The need for assessing mental health literacy among teachers: an overview

    Get PDF
Background: The magnitude of mental disorders is a growing public health concern. According to World Health Organization (WHO) reports, one out of five children suffer from a disabling mental illness. Majority of mental illnesses start during the adolescent period. Management of mental illnesses start from recognizing the needy adolescent and providing appropriate therapy and support. Most of the children and adolescents are students who spend almost half of their active time in schools under observation of their teachers. Teachers interact with students daily and can spot the changes in their behavior before they develop full-blown symptoms. Hence, teachers can be a major resource of importance in providing basic mental health services. The teacher’s ability to identify the early signs of mental illness in adolescent students can be considered as the most critical and neglected area. Majority of the studies are conducted in the community or adolescent students and much less attention has been paid to the mental health literacy of educators, who are important role models and youth influencers in addressing mental health literacy. The scenario in India in this regard is highly disappointing with few studies done among teachers

The purpose of the study was intended to assess the effect of yogic and physical exercises on leg explosive strength and agility, for this purpose hundred fifty students studying in various classes of Government high school Nagathan of Vijayapaur in Karnataka state  in age group of 14-16 years were selected. They were divided into three equal groups, each group consist of fifty subjects, in which group-I underwent yoga practices, group-II underwent physical exercises and group –III acted as control group who were not allowed to participated and receive any special treatment apart from their regular curriculum classes’, the training period for this study was six days a week for twelve weeks, the before and after the training period, the subjects were tested for leg explosive strength and agility ability. The analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was applied to find out which group has better in performance, whenever “F” ratio for adjusted test was  found to be significant for adjusted post-test means Scheffe’s test was followed, as  a post hoc to determine which of the paired  means differ significantly. It was drawn conclusions that after the training of yoga and physical exercise both training has improved leg explosive strength and agility, significant increases found in explosive strength among the physical exercise group comparing their counterpart  and agility has ability has been increased in the physical exercises comparing to yoga group.  Article visualizations

“Youth are the salt of nation”. Nations development depends on its youthful productive human resource. Healthy youthfulness emerges from all round development of the children. Physical exercises, sports and yoga play the vital role in ensuring sound health of the children. Sports and yoga help the children physically, psychologically and intellectually. Thus calls for a scientific study development of the children in order to have healthy youth to the nation. Sample: A sample of 200 Sports person and non-sports person were selected for the study. The subject’s age ranged from 19 to 25 years. Method: The subjects were administered the standardized questionnaires for collecting the relevant data.  Article visualizations

Design of a smart system for rapid bacterial test

In this article, we present our initial findings to support the design of an advanced field test to detect bacterial contamination in water samples. The system combines the use of image processing and neural networks to detect an early presence of bacterial activity. We present here a proof of concept with some tests results. Our initial findings are very promising and indicate detection of viable bacterial cells within a period of 2 h. To the authors' knowledge this is the first attempt to quantify viable bacterial cells in a water sample using cell splitting. We also present a detailed design of the complete system that uses the time lapse images from a microscope to complete the design of a neural network based smart system

Improved Association Rule Mining-Based Data Sanitization for Privacy Preservation Model in Cloud, Journal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2023, nr 1

Data security in cloud services is achieved by imposing a broad range of privacy settings and restrictions. However, the different security techniques used fail to eliminate the hazard of serious data leakage, information loss and other vulnerabilities. Therefore, better security policy requirements are necessary to ensure acceptable data protection levels in the cloud. The two procedures presented in this paper are intended to build a new cloud data security method. Here, sensitive data stored in big datasets is protected from abuse via the data sanitization procedure relying on an improved apriori approach to clean the data. The main objective in this case is to generate a key using an optimization technique known as Corona-integrated Archimedes Optimization with Tent Map Estimation (CIAO-TME). Such a technique deals with both restoration and sanitization of data. The problem of optimizing the data preservation ratio (IPR), the hiding ratio (HR), and the degree of modification (DOM) is formulated and researched as well
