Se concluye que el nivel de conocimiento de los cirujanos dentistas que laboran en la ciudad de Trujillo sobre el diagnóstico y tratamientoThe present study was to determine the level of knowledge of dental surgeons who work in the city of Trujillo on the diagnosis and treatment of dentinogénesis imperfect, purpose sample consisted of 108 dentists collegiate and qualified city of Trujillo taking as reference different aspects, such as ages, universities, sex and tenure or not of specialty. A cross-sectional and prospective observational descriptive study was carried out, in which an anonymous questionnaire-type survey was applied consisting of 20 items created by the author, which was validated by an expert judgment for which the V of aiken was used. The result was that the level of knowledge of dental surgeons about the diagnosis and treatment of dentinogenesis imperfect predominated in the bad level (89.8%); observing that the level of knowledge was bad in all the groups; The highest percentage was obtained according to age in the group of 24 to 30 years (93.2%), according to gender was that of women (90.7%), according to the specialty trend, those with specialty (90.0%), according to the year of titling was the of the last 5 years (95.5%), and the type of university were those of national (91.9%). Only significant difference was found in the group according to the year of titration (p = 0.014 <0.05). It is concluded that the level of knowledge of dentist surgeons who work in the city of Trujillo on the diagnosis and treatment of dentinogenesis imperfect is bad.Tesi

Real time updating of the flood frequency distribution through data assimilation

We explore the memory properties of catchments for predicting the likelihood of floods basing on observations of average flows in pre-flood seasons. Our approach assumes that flood formation is driven by the superimposition of short and long term perturbations. The former is given by the short term meteorological forcing leading to infiltration and/or saturation excess, while the latter is originated 15 by higher-than-usual storage in the catchment. To exploit the above sensitivity to long term perturbations a Meta-Gaussian model is implemented for updating a season in advance the flood frequency distribution, through a data assimilation approach. Accordingly, the peak flow in the flood season is predicted by exploiting its dependence on the average flow in the antecedent seasons. We focus on the Po River at Pontelagoscuro and the Danube river at Bratislava. We found that the shape of 20 the flood frequency distribution is significantly impacted by higher-than-usual flows occurred up to several months earlier. The proposed technique may allow one to reduce the uncertainty associated to the estimation of flood frequenc

On-line adaptive side-by-side human robot companion to approach a moving person to interact

The final publication is available at link.springer.comIn this paper, we present an on-line adaptive side-by-side human-robot companion to approach a moving person to interact with. Our framework makes the pair robot-human capable of overpass, in a joint way, the dynamic and static obstacles of the environment while they reach a moving goal, which is the person who wants to interact with the pair. We have defined a new moving final goal that depends on the environment, the movement of the group and the movement of the interacting person. Moreover, we modified the Extended Social Force model to include this new moving goal. The method has been validated over several situations in simulation. This work is an extension of the On-line adaptive side-by-side human robot companion in dynamic urban environments, IROS2017.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

Long term prediction of flood occurrence

How long a river remembers its past is still an open question. Perturbations occurring in large catchments may impact the flow regime for several weeks and months, therefore providing a physical explanation for the occasional tendency of floods to occur in clusters. The research question explored in this paper may be stated as follows: can higher than usual river discharges in the low flow season be associated to a higher probability of floods in the subsequent high flow season? The physical explanation for such association may be related to the presence of higher soil moisture storage at the beginning of the high flow season, which may induce lower infiltration rates and therefore higher river runoff. Another possible explanation is persistence of climate, due to presence of long-term properties in atmospheric circulation. We focus on the Po River at Pontelagoscuro, whose catchment area amounts to 71 000 km2. We look at the stochastic connection between average river flows in the pre-flood season and the peak flows in the flood season by using a bivariate probability distribution. We found that the shape of the flood frequency distribution is significantly impacted by the river flow regime in the low flow season. The proposed technique, which can be classified as a data assimilation approach, may allow one to reduce the uncertainty associated to the estimation of the flood probability

Living with phenylketonuria in adulthood: the PKU ATTITUDE study

Dietary treatment is the cornerstone of therapy for phenylketonuria (PKU), but adherence to low- phenylalanine diet progressively decreases after adolescence. We designed a survey to characterize the dietary habits of Italian adult PKU patients and to identify psychological factors influencing disease perception and adherence to diet. Participants to the survey (n = 111; response rate 94%) were asked to complete a structured questionnaire. Patients appeared to have an altered perception and awareness of the disease. About 40% of them did not consider PKU a disease and, despite declaring regular monitoring of phenylalanine levels (85%), nearly half of them reported a high plasma value over the last 6 months (>600 μmol/L, 48%) or were unable to specify it (31%). Adherence to PKU diet was unsatisfactory, with increased consumption of natural protein sources and reduced daily use of amino-acid supplements (<4–5 times/day in 82% patients). In addition to the intrinsic characteristics of AA formula (palatability, ease of use), the most important factor influencing their consumption was the increased social pressure associated with their use (55%). Plasma phenylalanine periodical measurements (61%) and examinations at metabolic centers (49%) were considered relevant for compliance to diet. In Italian adult PKU patients dietary management was found to be inadequate, likely due to inappropriate perception and knowledge of the disease, and lack of awareness of the negative impact of poor metabolic control in adult life. Clinicians should consider implementing more intense and tailored educational measures, as well as structured transitional care processes
