Local hemostatic effect of cellulose tampons (Tampax) after stapled hemorrhoidopexy
once hemostasis is obtained after a stapled
hemorrhoidectomy, standard cellulose rectal tampons left in
place for 24 h absorb the local fluids, increase their volume
and exert a local pressure on the stapled line without
