This study aims to analyze voter data management in the 2020 Governor and Deputy Governor elections at the General Election Commission of Southeast Minahasa Regency. The research method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method with a research focus focused on the dimensions of planning, organization and supervision of voter data management. Sources of research data consist of primary data and secondary data with data collection techniques using interview techniques, observation and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed by means of data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the planning process in the form of updating voter data had been carried out based on GEC regulations. The GEC together with the ad hoc body that handles voter data, both at the village and sub-district levels, manages the data obtained by juxtaposing the dukcapil data, which in fact contains voter data that does not match, starting from gender errors, even the voter's domicile. In the supervision process, the GEC is running well, which can be seen from the discovery of duplicate data that does not match the identity card and dukcapil data, so improvements are made. The management of voter data for the 2020 Governor and Deputy Governor elections has been carried out well even though there were problems that arose both before and after the election

PURPOSE: The COVID-19 pandemic transformed the delivery of trauma care. We examined the effect of lockdown easing on trauma presentation and management from one Major Trauma Centre (MTC). METHODS: Data was retrospectively analysed from Trauma Audit and Research Network (TARN) on patients presenting to our MTC with trauma. The first 47 days of lockdown (23rd March-9th May 2020, period 1) were compared with the next 47 (10th May-26th June 2020, period 2) and last (27th June-13th August 2020, period 3). Data collected included demographics, mechanism and severity of injury, management and length of stay. RESULTS: 1249 patients were included; 62.2% were male with a mean age of 57.73. Footfall declined in April 2020 compared with 2019 (56 vs. 143) but rebounded by May (123 vs. 120 patients). Road traffic collisions increased over periods one-three (18.8% vs. 23% vs. 30.1%, p = 0.038); deliberate self-harm (DSH) increased in period two compared with one and three (6.3% vs. 3.4% vs. 1.4%, p = 0.03), respectively. When compared with 2019, the 2020 patient age was lower, with less trauma relating to alcohol (7.3% vs. 13.2%, p = 0.009), but more from DSH (3.6% vs. 2.1%, p = 0.10). In 2020 less patients were assessed by a consultant and trauma team, with a shorter stay in hospital and critical care. CONCLUSION: This is the first study to document trauma trends through a lockdown and thereafter. After lockdown easing, trauma footfall rapidly rebounded to 2019 levels. This should be acknowledged in resource allocation decisions if future lockdowns are necessitated

Overweight and obesity among youngsters have grown quickly worldwide in recent decades, including in Malaysia. The major goals of this study are to investigate the psychological impacts that obesity has on children and to find out the quality of life of obese children. A qualitative study design and a phenomenological approach are used in this study. The study used a purposive sampling method. A sample was selected of five obese male and female students aged 11 and 12 years. The selected students attend a government primary school in the city of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. The data collection process was done using the methods of interviews, observations, and document analysis. Based on the findings of the study, there are three emerging themes that explain the psychological effects experienced by primary school students that impact their quality of life. These include: (a) social health, (b) mental health, and (c) physical health complications. In conclusion, this study found that obesity causes an enormous number of psychosocial problems with regard to the personal and social lives of children. Second, this research informed parents about the prevalence of bullying in the home, perpetrated by siblings. Finally, these findings contribute to the growing body of research revealing the harmful effects of weight-related stigma, even at a young age, and may be valuable in modifying public policy about weight discrimination

Insight into catalytic reduction of CO2: Catalysis and reactor design

    Get PDF
Catalytic reduction of CO2 to produce specialty chemicals or renewable energy sources has attracted immense attention because of the possibility of renewable, sustainable alternative energy, and safer environment. Utilization of CO2 as an alternative feedstock for synthesis of biorenewable fuel is one of the numerous strategies essential for mitigation of the greenhouse gases emission into the atmosphere. CO2 reduction occurs at temperature above 413 K and pressure above 1 MPa by using a suitable hydrogenation catalyst. This study investigates the recent advances in catalytic reduction of CO2 via hydrogenation, focusing on catalysis, reactor, and process intensification. Several factors for the effective catalytic reduction of CO2 and recent progress in the reactor design for the system are also highlighted

