Comparación de los medios Ogawa y LöwensteinJensen en el aislamiento de Mycobacterium tuberculosis de pacientes con tuberculosis pulmonar. Hospital Regional Docente de Trujillo, Perú

The present investigation compare quantitative and qualitatively the culturing in Ogawa and Löwenstein Jensen media, for the isolation of M. tuberculosis in samples of saliva BK (+) in patients of Tuberculosis Program Regional Hospital of Trujillo, Peru. We tried 54 samples of saliva BK (+), being sowed by duplicate in the means of culture(culturing) in study and they were observed every three days for 2 months, the identification of M. tuberculosis was realized by means of the niacin test, according to the technology(skill) described by the National Institute of Health. One thought that 85.19 % of the samples was positive in both means; 39.13 % it(he,she) had growth eugénico in the way Ogawa and 28.26 % in the Löwenstein Jensen, having significant difference statistically. The difference of time of growth between both means was of 1.3 days favorably in the way Ogawa and the difference of the number of colonies between both means belonged to 7.43, not existing significant difference, in both. Therefore, one concludes that both means of culture(culturing) have the same efficiency in the isolation of M. tuberculosis.La presente investigación tuvo por objetivo comparar cuantitativa y cualitativamente los cultivos en los medios Ogawa y Löwenstein-Jensen para el aislamiento de M. tuberculosis en muestras de esputo BK (+) de pacientes del Programa de Tuberculosis del Hospital Regional Docente de Trujillo, Perú. Se procesaron 54 muestras de esputos BK (+), sembrándose por duplicado en los medios de cultivo en estudio y se observaron cada tres días durante 2 meses, la identificación de M. tuberculosis se realizó mediante la prueba de niacina, según la técnica descrita por el Instituto Nacional de Salud. Se encontró que el 85.19% de las muestras fueron positivas en ambos medios; el 39.13% tuvo crecimiento eugénico en el medio Ogawa y un 28.26% en el Löwenstein-Jensen, teniendo diferencia significativa estadísticamente. La diferencia de tiempo de crecimiento entre ambos medios fue de 1.3 días favorable en el medio Ogawa y la diferencia del número de colonias entre ambos medios fue de 7.43, no existiendo diferencia significativa, en ambos. Por lo tanto, se concluye que ambos medios de cultivo tienen la misma eficacia en el aislamiento de M. tuberculosis
