This study sought to determine the effects of Students Teams – Achievements Divisions, cooperative learning teaching strategy on students’ mathematics achievement in sequence and series topic by gender (sex). A quasi – experimental study was carried out on two form three classes in Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Municipality (KEEAM) in the Central Region of Ghana. The sample size was 97 comprising of 44 boys and 53 girls. One class ( n1 = 47) was assigned as an experimental group and the other ( n2 = 50) was assigned as a control group. A simple random sample technique was used to select the two schools that formed the study. The two groups were pretested prior to the implementation of the intervention. At the end of the study, posttest was given. Data collected were analysed using the t- test to compare the performance of boys and girls in the experimental group. The results indicated that there was no gender difference in students’ mathematics achievement after being taught sequence and series through cooperative learning. An ideal group size is hard to obtain in small group settings; hence there are groups with more members than others. The purpose of the study was to find out whether group size has any effects on students’ mathematics achievement in small group settings. Two third year classes of the 2011 / 2012 academic year were selected from two schools in the Central Region of Ghana for the study.Β  The two classes constituted the control and experimental groups respectively and consisted of 50 students in the control group and 47 in the experimental group. The experimental group was subdivided into 12 groups made up of groups of 3members, groups of 4 members and groups of 5 members using stratified and simple random sampling. The students’ pre- and post-test scores served as the data for the study. The results of the study showed no significant difference in the mean scores of the three subgroups of the experimental group. Keywords: Group size, Cooperative learning, Achievemen

A study to assess the choice of science as a vocation and career, considering alpha spectrometry in emergency preparedness, was carried out. The development of a career or a vocation by any individual in the field of science could better be achieved through consolidated plan towards a goal. In this assessment, a number of required variables for developing skills by scientists for the future have been analyzed and considered to be essential in a strategic build-up to a career. Through the various fields of scientificradiation technology from their operation through to waste management, contamination measurement and other radiological analysis are identified to be very important. To make this approach more proficient, certain required variables for developing skills by scientists for the future have been elaborated in this study. Some of the requirements considered are; Education, Creativity, Culture, Employment, Finance and Governance. It was resolved that in evaluating the choice of a career, the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis relating to the parameters (requirements) indicated above cannot be overemphasized in the buildup of a modern scientific career

Investigation the polarity effect and the voltage breakdown in small air gaps

In this paper, a new method of the polarity result in link to the corona current and also the ground effect in small rod-plate and rod-rod air voids is presented. The impact of the polarity of the used voltage to the corona start voltage or the breakdown voltage of tiny rod-plate and rod-rod air gaps is examined. Two kinds of anode pole has actually been researched in this paper with different ranges of voltage and air space ranges. The impact of the grounding is one of the electrode to the area circulation, and also subsequently to the corona onset and the breakdown voltage of little air voids is likewise investigated by speculative experimental analysis

Blended learning as an approach to the development of educational and methodological support of academic discipline

A research study on the blended learning approach to the development of teaching aids for providing basic solutions for nuclear power plant construction - team project, has been conducted. Various tools such as smart tables and smart boards known to yield productive results by renowned and well-established tertiary institutions were employed in this research study. It is challenging to guarantee a perfect teacher-student knowledge transfer, which is expected in the traditional classroom approach. With the many case study assessments researched on, it has been realized that the traditional faceto-face lessons merged with online development and use of electronic booklets, organization of YouTube videos, presentation of digital content, adaptation of 3D animations, and the use of other educational tools are productive-guaranteed models of ensuring the arousing of student interest and encouraging innovative ways in the way students adapt knowledge as showed in table 1. This establishes a goal to develop an enthusiastic friendly and innovative mechanism to satisfy the expected outcome with key performance indicators. Such alternative methods provide students with options to align themselves with the mentality of completing the tasks required for final certification. Blended learning integration into the course work models is therefore a must have tool to enhance departmental development. This paper consist of five (5) pages and one (1) table

Teaching Aids assist instructors facilitate the process of teaching and learning. Instructors are now adopting different ways of delivering the course to fit the learning styles and expectations of the students. Blended learning as a model is being integrated into our teaching and learning as the world seeks for more effective ways of educating people. This paper presents a designed course planner and an overview course syllabus for Nuclear power plants. Challenges faced in adopting blended learning and conclusions were discussed on using blended learning for teaching nuclear power plants as a course
