International audienceIn this paper we generalize the Lighthill-Witham-Richards model for vehicular traffic coupled with moving bottlenecks to the case of road networks. Such models can be applied to study the traffic evolution in the presence of a slow-moving vehicle, like a bus. At last, a numerical experiment is shown

Existence of BV solutions for a non-conservative constrained Aw-Rascle-Zhang model for vehicular traffic

International audienceIn this paper we study the Aw-Rascle-Zhang (ARZ) model with non-conservative local point constraint on the density flux introduce in [Garavello, M., and Goatin, P. The Aw-Rascle traffic model with locally constrained flow. Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications 378, 2 (2011), 634-648], its motivation being, for instance, the modeling of traffic across a toll gate. We prove the existence of weak solutions under assumptions that result to be more general than those required in [Garavello, M., and Villa, S. The Cauchy problem for the Aw-Rascle-Zhang traffic model with locally constrained flow. Journal of Hyperbolic Differential Equations 14, 03 (2017), 393-414]. More precisely, we do not require that the waves of the first characteristic family have strictly negative speeds of propagation. The result is achieved by showing the convergence of a sequence of approximate solutions constructed via the wave-front tracking algorithm. The case of solutions attaining values at the vacuum is considered. We also present an explicit numerical example to describe some qualitative features of the solutions

Study of forward Z + jet production in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV

    Get PDF
A measurement of the Z(μ+μ)Z(\rightarrow\mu^+\mu^-)+jet production cross-section in pppp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy s=7\sqrt{s} = 7 TeV is presented. The analysis is based on an integrated luminosity of 1.0fb11.0\,\text{fb}^{-1} recorded by the LHCb experiment. Results are shown with two jet transverse momentum thresholds, 10 and 20 GeV, for both the overall cross-section within the fiducial volume, and for six differential cross-section measurements. The fiducial volume requires that both the jet and the muons from the Z boson decay are produced in the forward direction (2.0<η<4.52.0<\eta<4.5). The results show good agreement with theoretical predictions at the second-order expansion in the coupling of the strong interaction.A measurement of the Z(μ+μ)Z(\rightarrow\mu^+\mu^-)+jet production cross-section in pppp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy s=7\sqrt{s} = 7 TeV is presented. The main aim of this paper is to study the Aw–Rascle–Zhang (ARZ) model with non-conservative local point constraint on the density flux introduced in [10], its motivation being, for instance, the modeling of traffic across a toll gate. We prove the existence of weak solutions under assumptions that result to be more general than those required in [11]. More precisely, we do not require that the waves of the first characteristic family have strictly negative speeds of propagation. Abstract Objective The goal of this study was to (1) Describe the patient population of a newly implemented addiction medicine consult service (AMCS); (2) Evaluate referrals to community-based addiction support services and acute health service use, over time; (3) Provide lessons learned. Methods A retrospective observational analysis was conducted at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, with a newly implemented AMCS from November 2018 and July 2021. Data were collected using the hospital’s electronic medical records. The outcomes measured included the number of emergency department visits, inpatient admissions, and re-visits over time. An interrupted time-series analysis was performed to measure the effect of AMCS implementation on acute health service use at Health Sciences North. Results A total of 833 unique patients were assessed through the AMCS. A total of 1,294 referrals were made to community-based addiction support services, with the highest proportion of referrals between August and October 2020. The post-intervention trend for ED visits, ED re-visits, ED length of stay, inpatient visits, re-visits, and inpatient length of stay did not significantly differ from the pre-intervention period. Conclusion Implementation of an AMCS provides a focused service for patients using with substance use disorders. The service resulted in a high referral rate to community-based addiction support services and limited changes in health service usage

Observation of associated production of a ZZ boson with a DD meson in the forward region

    No full text
A search for associated production of a ZZ boson with an open charm meson is presented using a data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0fb11.0\mathrm{fb}^{-1} of proton--proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, collected by the LHCb experiment. Seven candidate events for associated production of a ZZ boson with a D0D^0 meson and four candidate events for a ZZ boson with a D+D^+ meson are observed with a combined significance of 5.1 standard deviations. The production cross-sections in the forward region are measured to be σZμ+μ ⁣,D0=2.50±1.12±0.22pb\sigma_{Z\rightarrow\mu^+\mu^-\!,D^0} = 2.50\pm1.12\pm0.22pb σZμ+μ ⁣,D+=0.44±0.23±0.03pb,\sigma_{Z\rightarrow\mu^+\mu^-\!,D^+} = 0.44\pm0.23\pm0.03pb, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic

The differential cross-section as a function of rapidity has been measured for the exclusive production of J/ψJ/\psi and ψ(2S)\psi(2S) mesons in proton-proton collisions at s=7\sqrt{s}=7 TeV, using data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 930 pb1^{-1}. The cross-sections times branching fractions to two muons having pseudorapidities between 2.0 and 4.5 are measured to be σppJ/ψμ+μ(2.0<ημ±<4.5)=291±7±19 pb,σppψ(2S)μ+μ(2.0<ημ±<4.5)=6.5±0.9±0.4 pb,\begin{array}{rl} \sigma_{pp\rightarrow J/\psi\rightarrow{\mu^+}{\mu^-}}(2.0<\eta_{\mu^\pm }<4.5)=&291\pm 7\pm19 {\rm \ pb},\\ \sigma_{pp\rightarrow\psi(2S)\rightarrow{\mu^+}{\mu^-}}(2.0<\eta_{\mu^\pm}<4.5)=&6.5\pm 0.9\pm 0.4 {\rm \ pb},\end{array} where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The measurements agree with next-to-leading order QCD predictions as well as with models that include saturation effects. Decays of beauty baryons to the D0phD^0 p h^- and Λc+h\Lambda_c^+ h^- final states (where hh indicates a pion or a kaon) are studied using a data sample of pppp collisions, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb1^{-1}, collected by the LHCb detector. The Cabibbo-suppressed decays Λb0D0pK\Lambda_b^0\to D^0 p K^- and Λb0Λc+K\Lambda_b^0\to \Lambda_c^+ K^- are observed and their branching fractions are measured with respect to the decays Λb0D0pπ\Lambda_b^0\to D^0 p \pi^- and Λb0Λc+π\Lambda_b^0\to \Lambda_c^+ \pi^-. In addition, the first observation is reported of the decay of the neutral beauty-strange baryon Ξb0\Xi_b^0 to the D0pKD^0 p K^- final state, and a measurement of the Ξb0\Xi_b^0 mass is performed. Evidence of the Ξb0Λc+K\Xi_b^0\to \Lambda_c^+ K^- decay is also reported.Decays of beauty baryons to the D0ph− and Λc+h− final states (where h indicates a pion or a kaon) are studied using a data sample of pp collisions, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0  fb−1, collected by the LHCb detector.
