    This research studies the association of the cervical condyloma with the intraepithelial neoplasia, during sex activity, pregnancy, diagnose methods, cytology and colposcopy in teenagers. The objective of this research is to study the propaedeutics for the uterine coli condyloma diagnose in a group of teenagers. For this purpose, we have studied 131 teenagers sexually active with ages between 14 and 19 years and presenting histologically confirmed uterine coli condyloma. Association with intraepithelial neoplasia, sexual activity duration, method of diagnose, pregnancy analysis, cytology and colposcopy results and association with vulva and vagina injuries were evaluated. The high association rate with condyloma and intraepithelial neoplasia after a short time of sexual activity and the none presence of macroscopic warts in the genital organs in 80% of cases presenting cervical condyloma, demonstrate that: a more careful investigation with colposcopy and biopsy of the inferior genitals of the women-teenagers sexually active is needed, when presenting modified cervical cytology.113494895

    Fuzzy Gain-Scheduling PID for UAV Position and Altitude Controllers

    Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) applications have evolved to a wide range of fields in the last decade. One of the main challenges in autonomous tasks is the UAV stability during maneuvers. Thus, attitude and position control play a crucial role in stabilizing the vehicle in the desired orientation and path. Many control techniques have been developed for this. However, proportional integral derivative (PID) controllers are often used due their structure and efficiency. Despite PID’s good performance, different requirements may be present at different mission stages. The main contribution of this research work is the development of a novel strategy based on a fuzzy-gain scheduling mechanism to adjust the PID controller to stabilize both position and altitude. This control strategy must be effective, simple, and robust to uncertainties and external disturbances. The Robot Operating System (ROS) integrates the proposed system and the flight control unit. The obtained results showed that the proposed approach was successfully applied to the trajectory tracking and revealed a good performance compared to conventional PID and in the presence of noises.     Gravity stress tibiotalar laxity evaluation with a biomedical gyroscopes device – cadaver study with progressive sectioning of lateral ankle ligaments

    Purpose: Despite the evidence on the role of gravity stress test to access the instability of other ankle injuries, there is limited literature regarding gravity stress on the lateral ankle ligament’s insufficiency. The objective of our study was to objectively measure the tibiotalar angular movement under gravity stress after progressive sectioning of the lateral ankle ligaments. Methods: We performed sequential sectioning of the anterior talofibular (ATFL), calcaneofibular (CFL), and posterior talofibular ligaments (PTFL) in twelve ankle specimens. Under gravity stress, we measured the angular movement of the talus in relation to the tibia. The measuring device is based on a three-axis gyroscope and accelerometer. Results: Comparing to the intact condition, the plantar flexion increased on average 1.78° (95% confidence interval [CI] 1.15;2.42), 5.13° (95%CI 3.10;7.16) and 8.63° (95%CI 6.05;11.22), the rotation increased by 1.00° (95 CI -0.51;2.51), 3.68° (95%CI 1.97;5.40) and 15.62° (95%CI 10.09;21.14), and the varus increased 2.89° (95% CI 1.39, 4.39), 8.12° (95% CI 5.16, 11.07) and 11.68° (95% CI 7.91, 15.46), after sectioning the ATFL, CFL, and PTFL, respectively. The overall changes were statistically significant. Conclusions: There was a significant tibiotalar laxity after sectioning of lateral ankle ligaments when the foot position is influenced only by gravity. The tibiotalar angular displacement was significant when the CFL and PTFL were cut which suggests that the gravity test could be used to assess combined lateral ankle ligament injury.     Patients with haematological malignancies have a higher incidence of infection compared with the general population. Several factors contribute to this but specially chemotherapy drugs carry different and specific infectious risks. This protocol discusses the prevention of infections in patients who will undergo chemotherapy for the treatment of haematological malignancies. It is divided into: study prior to the initiation of chemotherapy; vaccination and eradication prior to initiation of chemotherapy; antimicrobial prophylaxis during chemotherapy; special situations. The main aims of this protocol are to serve as support to a more systematic and individualized approach to patients undergoing chemotherapy for the treatment of haematological malignancies and by doing so prevent the infectious complications that may arise

    The influence of the textural properties of activated carbons on acetaminophen adsorption at different temperatures

    The influence of temperature (20–40 °C) on the acetaminophen adsorption onto activated carbons with different textures was studied. Different temperature dependences, not explained by kinetic effects, were observed for carbons with different micropore size distribution patterns: adsorption capacity increased for pine gasification residues (Pi-fa) derived carbons and decreased for sisal based materials. No significant variation was seen for carbon CP. The species identified by 1H NMR spectroscopy on the back-extraction solution proved that during the adsorption process exist the conditions required to promote the formation of acetaminophen oligomers which have constrained access to the narrow microporosity. The rotation energy of the dihedral angle between monomers (estimated by electronic DFT methods) showed that conformations in the planar form are less stable than the non-planar conformation (energy barrier of 70 and 23 kJ mol-1), but have critical dimensions similar to the monomer and can access most of the micropore volume. The enthalpy change of the overall process showed that the energy gain of the system (endothermic) for Pi-fa samples (˜40 kJ mol-1) was enough to allow a change in the dimer, or even a larger oligomer, conformation to the planar form. This will permit adsorption in the narrow micropores, thus explaining the uptake increase with temperature. Non-continuous micropore size distributions centered at pore widths close to the critical dimensions of the planar form seem to be crucial for a positive evolution of the adsorption capacity with temperature

    Estudo bacteriológico de abscessos causados por picada de serpentes do genero bothrops

    The bacterial flora of 99 cases of abscesses following Bothrops snakebite were analysed. They corresponded to 61.1% of all snakebite abs cesses observed in 1030 patients attending the Hospital de Doenças Tropicais de Goiânia in Goiás, Brazil, from January 1984 to April 1988. An exsudate sample of each abscess was examined by Gram stain, culture and susceptibility tests. The Gram negative bacillis, Morganella morganii, Escherichia coli and Providencia sp were the most frequent bacterias isolated. They were identified in 44.4%, 20.2% and 13.1% of the samples respectively. This flora was similar to those described in snake mouth and venom by other researchers. Based on the results of the susceptibility tests the authors suggested the use of chloramphenicol for the treatment of those abscesses which do not respond to simple drainage.Foi analisada a flora bacteriana de 99 abscessos causados por picadas de serpentes do gênero Bothrops, correspondendo a 61,1% dos casos que ocorreram em 1030 acidentes ofídicos atendidos no Hospital de Doenças Tropiciais (HDT) de Goiânia, no período de janeiro de 1984 a abril de 1988. O exsudato dos abscessos foi estudado através de bacterioscopia, cultura e testes de sensibilidade para aeróbios. Os bacilos Gram negativos foram isolados em maior frequência, destacando-se a Morganella morganii, Escherichia coli e Providencia sp presentes respectivamente em 44,4%, 20,2% e 13,1% das amostras. Esta flora aeróbica foi semelhante à encontrada na cavidade oral e no veneno das serpentes em outros estudos, nos quais predominaram Morganella morganii. Foi sugerido o uso do cloranfenicol no tratamento dos abscessos que não respondam à simples drenagem, face à grande sensibilidade destes microorganismos demonstrada nos testes "in vitro"
