Complex unit lattice cell for low-emittance storage ring light source

To achieve the true diffraction-limited emittance of a storage ring light source, such as ~10 pm.rad for medium-energy electron beams, within a limited circumference, it is generally necessary to increase the number of bending magnets in a multi-bend achromat (MBA) lattice, as in the future upgrade plan of MAX IV with a 19BA replacing the current 7BA. However, this comes with extremely strong quadrupole and sextupole magnets and very limited space. The former can result in very small vacuum chambers, increasing the coupling impedance and thus enhancing the beam instabilities, and the latter can pose significant challenges in accommodating the necessary diagnostics and vacuum components. Inspired by the hybrid MBA lattice concept, in this paper we propose a new unit lattice concept called the complex unit lattice cell, which can reduce the magnet strengths and also save space. The complex unit cell is numerically studied using a simplified model. Then as an example, a 17BA lattice based on the complex unit cell concept is designed for a 3 GeV storage ring light source with a circumference of 537.6 m, which has a natural emittance of 19.3 pm.rad. This 17BA lattice is also compared with the 17BA lattice designed with conventional unit cells to showcase the benefits of the complex unit cell concept. This 17BA lattice also suggests a new type of MBA lattice, which we call the MBA lattice with semi-distributed chromatic correction

Phloxine B and bromophenol blue as the sensitizers of dye-sensitized solar cells were investigated via UV-Vis spectra, FT-IR spectra, fluorescence spectra, and current-voltage characteristics. The frontier molecular orbital, vibration analysis, and the first hyperpolarizability were calculated with DFT/6-31G(d). The dipole moment, light harvesting efficiency (LHE), and larger absolute value of driving force of electron injection (ΔGinject) were also discussed. The calculated results were compared with the experimental results of phloxine B and bromophenol blue. It was found that, compared with bromophenol blue, bigger dipole moment of phloxine B results in larger open circuit voltage (Voc) according to the correlation between dipole moment and Voc. At the same time, for configuration of phloxine B, it has higher LHE and ΔGinject, which are helpful to enhance the abilities of absorbing sunlight and electron injection. Therefore, higher LHE and ΔGinject for phloxine B produced a larger value of Jsc

IntroductionRecently, the incidence of chlamydial pneumonia caused by rare pathogens such as C. psittaci or C. abortus has shown a significant upward trend. The non-specific clinical manifestations and the limitations of traditional pathogen identification methods determine that chlamydial pneumonia is likely to be poorly diagnosed or even misdiagnosed, and may further result in delayed treatment or unnecessary antibiotic use. mNGS's non-preference and high sensitivity give us the opportunity to obtain more sensitive detection results than traditional methods for rare pathogens such as C. psittaci or C. abortus. MethodsIn the present study, we investigated both the pathogenic profile characteristics and the lower respiratory tract microbiota of pneumonia patients with different chlamydial infection patterns using mNGS.ResultsMore co-infecting pathogens were found to be detectable in clinical samples from patients infected with C. psittaci compared to C. abortus, suggesting that patients infected with C. psittaci may have a higher risk of mixed infection, which in turn leads to more severe clinical symptoms and a longer disease course cycle. Further, we also used mNGS data to analyze for the first time the characteristic differences in the lower respiratory tract microbiota of patients with and without chlamydial pneumonia, the impact of the pattern of Chlamydia infection on the lower respiratory tract microbiota, and the clinical relevance of these characteristics. Significantly different profiles of lower respiratory tract microbiota and microecological diversity were found among different clinical subgroups, and in particular, mixed infections with C. psittaci and C. abortus resulted in lower lung microbiota diversity, suggesting that chlamydial infections shape the unique lung microbiota pathology, while mixed infections with different Chlamydia may have important effects on the composition and diversity of the lung microbiota. DiscussionThe present study provides possible evidences supporting the close correlation between chlamydial infection, altered microbial diversity in patients' lungs and clinical parameters associated with infection or inflammation in patients, which also provides a new research direction to better understand the pathogenic mechanisms of pulmonary infections caused by Chlamydia

Introduction: Flue-cured tobacco is an important economic crop that is not tolerant of continuous cropping and can be influenced by planting soil conditions including rhizosphere microbial communities and soil physicochemical properties. The relationship between rhizosphere microbial communities and soil physicochemical properties under continuous cropping conditions is unclear. Methods: This study investigated the succession of rhizosphere microbial community in continuous tobacco cropping soil for 1, 3, 5, 8, 10, 15, and 30 years. The physicochemical properties of the soil were measured, high-throughput sequencing was performed on the rhizosphere microbial community, and correlation analysis was conducted. Results: The results suggested that continuous cropping could significantly enrich soil available nitrogen, available phosphorus, available potassium, and organic matter. Meanwhile, the alpha diversity of the bacterial community was significantly reduced with continuous cropping, indicating significant changes in the structure of bacterial and fungal communities. Based on linear discriminant analysis effect size (LEfSe), 173 bacterial and 75 fungal genera were identified with significant differences. The bacterial genera, Sphingomonas, Streptomyces, and Microvirga, were significantly positively correlated with continuous cropping years. The fungal genera, Tausonia, Solicocozyma, Pseudomycohila, and Fusarium, also showed significant positive correlation with continuous cropping years. Meanwhile, the fungal genera, Olpidium, Cephaliophora, and Cercophora, presented an opposite correlation. However, there are differences in the correlation between these bacterial and fungal genera related to continuous cropping years and other different soil physicochemical properties.Discussion: In summary, this work could provide a reference for soil management and scientific fertilization of tobacco under continuous cropping conditions

