Energy Efficient Ant Colony Algorithms for Data Aggregation in Wireless Sensor Networks

    Get PDF
In this paper, a family of ant colony algorithms called DAACA for data aggregation has been presented which contains three phases: the initialization, packet transmission and operations on pheromones. After initialization, each node estimates the remaining energy and the amount of pheromones to compute the probabilities used for dynamically selecting the next hop. After certain rounds of transmissions, the pheromones adjustment is performed periodically, which combines the advantages of both global and local pheromones adjustment for evaporating or depositing pheromones. Four different pheromones adjustment strategies are designed to achieve the global optimal network lifetime, namely Basic-DAACA, ES-DAACA, MM-DAACA and ACS-DAACA. Compared with some other data aggregation algorithms, DAACA shows higher superiority on average degree of nodes, energy efficiency, prolonging the network lifetime, computation complexity and success ratio of one hop transmission. At last we analyze the characteristic of DAACA in the aspects of robustness, fault tolerance and scalability.Comment: To appear in Journal of Computer and System Science

Great or grim? Disagreement about Brexit, economic expectations and household spending

Does political polarization influence economic expectations and behaviour? Utilizing British household surveys and administrative data, we find a strong polarization of economic expectations and behaviour between pro- and anti-Brexit supporters after the once-in-alifetime EU Referendum. We show that the Brexit vote led to a large and long-lasting divergence between Leavers and Remainers in their assessment of the general economic situation, personal circumstances, and spending intentions. Furthermore, on average, a 10% difference in the share of leave voters across local authorities is respectively associated with a 5.98% and 0.78% increase in the gap in the per capita housing transaction volume and licensed automobile stock after the referendum

AbstractThis article introduces innovatory changes and background to inspections of WFD for transport category aircraft which have resulted in the amendment 25-132 of limit of validity (LOV), also indicates a proactive approach which should be taken to address WFD before WFD occurs. With regard to the amendment to regulations on WFD issued by FAA, this article analyzes and interprets the actions of the design approval holder(DAH) and the related compliance methods, focusing on the applicability of the new regulations to WFD and on the methodologies and processes for performing aircraft WFD evaluations which include the determination of inspection start points(ISP) and structural modification points(SMP), the establishment of limits of validity (initial limits and extended limits), the establishment and revision of airworthiness limitations and Airworthiness Limitations section(ALS), the compliance for part 121 and 129 operators under new regulations, etc. Then a number of new research directions are presented in this article for domestic civil aircraft structure damage tolerance design and analysis for the present and the future

Incipient defect identification in rolling bearings using adaptive lifting scheme packet

    Get PDF
Defects on the surface of rolling bearing elements are some of the most frequent causes of malfunctions and breakages of rotating machines. Defect detection in rolling bearings via techniques that examine changes in measured signal is a very important topic of research due to increasing demands for quality and reliability. In this paper, incipient defect identification method based on adaptive lifting scheme packet is proposed. Adaptive lifting scheme packet operators which adapt to the signal characteristic are constructed. The shock pulse value in defect sensitive frequency band is used as the defect indicator to identify the defect location and severity of rolling bearing. The proposed defect identification method is applied to analyze the experimental signal from rolling bearing with incipient inner raceway defect. The result confirms that the proposed method is accurate and robust in rolling bearing incipient defect identification
