COMPARISON OF CHLOROPHYLL A AND THE ALGAL GROWTH POTENTIAL IN THE WEST LAKE

    Get PDF
The present work studied environmental factors, such as temperature, nitrogen, phosphorus, chlorophyll a and transparency of the West Lake. Algal growth potential test (AGP) was performed to determine the influence of the environment elements on the potential of algal growth, and to explain what conditions were necessary for algal reproduction.Article信州大学理学部附属諏訪臨湖実験所報告 11: 35-39(1999)departmental bulletin pape

THE MECHANISMS OF EUTROPHICATION AND A PROPOSITION FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF WEST LAKE, HONGZHOU

    Get PDF
The mechanism of eutrophication in West Lake was studied, and the main factors underlying it were discussed. Based on the results of our discussions, three proposals are made for measurements to improve water quality. These are the effective utilization of drawn water, dredging of bottom mud, and the introduction of activities to promote citizen awareness of the problem.Article信州大学理学部附属諏訪臨湖実験所報告 11: 125-136(1999)departmental bulletin pape

PREDICTION PROGRAMMING OF THE WATER QUALITY AND ITS APPLICATION

    Get PDF
This paper predicts the total phosphorus concentration in the water in the West Lake using a model of the convection and dispersion equation. The theory of the model is presented and predictions are made using a FORTRAN 77 program in a Dell 486 micro-computer. The results of numerical simulations are also discussed. The results presented in the paper have a practicable significance in controlling the environment of the water quality.Article信州大学理学部附属諏訪臨湖実験所報告 11: 99-108(1999)departmental bulletin pape

ECOLOGICAL STUDIES ON ZOOPLANKTON OF THE WEST LAKE AND THE INFLOWS

    Get PDF
Zooplankton ecology of the West Lake and the streams that flow into the lake were investigated during January-December 1995. Protozoans were the predominant group among 252 species of zooplankton, accounting for 50.4% of the total number. Due to the seasonal variations in density and biomass of zooplankton, were studied. Changqiao stream recorded the highest density of zooplankton among seven sampling points, with an average of 10,710 inds./L. The lowest density found was Jinsha stream (886 inds./L). Lake Yue recorded the highest biomass of zooplankton in spring (3,737 mg/L) and the lowest biomass occurred in Jinsha stream (0.055 mg/L) in spring. According to the diversity index, Lake Xiaonan and the three streams belong to the β-mesosaprobic level, while other areas belong to the α-mesosaprobic level.Article信州大学理学部附属諏訪臨湖実験所報告 11: 41-49(1999)departmental bulletin pape

CORRELATION BETWEEN WATER QUALITY AND Chl.a OF PHYTOPLANKTON AND THE COUNTERMEASURES FOR INHIBITING ALGAL GROWTH IN WEST LAKE, HANGZHOU

    Get PDF
On the basis of the analysis of chlorophyll-a and physicochemical factors in the water of West Lake, the results show that algal growth in Lake Beili, Lake Yue, Lake Xili and Lake Wai is affected mainly by water temperature, and is not limited by the high concentrations of N and P in the water. The water quality in L.Xiaonan is better than that in other lake areas, because it lies at the diversion entrance and is directly influenced by drawing water from Qiantang River. Studies on biological control experiments suggested that a reasonable and coordinated ecological system would be more beneficial to the water quality than the other countermeasures.Article信州大学理学部附属諏訪臨湖実験所報告 11: 29-34(1999)departmental bulletin pape

STUDY ON THE CORRELATION OF WATER QUALITY FACTORS WITH SPECIES DISTRIBUTION OF MANGANESE IN WEST LAKE

    Get PDF
In this paper, changes in water quality factors of West Lake and variations in the speciation distribution of Manganese in both water and bottom sediment from June 1995 to May 1996 was reported. The correlation of manganese species distribution with water quality factors was also investigated. The results showed that besides TP, T, TIN, and chl-a etc., Manganese was also one of the main factors which affects water transparency.Article信州大学理学部附属諏訪臨湖実験所報告 11: 73-77(1999)departmental bulletin pape

DYNAMIC VARIATION OF WATER QUALITY IN WEST LAKE AND MULTIVARIATE ANALYSIS OF ITS PRIMARY FACTORS

    Get PDF
Dynamic variation of water quality in West Lake is analyzed based on the data of 1995. Principal Component Analysis is used to reveal the mutual relationships of various factors. It is shown that there exists an obvious special and temporal variation in the main factors of water quality. Annual values of TP, TN, and Chl.a fluctuate seasonally. In addition, Chl.a has a synchronous variation with water temperature, although being lagged a little, and closely relates to TP and TN. SD has a good negative relation with Chl.a. The results from Principal Component Analysis show that SD, Ec, Tw, pH and Chl.a are the most influential factors in water quality of the West Lake.Article信州大学理学部附属諏訪臨湖実験所報告 11: 21-27(1999)departmental bulletin pape

ADMINISTRATION OF THE WEST LAKE WATER AREA, HANGZHOU

The comparison test of the function of aquatic biology, such as Viviparidae, Hyriopsis Cvmingiilleal, water spinach and underwater plants on the purification of the water body, has been made in the test area of West Lake. The result shows that the spiral is the test one to improve the transparency of the water body, then the Hyriopsis Cvmingiilleal, water spinach and underwater plant in succession. At the same time planting method, raising density, purification function of water body, and the possibility of planting, have been studied.Article信州大学理学部附属諏訪臨湖実験所報告 11: 13-20(1999)departmental bulletin pape

A CIRCULATION DYNAMICS MODEL IN THE ECOSYSTEM FOR THE WEST LAKE, HANGZHOU

    Get PDF
This paper focuses the researches on an eutrophication model after drainage of wastewater and drawing water from the Qiantang River to West Lake. The model describes the circulation of nutritive matters (such as phosphorus, nitrogen, and carbon) in the ecosystem of the Lake. The model was established according to observed values of water quality and relevant parameters in 1995. The results of model calibration and verification show that the model can reasonably respond to the changes of forcing functions for drawing quantity and temperature of water. The model has been used to forecast the water quality in different drawing quantities. The predictions given by the model are also believed to be useful to comprehensively harness the West Lake.Article信州大学理学部附属諏訪臨湖実験所報告 11: 87-98(1999)departmental bulletin pape
