Planetary companions orbiting M giants HD 208527 and HD 220074
Aims. The purpose of the present study is to research the origin of planetary
companions by using a precise radial velocity (RV) survey.
Methods. The high-resolution spectroscopy of the fiber-fed Bohyunsan
Observatory Echelle Spectrograph (BOES) at Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy
Observatory (BOAO) is used from September 2008 to June 2012.
Results. We report the detection of two exoplanets in orbit around HD 208527
and HD 220074 exhibiting periodic variations in RV of 875.5 +/- 5.8 and 672.1
+/- 3.7 days. The RV variations are not apparently related to the surface
inhomogeneities and a Keplerian motion of the planetary companion is the most
likely explanation. Assuming possible stellar masses of 1.6 +/- 0.4 and 1.2 +/-
0.3 M_Sun, we obtain the minimum masses for the exoplanets of 9.9 +/- 1.7 and
11.1 +/- 1.8 M_Jup around HD 208527 and HD 220074 with an orbital semi-major
axis of 2.1 +/- 0.2 and 1.6 +/- 0.1 AU and an eccentricity of 0.08 and 0.14,
respectively. We also find that the previously known spectral classification of
HD 208527 and HD 220074 was in error: Our new estimation of stellar parameters
suggest that both HD 208527 and HD 220074 are M giants. Therefore, HD 208527
and HD 220074 are so far the first candidate M giants to harbor a planetary

First principles investigation of transition-metal doped group-IV semiconductors: RY (R=Cr, Mn, Fe; Y=Si, Ge)
A number of transition-metal (TM) doped group-IV semiconductors,
RY (R=Cr, Mn and Fe; Y=Si, Ge), have been studied by the first
principles calculations. The obtained results show that antiferromagnetic (AFM)
order is energetically more favored than ferromagnetic (FM) order in Cr-doped
Ge and Si with =0.03125 and 0.0625. In 6.25% Fe-doped Ge, FM interaction
dominates in all range of the R-R distances while for Fe-doped Ge at 3.125% and
Fe-doped Si at both concentrations of 3.125% and 6.25%, only in a short R-R
range can the FM states exist. In the Mn-doped case, the RKKY-like mechanism
seems to be suitable for the Ge host matrix, while for the Mn-doped Si, the
short-range AFM interaction competes with the long-range FM interaction. The
different origin of the magnetic orders in these diluted magnetic
semiconductors (DMSs) makes the microscopic mechanism of the ferromagnetism in
the DMSs more complex and attractive.Comment: 14 pages, 2 figures, 6 table
Core-periphery organization of complex networks
Networks may, or may not, be wired to have a core that is both itself densely
connected and central in terms of graph distance. In this study we propose a
coefficient to measure if the network has such a clear-cut core-periphery
dichotomy. We measure this coefficient for a number of real-world and model
networks and find that different classes of networks have their characteristic
values. For example do geographical networks have a strong core-periphery
structure, while the core-periphery structure of social networks (despite their
positive degree-degree correlations) is rather weak. We proceed to study radial
statistics of the core, i.e. properties of the n-neighborhoods of the core
vertices for increasing n. We find that almost all networks have unexpectedly
many edges within n-neighborhoods at a certain distance from the core
suggesting an effective radius for non-trivial network processes
Light mixed sneutrinos as thermal dark matter
In supersymmetric models with Dirac neutrino masses, a left-right mixed
sneutrino can be a viable dark matter candidate. We examine the
MSSM+ parameter space where this is the case with particular
emphasis on light sneutrinos with masses below 10 GeV. We discuss implications
for direct and indirect dark matter searches, including the relevant

Detection of an exoplanet around the evolved K giant HD 66141
Aims. We have been carrying out a precise radial velocity (RV) survey for K
giants to search for and study the origin of the lowamplitude and long-periodic
RV variations.
Methods. We present high-resolution RV measurements of the K2 giant HD 66141
from December 2003 to January 2011 using the fiber-fed Bohyunsan Observatory
Echelle Spectrograph (BOES) at Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory (BOAO).
Results. We find that the RV measurements for HD 66141 exhibit a periodic
variation of 480.5 +/- 0.5 days with a semi-amplitude of 146.2 +/- 2.7 m/s. The
Hipparcos photometry and bisector velocity span (BVS) do not show any obvious
correlations with RV variations. We find indeed 706.4 +/- 35.0 day variations
in equivalent width (EW) measurements of H_alpha line and 703.0 +/- 39.4 day
variations in a space-born measurements 1.25{\mu} flux of HD 66141 measured
during COBE/DIRBE experiment. We reveal that a mean value of long-period
variations is about 705 +/- 53 days and the origin is a rotation period of the
star and variability that is caused by surface inhomogeneities. For the 480 day
periods of RV variations an orbital motion is the most likely explanation.
Assuming a stellar mass of 1.1 +/- 0.1 M_Sun? for HD 66141, we obtain a minimum
mass for the planetary companion of 6.0 +/- 0.3 M_Jup with an orbital
semi-major axis of 1.2 +/- 0.1 AU and an eccentricity of 0.07 +/- 0.03.Comment: 7 pages, 10 figures, 3 tables, accepted for publisation in Astronomy

Low-amplitude and long-period radial velocity variations in giants HD 3574, 63 Cygni, and HD 216946 (Research Note)
Aims. We study the low-amplitude and long-period variations in evolved stars
using precise radial velocity measurements. Methods. The high-resolution,
fiber-fed Bohyunsan Observatory Echelle Spectrograph (BOES) was used from
September 2004 to May 2014 as part of the exoplanet search program at the
Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory (BOAO). Results. We report the
detection of low-amplitude and long-period orbital radial velocity variations
in three evolved stars, HD 3574, 63 Cyg, and HD 216946. They have periods of
1061, 982, and 1382 days and semi-amplitudes of 376, 742, and 699 m/s,

Monte Carlo simulations of bosonic reaction-diffusion systems
An efficient Monte Carlo simulation method for bosonic reaction-diffusion
systems which are mainly used in the renormalization group (RG) study is
proposed. Using this method, one dimensional bosonic single species
annihilation model is studied and, in turn, the results are compared with RG
calculations. The numerical data are consistent with RG predictions. As a
second application, a bosonic variant of the pair contact process with
diffusion (PCPD) is simulated and shown to share the critical behavior with the
PCPD. The invariance under the Galilean transformation of this boson model is
also checked and discussion about the invariance in conjunction with other

Dynamic instability transitions in 1D driven diffusive flow with nonlocal hopping
One-dimensional directed driven stochastic flow with competing nonlocal and
local hopping events has an instability threshold from a populated phase into
an empty-road (ER) phase. We implement this in the context of the asymmetric
exclusion process. The nonlocal skids promote strong clustering in the
stationary populated phase. Such clusters drive the dynamic phase transition
and determine its scaling properties. We numerically establish that the
instability transition into the ER phase is second order in the regime where
the entry point reservoir controls the current and first order in the regime
where the bulk is in control. The first order transition originates from a
turn-about of the cluster drift velocity. At the critical line, the current
remains analytic, the road density vanishes linearly, and fluctuations scale as
uncorrelated noise. A self-consistent cluster dynamics analysis explains why
