Analytic and Asymptotic Analysis of Bayesian Cramér-Rao Bound for Dynamical Phase Offset Estimation

    No full text
International audienceIn this paper, we present a closed-form expression of a Bayesian Cramér-Rao lower bound for the estimation of a dynamical phase offset in a non-data-aided BPSK transmitting context. This kind of bound is derived considering two different scenarios: a first expression is obtained in an off-line context and then, a second expression in an on-line context logically follows. The SNR-asymptotic expressions of this bound drive us to introduce a new asymptotic bound, namely the Asymptotic Bayesian Cramér-Rao Bound. This bound is close to the classical Bayesian bound but is easier to evaluate

Towards the simulation of the whole manufacturing chain processes with FORGE®

    No full text
International audienceFollowing the metal composition and the microstructure evolution during the whole manufacturing chain is becoming a key point in the metal forming industry to better understand the processes and reach the increasing quality requirements for the parts. Thus, providing a simulation tool able to model the whole chain becomes critical. Physical phenomena occurring during the processes are nowadays better understood, providing always more relevant models for numerical simulation. However, important numerical challenges still exist in order to be able to run those simulations with the required accuracy. This article shows how FORGE® tackles those issues in order to provide highly accurate microstructure and surface treatments simulation features applied on real industrial processes

Vaginal recurrence of endometrial cancer: MRI characteristics and correlation with patient outcome after salvage radiation therapy

Purpose To evaluate MRI characteristics in vaginal recurrence of endometrial cancer (EC) including tumor volume shrinkage during salvage radiotherapy, and to identify imaging features associated with survival. Methods Patients with vaginal recurrence of EC treated with external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) followed by brachytherapy (BT), and with available pelvic MRI at two time points: baseline and/or before BT were retrospectively identified from 2004 to 2017. MRI features including recurrence location and tissue characteristics on T2- and T1-weighted images were evaluated at baseline only. Tumor volumes were measured both at baseline and pre-BT. Survival rates and associations were evaluated by Cox regression and Fisher's exact test, respectively. Results Sixty-two patients with 36 baseline and 50 pre-BT pelvic MRIs were included (24/62 with both MRIs). Vaginal recurrence of EC was most commonly located in the vaginal apex (27/36, 75%). Tumors with a post-contrast enhancing peripheral rim or low T2 signal rim at baseline showed longer recurrence-free survival (RFS) (HR 0.2, 95% CI 0.1-0.9, P < 0.05 adjusted for histology; HR 0.2, 95% CI 0.1-0.8, P < 0.05, respectively). The median tumor shrinkage at pre-BT was 69% (range 1-99%). Neither absolute tumor volumes nor volume regression at pre-BT were associated with RFS. Lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI) at hysterectomy and adjuvant RT were associated with recurrence involving the distal vagina (both P < 0.05). Conclusion Vaginal recurrences with rim enhancement at baseline MRI predicted improved RFS, while tumor volume shrinkage at pre-BT did not. Distal vaginal recurrence was more common in patients with LVSI and adjuvant RT at EC diagnosis

An Improved Measurement of Mixing-induced CP Violation in the Neutral B Meson System

We present an improved measurement of the standard model CP violation parameter sin2phi_1 (also known as sin2beta) based on a sample of 85 times 10^6 B Bbar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. One neutral B meson is reconstructed in a J/psi K_S, psi(2S) K_S, chi_{c1} K_S, eta_c K_S, J/psi K^{*0}, or J/psi K_L CP-eigenstate decay channel and the flavor of accompanying B meson is identified from itsdecay products. From the asymmetry in the distribution of the time intervals between the two B meson decay points, we obtain sin2phi_1 = 0.719 +/- 0.074(stat) +/- 0.035(syst). We also report measurements of CP violation parameters for the related B^0 -> J/psi pi^0 decay mode and the penguin-dominated processes B^0 -> eta' K_S, phi K_S and K^+K^- K_S.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures, 4 tables, contributed to ICHEP200
