterapię pacjentów z uszkodzeniami obwodowego układu nerwowego. W Polsce kinesiotaping jest jak na razie techniką rzadko stosowaną w leczeniu usprawniającym. W pracy opisano przypadek 39-letniej pacjentki z uszkodzeniem nerwu strzałkowego prawego, poddanej terapii w Poradni Rehabilitacyjnej Przychodni "Stabłowice" Samodzielnego Publicznego Zespołu Opieki Zdrowotnej Wrocław Fabryczna. W terapii zastosowano elementy różnych metod fizjoterapeutycznych i zabiegi fizykalne. Metoda kinesiotapingu była stosowana przez 3 miesiące. W wyniku terapii uzyskano symetrię ruchu, stabilizację stawu skokowego, zwiększenie zakresu ruchomości stopy i palców, zmniejszenie obrzęku stopy i podudzia, zmniejszenie objawów niedoczulicy oraz poprawę jakości życia pacjentki. Zastosowanie metody kinesiotapingu w uszkodzeniach obwodowego układu nerwowego pozwala przyspieszyć proces usprawniania.The aim of the presented work is to examine the possibility of using kinesiotaping as a method of supporting physiotherapy of the patients with neural system damage. So far, kinesiotaping is not popular therapeutic method in Poland. The 39 year-old patent suffering from a right peroneus nerve injury was treated in the rehabilitation ambulatory in Wroclaw. Various physiotherapuetical methods and physical procedures were used in the therapy. Kinesiotaping was applied for three months. The results of the therapy included improvement of the symmetry of movement, stabilization of the tarsal joint, a significant increase of the foot and fingers mobility, the decrease of oedema, decrease of hypaestesia symptoms and improvement of life quality

Badania epidemiologiczne wykazują, że zmiany stylu życia mogą mieć decydujący wpływ na kondycję zdrowotną społeczeństwa. Celem pracy jest przedstawienie postaw wobec problemu stanu zdrowia i zdrowego stylu życia. Badaniem objęto 52 pacjentów w wieku od 21 do 72 lat. W badanej grupie zaobserwowano niski wskaźnik osób korzystających z aktywnych form spędzania wolnego czasu, które nie wiązały zdrowego stylu życia ze sposobem odżywiania się i aktywnością fizyczną. Na podstawie otrzymanych wyników wydaje się niezbędne podjęcie skuteczniejszych działań edukacyjnych.The epidemiological research shows that the changes of the lifestyle can vastly affect the health of the society. The aim of this paper is to present various approaches towards the health and the healthy lifestyle. 52 patients, aged between 21 and 72 years old, were subjected to examination. The research group showed a low number of people who spend their free-time in an active way. The participants did not find any connection between a healty lifestyle and their nutrition habits or physical activity. It appears to be necessary to start more effective educational activity
