    A novel fluorescent "turn-on" chemosensor for nanomolar detection of Fe(III) from aqueous solution and its application in living cells imaging

    An electronically active and spectral sensitive fluorescent “turn-on” chemosensor (BTP-1) based on the benzo-thiazolo-pyrimidine unit was designed and synthesized for the highly selective and sensitive detection of FeÂłâș from aqueous medium. With FeÂłâș, the sensor BTP-1 showed a remarkable fluorescence enhancement at 554 nm (λex=314 nm) due to the inhibition of photo-induced electron transfer. The sensor formed a host-guest complex in 1:1 stoichiometry with the detection limit down to 0.74 nM. Further, the sensor was successfully utilized for the qualitative and quantitative intracellular detection of FeÂłâș in two liver cell lines i.e., HepG2 cells (human hepatocellular liver carcinoma cell line) and HL-7701 cells (human normal liver cell line) by a confocal imaging technique

    Multi-objective optimization of carbon/glass hybrid composites with newly developed resin (NDR) using gray relational analysis

    Purpose: It is seen that little amount of work on optimization of mechanical properties taking into consideration the combined effect of design variables such as stacking angle, stacking sequence, different resins and thickness of composite laminates has been carried out. The focus of this research work is on the optimization of the design variables like stacking angle, stacking sequence, different resins and thickness of composite laminates which affect the mechanical properties of hybrid composites. For this purpose, the Taguchi technique and the method of gray relational analysis (GRA) are used to identify the optimum combination of design variables. In this case, the effect of the abovementioned design variables, particularly of the newly developed resin (NDR) on mechanical properties of hybrid composites has been investigated. Design/methodology/approach: The Taguchi method is used for design of experiments and with gray relational grade (GRG) approach, the optimization is done. Findings: From the experimental analysis and optimization study, it was seen that the NDR gives excellent bonding strength of fibers resulting in enhanced mechanical properties of hybrid composite laminates. With the GRA method, the initial setting (A3B2C4D2) was having GRG 0.866. It was increased by using a new optimum combination (A2B2C4D1) to 0.878. It means that there is an increment in the grade by 1.366%. Therefore, using the GRA approach of analysis, design variables have been successfully optimized to achieve enhanced mechanical properties of hybrid composite laminates.     Damping of gravitational waves by matter

    We develop a unified description, via the Boltzmann equation, of damping of gravitational waves by matter, incorporating collisions. We identify two physically distinct damping mechanisms -- collisional and Landau damping. We first consider damping in flat spacetime, and then generalize the results to allow for cosmological expansion. In the first regime, maximal collisional damping of a gravitational wave, independent of the details of the collisions in the matter is, as we show, significant only when its wavelength is comparable to the size of the horizon. Thus damping by intergalactic or interstellar matter for all but primordial gravitational radiation can be neglected. Although collisions in matter lead to a shear viscosity, they also act to erase anisotropic stresses, thus suppressing the damping of gravitational waves. Damping of primordial gravitational waves remains possible. We generalize Weinberg's calculation of gravitational wave damping, now including collisions and particles of finite mass, and interpret the collisionless limit in terms of Landau damping. While Landau damping of gravitational waves cannot occur in flat spacetime, the expansion of the universe allows such damping by spreading the frequency of a gravitational wave of given wavevector.Comment: 9 pages (10 pages in journal), published versio

    Gas dispersion and bubble-to-emulsion phase mass exchange in a gas-solid bubbling fluidized bed: a computational and experimental study

    Knowledge of gas dispersion and mass exchange between the bubble and the emulsion phases is essential for a correct prediction of the performance of fluidized beds, particularly when catalytic reactions take place. Test cases of single rising bubble and a bubbling fluidized bed operated with a jet without a chemical reaction were studied in order to obtain fundamental insights in the prevailing mass transfer phenomena. Numerical simulations were carried out to predict the dispersion of tracer gas using a two-fluid model based on Kinetic Theory of Granular Flow (KTGF). The simulations of a single-bubble rising through an incipiently fluidized bed revealed that the assumptions often made in phenomenological models in the derivation of correlations for the mass transfer coefficient, mainly that the bubble diameter remains constant and that the tracer concentration is uniform in the bubble, are not valid. The predicted bubble-to-emulsion phase mass transfer coefficient showed good agreement with the estimated values from the literature correlations assuming additive convection-diffusion transport for different bubble sizes and different particle sizes, indicating the importance of the convective distribution even for relatively small particles. Experiments were carried out to measure the steady state concentration profiles of a tracer gas in a pseudo two-dimensional bubbling fluidized bed operated with a jet. The simulated steady state concentration profiles of the tracer gas agreed well the experimental measurements. The radial convection of the gas is significantly influenced by the bubble `throughflowÂż and therefore depends upon the particle and bubble size. The experimental comparison of theoretical results was extended to study the influence of the jet velocity and the particle diameter on the radial dispersion of the tracer gas in the bed

    Objective: This study was conducted to analyze prescriptions of the hypertensive patient and to determine the awareness of physicians regarding antihypertensive drugs. Methods: Prepare a questionnaire by the pilot study on five physicians. Review and finalized the questionnaire after discussion with pharmacologist. The answers were seek for awareness. Moreover the prescription of 30 patients was collected from the same physician who has undertaken the awareness regarding Antihypertensive Drugs. Study was conducted during Oct-2019 to Dec 2019. Results: Average 83% awareness was found in the physician regarding antihypertensive drugs. Lack of awareness regarding diabetes and in ulcer patients was observed. Highest drug is given i.e. ÎČ blockers in antihypertensive patients. To determine the irrationality in the prescription of hypertensive patients. Conclusion: To determine the FDC`s given to hypertensive patients. To determine the type of antihypertensive drugs given to patients
