Advanced Technology in the Psychomotric Tenacity Study with Implications in Performance Sport

AbstractThe tenacity, regarding perseverance and persistence, is a very important psycho-motric quality for all sports, but mostly for combat sports. Being a quality from the volitive sphere, the measure can only be proven post factum. The indirect, correlative testing offers true information, using a tenacity index based on the solicitation of the excito- inhibitory processes of the palm flexor effort (amplitude, period, consistence, visual control of the oscillation etc.). Our research points out the fact that the tenacity index in significantly higher (300.14) for the right-handed athletes than for the left-handed ones or ambidextrous ones (259.62), at the significance threshold F < F critic (1,16<1,76)

For three years, 2009-2011 period, 25 wheat cultivars with different proveniencewas evaluated for yield, protein content, gluten content and gluten index, in conventional and ecological systems. On data base we made top list, where the equal value was assigned the same number of corresponding points taken place. The most mentioned cultivars in the positive way were: Șimnic 50, Capo, Josef, Trivale, Șimnic 30, Gruia, Izvor, Dropia and Delabrad, they were considerate the most stable for Simnic luvosoil. For yield stability, in any culture system was put in evidence the cultivars: Trivale, Gruia, Ciprian and Litera. For protein stability, in the top of list were the Romanian cultivars: Șimnic 50, Delabrad, Dropia și Dor. Șimnic 50 presented gluten index values about 35 at all technology applied. It is recommended the best quality cultivar in all experiment

PERIPHERAL BLOOD CELL DNA METHYLATION AND HYDROXYMETHYLATION IN PROSTATE CANCER. A PILOT STUDY

    Get PDF
Objective/Purpose: DNA methylation is an important epigenetic hallmark of cancer, including prostate cancer, with a general pattern of global hypomethylation accompanied by hypermethylation at certain gene promoters’ level in tissues. Limited evidence exists on the methylation pattern of blood cells in prostate cancer patients, which this pilot study is addressing. Material and Methods: DNA methylation and hydroxymethylation levels were assessed in peripheral nucleated blood cells from prostate cancer patients compared to controls using fluorimetric ELISA-type assays that directly measure the amount of 5mC and 5hmC, respectively. Results: There was significant difference in global DNA methylation levels between prostate cancer patients and controls, with almost two-fold hypomethylation observed in patients’ blood cell DNA (p<0.0001). There was no statistical significant difference regarding the hydroxymethylation levels. Conclusions: In this pilot study of limited sample sizewe found evidence of different levels of global DNA methylation in blood cells of prostate cancer patients compared to controls. These findings need further replication in future larger studies in order to assess the biomarker potential of blood cells DNA methylation and hydroxymetylation in prostate cancer

The Variability for the Biochemical Indicators at the Winter Wheat Assortment and Identifying the Sources with a High Antioxidant Activity

    No full text
This study presents the variability of some biochemical indicators in the winter wheat assortments tested in south-western Oltenia (Romania) and identification of the sources showing a high antioxidant activity. The peroxidase activity has intensified as the stress induced by treatment with PEG of different concentrations and in different doses increased. Regarding the peroxidase content, among the varieties treated with PEG 10,000 25%, the majority of the Romanian varieties tested showed higher values of the PEG/control treatment ratio, which suggests tolerance to drought. In reverse, the activity of ascorbate peroxidase is lower in tolerant varieties. The varieties with a subunit report have been noted. Among them are the Izvor variety, known as the drought-tolerant variety, as well as other Romanian varieties: Alex, Delabrad, Lovrin 34, etc. An increased activity of catalase was present in most varieties, so there is the possibility of drought tolerance. Among the varieties highlighted are Romanian varieties (Dropia, Trivale, Nikifor, etc.) but also foreign varieties (Kristina, GH Hattyu, Karlygash, etc.). However, the correlation between yield index in the limited assortment and the antioxidant enzyme content ratios between PEG and control treatments does not exist, suggesting that none of these biochemical indicators are a selective indicator for drought tolerance under the experimental condition
