Funkspezifische Vermittlungstechnik in zukuenftigen MAT-Netzen Schlussbericht

The following topics have been addressed in the course of the project: Subscriber movement. Development of a parameter controlled model for the subscriber's movement, based on simple plausible assumptions. It produces consistent distributions of the mobile's whereabouts and cell boundary crossing rates. Control channels. Performance analysis and comparison of different control channel concepts, in particular, separate paging and access channels versus integrated control channels by means of simulation and analytical methods. Analysis of the Slotted ALOHA and the ACE (Access Capacity Enhancement) protocol in a typical MAT-system environment. Automatic subscriber location. Analysis of paging strategies with and without roaming updating and in- and outbooking with respect to the radio channel occupation. In particular, the influences of the size of the paging areas and the searching strategies have been determined. Hand-off strategies. Investigation of hand-off strategies based on field strength measurement; determination of the zone selection rates of a mobile and the number and topological distribution of the hand-offs performed during the crossing of a cell boundary. Structure of the MAT switching network. Modelling and analysis of the MAT switching network which differ in the level of the gateways and routing points. Estimation of the switching and transmission costs caused by a mobile subscriber in the joint PSTN and MAT network.
