The technology of glass matrix of the composite material manufactured through a sintering process and using waste foundry sand and waste glass as the main raw materials was studied. The effects of technological factors on the performance of this material were studied. The results showed that this composite material is formed with glass as matrix, core particulate as strengthening material, it has the performance of glass and ceramics, and could be used to substitute for stone

AbstractObjectiveTo evaluate the curative effect of external application of the Chinese drug, Sanjierupi Gao, on mastalgia caused by mammary gland hyperplasia.MethodsThis randomized, double-blinded, and placebo controlled study enrolled 260 patients with mammary gland hyperplasia from five hospitals. Patients were randomly and equally divided into a Sanjierupi Gao treatment group and a placebo control group. An adhesive plaster was applied to the most painful area on either breast for 7 h a day. Treatment lasted for two menstrual cycles without application during menstruation. Mastalgia was used as the main index of curative effect. The change before and after treatment in days of mastalgia, the time to alleviate pain, pain extent, and severe pain scores were observed.ResultsCompared to the control group, the treatment group had significantly fewer days of mastalgia (P<0.01), a significantly lower severe pain score (P<0.01), and significantly less subjective pain and tenderness (P<0.05 and P<0.01, respectively). Three days before the follow-up visit, the pain score in the treatment group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). A non-parametric test was used to compare the time to alleviate mastalgia between the two groups and found no statistical difference (Z=−0.313, P=0.754).ConclusionApplication of Sanjierupi Gao can decrease mastalgia duration in patients with mammary gland hyperplasia during menstruation and alleviate the extent of mastalgia. The time to alleviate pain is psychologically influenced

As a high energy-consuming industry, it is especially important for electric power companies to manage carbon emissions well. This study analyzes the main problems of electric power companies in carbon asset management, and investigates the methods of intelligent, digital and transparent management of carbon emission situation using intelligent Internet of Things and blockchain technology. Carbon emission management based on blockchain technology can improve the accuracy and openness of carbon asset data and promote electric power companies to move forward to the low-carbon ecological era

In the centrosymmetric binuclear title complex, [Pb2(C7H5O3)4(C12H8N2)2(H2O)2]·H2O, each Pb atom is eight-coordinated in a PbO6N2 environment by two N atoms from the 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligand, five carboxylate O atoms from four 3-hydroxybenzoate anions and one O atom from the coordinated water molecule in a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The benzoate groups coordinate each PbII atom in two different ways. Two benzoate ions behave as bidentate ligands to the Pb atom, and another benzoate ion bridges the Pb atoms, forming a binuclear structure. The dimeric units are packed via O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π–π interactions between the aromatic rings of neighboring molecules, with centroid–centroid distances of 3.552 (2) and 3.641 (2) Å

    MicroRNA roles in beta-catenin pathway

β-catenin, a key factor in the Wnt signaling pathway, has essential functions in the regulation of cell growth and differentiation. Aberrant β-catenin signaling has been linked to various disease pathologies, including an important role in tumorigenesis. Here, we review the regulation of the Wnt signaling pathway as it relates to β-catenin signaling in tumorigenesis, with particular focus on the role of microRNAs. Finally, we discuss the potential of β-catenin targeted therapeutics for cancer treatment

K-Domain Splicing Factor OsMADS1 Regulates Open Hull Male Sterility in Rice

AbstractWe identified the rice floral organ development mutant, termed as open hull and male sterile 1 (ohms1), from the progeny of the indica restorer line Zhonghui 8015 treated with 60Co γ-ray irradiation. The ohms1 mutant exhibited an open hull and lemma- and palea-like structure conversion between the anthers and stigma, which resulted in the ohms1 mutant spikelet showing ‘tridentate lemma’. The ohms1 mutant was entirely sterile but had 60%–70% fertile pollen. Genetic analysis and gene mapping showed that ohms1 was controlled by a single recessive gene, and the mutant gene was fine-mapped to a 42-kb interval on the short arm of chromosome 3 between markers KY2 and KY29. Sequence analysis of the four open reading frames in this region revealed that the mutant carried a single nucleotide transformation (A to G) at the last base of the fifth intron, which was likely corresponded to ohms1 phynotype, in an MIKC type MADS-box gene OsMADS1 (LOC_Os03g11614). Enzyme digestion and cDNA sequencing further indicated that the variable splicing was responsible for the deletion of the sixth exon in ohms1, but no structural changes in the MADS domain or amino acid frame shifts appeared. Additionally, real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR analysis showed that the OsMADS1 expression level decreased significantly in the ohms1 mutant. The expression levels of rice flowering factors and floral glume development-related genes also changed significantly. These results demonstrate that OsMADS1 may play an important role in rice floral organ development, particularly in floral glume development and floret primordium differentiation