Tetrabromophenol blue and Bromoxylenol blue as the sensitizers of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are measured in experiments. In order to better understand the photoelectrical properties of the two dyes, we obtain the UV-Vis spectra, fluorescence spectra, and current-voltage characteristics. The frontier molecular orbital, energy levels, the first hyperpolarizability, the first hyperpolarizability density, and molecular electrostatic potential are calculated with density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT (TDDFT). The critical factors including the light harvesting efficiency (LHE (Tetrabromophenol blue for 0.0284 and Bromoxylenol blue for 0.0290), the driving force of electron injection (ΔGinject), x-axis direction dipole moment (μnormal), the conduction band of edge of the semiconductor (ΔECB), and the excited-state lifetime (τ)) are computed, which have a close connection to the short-circuit current density (Jsc) and open-circuit voltage (Voc). The results show that the Jsc (0.09 mA/cm2) and Voc (0.39 V) of Tetrabromophenol blue have larger values, which can be explained by a larger absolute value of ΔGinject, absolute value of μnormal, τ, and ΔECB. Therefore, Tetrabromophenol blue displays well photoelectric conversion efficiency compared with Bromoxylenol blue.Published versio

With the development of global industry, industrial wastewater pollution has caused serious environmental problems, and the demand for green and sustainable adsorbents is increasingly strong in the society. In this article, lignin/cellulose hydrogel materials were prepared using sodium lignosulfonate and cellulose as raw materials and 0.1% acetic acid solution as a solvent. The results showed that the optimal adsorption conditions for Congo red were as follows: an adsorption time of 4 h, a pH value of 6, and an adsorption temperature of 45 °C. The adsorption process was in line with the Langmuir isothermal model and a quasi-second-order kinetic model, which belonged to single molecular layer adsorption, and the maximum adsorption capacity was 294.0 mg/g. The optimal adsorption conditions for Malachite green were as follows: an adsorption time of 4 h, a pH value of 4, and an adsorption temperature of 60 °C. The adsorption process was consistent with the Freundlich isothermal model and a pseudo-second-order kinetic model, which belonged to the chemisorption-dominated multimolecular layer adsorption with the maximum adsorption capacity of 129.8 mg/g

    No full text
Density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) calculations were carried out to study the ground state geometries, electronic structures, and absorption spectra of 4-(cyanomethyl)benzoic acid based dyes (AG1 and AG2) used for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The excited states properties and the thermodynamical parameters of electron injection were studied. The results showed that (a) two dyes have uncoplanar structures along the donor unit and conjugated bridge space, (b) two sensitizers exhibited intense absorption in the UV-Vis region, and (c) the excited state oxidation potential was higher than the conduction band edge of TiO2 photoanode. As a result, a solar cell based on the 4-(cyanomethyl)benzoic acid based dyes exhibited well photovoltaic performance. Furthermore, nine dyes were designed on the basis of AG1 and AG2 to improve optical response and electron injection

Quantitative ecosystem services valuation (ESV) is the key to effective environmental protection and ecosystem restoration. Studies have focused on terrestrial ecosystems and are mainly based on static analyses, excluding marine ecosystem service values and their variability. In this study, we comprehensively evaluated terrestrial and offshore ecosystem service values in Jiangsu Province in 2010 and 2018 using a table of unit area value equivalence factors and a vertically generalized production model (VGPM) to estimate marine primary productivity. The results showed that the terrestrial ESV in Jiangsu Province was 322.740 and 477.798 billion yuan in 2010 and 2018, respectively. The ESV of hydrological regulation in water areas was the highest, whereas that of unutilized land was the lowest. The ESV in different prefectural-level cities exhibited significant spatial heterogeneity and were highly correlated with the proportion, protection, and rational utilization of urban water areas. The offshore ESV in Jiangsu Province was 426.011 and 460.438 billion yuan in 2010 and 2018, respectively; the farther from land, the lower the ecosystem service value. The value of ecological regulation services is the dominant factor in the comprehensive services of terrestrial and offshore ecosystems in Jiangsu Province (accounting for 80% of ESV). From 2010 to 2018, the overall terrestrial and offshore ESV in Jiangsu Province rose by 188.901 billion yuan, increasing by 25.28% from 2010. In future, boundaries of development in production activities should be controlled, the protection and restoration of the ecological environment promoted, and regulatory functions and cultural services of ecosystems rationally exploited
