Real-space entanglement spectra of parton states in fractional quantum Hall systems

Real-space entanglement spectra (RSES) capture characteristic features of the topological order encoded in the fractional quantum Hall (FQH) states. In this work, we numerically compute, using Monte Carlo methods, the RSES and the counting of edge excitations of non-Abelian FQH states constructed using the parton theory. Efficient numerical computation of RSES of parton states is possible, thanks to their product-of-Slater-determinant structure, allowing us to compute the spectra in systems of up to 80 particles. Specifically, we compute the RSES of the parton states Ď•22\phi_2^2, Ď•23\phi_2^3, and Ď•32\phi_3^2, where Ď•n\phi_n is the wave function of nn filled Landau levels, in the ground state as well as in the presence of bulk quasihole states. We then explicitly demonstrate a one-to-one correspondence of RSES of the parton states with representations of the Kac-Moody algebras satisfied by their edge currents. We also show that for the lowest Landau level projected version of these parton states, the spectra match with that obtained from the edge current algebra. We also perform a computation of spectra of the overlap matrices corresponding to the edge excitations of the parton states with a constrained number of particles in the different parton Landau levels. Counting in these matches the individual branches present in RSES, providing insight about how different branches are formed

Role of Drug Repurposing in Cancer Treatment and Liposomal Approach of Drug Targeting

Cancer is the leading cause of death, and incidences are increasing significantly and patients suffering from it desperately need a complete cure from it. The science of using an already-invented drug that has been approved by the FDA for a new application is known as “drug repurposing.” Currently, scientists are drawn to drug repositioning science in order to investigate existing drugs for newer therapeutic uses and cancer treatment. Because of their unique ability to target cancer cells, recently repurposed drugs and the liposomal approach are effective in the treatment of cancer. Liposomes are nanovesicles that are drastically flexible, rapidly penetrate deeper layers of cells, and enhance intracellular uptake. More importantly, liposomes are biocompatible, biodegradable; entrap both hydrophobic and hydrophilic drugs. This chapter summarizes various approaches to drug repurposing, as well as drug repurposing methods, advantages and limitations of drug repurposing, and a liposomal approach to using repurposed drugs in cancer targeting. This chapter also summarizes liposomal structure, drug loading, and the mechanism of liposomes in targeted cancer treatment. The lipid-based liposomal approach is emerging as a powerful technique for improving drug solubility, bioavailability, reducing side effects, and improving the therapeutic efficacy of repurposed drugs for cancer treatment

    Neurofibromatosis 2

Neurofibromatosis 2 is a rare autosomal dominant neurocutaneous disorder classically characterized by bilateral acoustic schwannomas. Multiple other central, as well as peripheral central nervous system neoplasms as meningiomas and ependymomas, are also associated. We present here a case of 18-year-old female with bilateral hearing loss. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain and spine showed multiple intracranial and intra-spinal neoplasms. Bilateral large acoustic and other cranial nerve schwannomas, along with multiple spinal neurofibromas were present. Based on these MRI findings a diagnosis of neurofibromatosis was made
