AbstractLow ouabain concentration (1 × 10−4 M) is shown to decrease intracellular K+ (K+in) and to increase intracellular Na+ (Na+in) in human fibroblast cell cultures. The same ouabain concentration was without effect upon K+in ad Na+in in rodent cultures such as BHK-21, mouse fibroblasts and rat glyoma C6 cells. K+in and Na+in in the mixed cultures of human and BHK-21 fibroblasts or human and mouse fibroblasts were found to be resistant to 1 × 10−4 M ouabain whereas that of the mixtures of human and rat glyoma C6 cells proved to be ouabain-sensitive. The gap-junction-mediated dye transfer was revealed between human and BHK-21 cells. Such an effect was very small in the human-C6 cell mixed culture. It is concluded that cells with active ion pumps can support the maintenance of K+ and Na+ gradients in cells with inactive pumps, provided that effective ion transport via gap junctions takes place

The expression of Arabidopsis glutamate dehydrogenase gene gdh2 is induced under the influence of tetrapyrrole synthesis inhibitor norflurazon

The gdh2 gene encoding beta-subunit of glutamate dehydrogenase in Arabidopsis belongs to diurnal-regulated genes. Its expression is highly increased in the dark and reduced to minimal rates at the day light. Some sugar-responsive regulatory pathways are known to be involved in the gdh2 light repression, but the specific mechanisms of this regulation are unknown. In our experiments expression of gdh2 gene increased 6-11 fold in Arabidopsis seedlings grown in presence of the tetrapyrrole synthesis inhibitor norflurazon. The increasing rate depended on the light intensity and did not correlate with the induction of ROS marker genes. This observation can be explained by both a low glucose level in the cells treated with norflurazon and absence of repression by the chloroplast-to-nucleus retrograde pathways because of chloroplast dysfunction. We assume that the diurnal regulation of gdh2 gene expression involves not only sugar-dependent, but also chloroplast-to-nucleus regulatory signals

CLINICAL EFFICIENCY OF LEVOCETIRIZINE IN CHILDREN WITH SEASONAL ALLERGIC RHINITIS AND ITS IMPACT ON THE QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION AND MORPHOLOGICAL INDICATORS OF EOSINOCYTES IN PERIPHERAL BLOOD

Allergic pathology is widely spread among children. In order to perform an adequate therapy and minimize the risk of the side effects, it is essential to develop a differentiated approach of the practitioners towards the prescription of medications in view of their action on the pathological process, interaction with other medications, safety and efficiency data subject to the principles of the definitive medicine. The present article highlights the results of the clinical research of the second'generation antihistamine levocetirizine administration in the allergic rhinitis in children.Key words: allergic rhinitis, antihistamine medications, levocetirizine, action, efficiency, children

Features of chemical-mineralogical composition and processing properties for medium-ferrous bauxites

The features of chemical-mineralogical composition and processing properties of bauxites from Iksinsk and Severoonezhsk deposits are investigated in the paper. It is found that the studied bauxites are coarsely dispersed and low-dispersive, high-alumina clay raw materials with a high content of colouring oxides. According to their mineralogical composition, Iksinsk and Severoonezhsk bauxites are boehmite-hydrargillite-kaolinite clay bauxites. Moreover, Iksinsk bauxite samples are characterized by the total absence of quartz impurities. The samples of plastic molding based on Iksinsk bauxites are fully sintered at 1500 °C with the formation of strong structures with a compressive strength of 70-120 MPa (depending on the variety of bauxites). The samples based on Severoonezhsk bauxites are fully sintered at 1450 °C, and they are characterized by a compressive strength to 70 MPa in the sintered state