Overweight and obese children's psychosocial effects: A review of the literature

    Get PDF
Childhood obesity has reached epidemic proportions in both developed and developing nations. Childhood obesity and overweight have been shown to have a negative influence on both physical and psychological health. The goal of this study was to look at the psychological and psychosocial effects of childhood obesity. Obese and overweight children were more likely than their healthy-weight peers to have various related psychosocial issues, which may be affected negatively by childhood obesity stigma, taunting, and bullying. Childhood obesity stigma, taunting, and bullying are widespread and can have significant implications for mental and physical health and performance. Furthermore, childhood obesity can have a significant impact on a child's psychological and emotional well-being, self-esteem, and overall quality of life. To battle the present obesity epidemic, a coherent and comprehensive strategy is required to counteract this rising trend that jeopardises the health and well-being of the next generation

Article first published online: 28 NOV 2013. This item is under embargo for a period of 12 months from the date of publication, in accordance with the publisher's policy.BACKGROUND: Previous trials show good outcomes following anterior and posterior partial versus Nissen fundoplication for gastro-oesophageal reflux. However, it is unclear which partial fundoplication performs best. This study compared anterior 180° versus posterior 270° fundoplication. METHODS: At three hospitals, patients were randomized to anterior 180° versus posterior 270° partial fundoplication, and clinical outcomes were determined using a structured questionnaire at 3, 6 and 12 months. Heartburn, dysphagia and satisfaction were assessed using 0-10 analoue scales, and adverse outcomes and side effects were determined. Endoscopy, manometry and pH monitoring were performed 6 months after surgery. RESULTS: Forty-seven patients were randomized to anterior (n = 23) versus posterior (n = 24) fundoplication. Clinical outcomes for 93-98% of patients were available at each follow-up point. At 12 months, the mean heartburn score was higher following anterior fundoplication (2.7 versus 0.8, P = 0.045), although differences were not significant at earlier follow-up. Conversely, following posterior fundoplication, patients were less able to belch at 3 (56% versus 16%, P = 0.013) and 6 months (43% versus 9%, P = 0.017). No significant differences were demonstrated for dysphagia. Both groups had high rates of satisfaction with the outcome - 85% versus 86% satisfied at 12 months follow-up. CONCLUSION: Both partial fundoplications are effective treatments for gastro-oesophageal reflux. Posterior partial fundoplication is associated with less reflux symptoms offset by more side effects.Australian National Health & Medical Research Council

A comparative study on thermal decomposition behavior of biodiesel samples produced from shea butter over microand mesoporous ZSM-5 zeolites using different kinetic models

    Get PDF
This study compared the kinetics of biodiesel produced over mesoporous ZSM-5 zeolites (0.3mesoZBio and 0.4mesoZBio) and conventional ZSM-5 zeolites (ZBio). The pyrolysis of each biodiesel was carried out in the presence of nitrogen at different heating rates of 10, 15 and 20 C min-1. The reaction order, activation energy (EA) and frequency factor (A) were computed using four different models. The models are Arrhenius, Coats–Redfern, Ingraham–Marrier and Differential model. According to the computed average activation energy based on first order, the activation energies of the produced biodiesel are very close. ZBio exhibits the highest EA (86.53 kJ mol-1) compared to 0.3mesoZBio and 0.4mesoZBio (84.92 and 83.26 kJ mol-1, respectively). Therefore, it is tenable to adduce ZBio as the most stable because higher activation energy engenders higher stability

Synthesis and characterization of highly ordered solid acid catalyst from kaolin

    Get PDF
Crystalline solidacid catalysts exhibit higher catalytic activity and hydrothermal stability in catalytic cracking compared with their amorphous counterparts. This is because of the presence of stronger Brönsted acid sites on their surfaces. Thus, we report the synthesis of crystalline solidacid material by impregnating NaOH into the pores of thermal and acid-treated amorphous aluminosilicate. NH3-TPD, XRD, TGA and DSC revealed the surface acidity, structural and textural properties of the materials. All the kaolinites peaks in the starting material disappeared after the thermal and acid activation. Interestingly, most of the crystalline peaks reappeared with greater intensities at the (0211) band after NaOH impregnation. Further, the crystallinity index calculated by weighted intensity ratio index (WIRI) at (0211) band showed superior crystallinity for the synthesized material than the starting kaolin. This is in consonant with reemerging crystalline peaks. The acidity … This work demonstrates that impregnation of NaOH on amorphous aluminosilicate is a novel route for synthesizing of crystalline superacid catalysts
