Redescription of Hemileius suramericanus (Acari, Oribatida, Scheloribatidae) with comments about Neotropical congeneric species
This paper represents the first redescription of Hemileius suramericanus (Hammer, 1958) (Oribatida, Scheloribatidae). Morphological and chaetotactic details are added to original Hammer's description. The species is compared with others Neotropical species of Hemileius and two new synonyms, H. laticlava and H. confundatus sensu Hammer, are proposed.Fil: Fredes, Natalia. Index for asset value measure obtained from condition monitoring digitalized data interpretation. A railway asset management application
Hosted by the Johannes Kepler University, Linz, Austria. May 23-24, 2019The objective of any asset is to provide value to the organization, being the corner
stone to get a highest possible economic benefit in a sustainable way. An effective
asset value management demands method that allow measuring and comparing the
expected value with the real value realized at any time during its life cycle for value
informed decision-making. Digitalization is providing new data about events and
states related to asset condition and risk, information that can be reinterpreted to
generate value measure strategies. This paper presents a proposal of TVO (Total
Value of Ownership) model where it is possible to quantify and measure the value, including its monitoring throughout the life cycle of the asset and/or system.
Proposed TVO model is focused on Safety, one of the most relevant value factors for
Industry and Infrastructure sectors. Asset events and states are intrinsically linked to
the defined failure modes. Consequently, it is necessary to structure the system
information around the failure modes that have been defined, in order to obtain a
value measurement index. A railway use case is presented

Steady State Detection of Chemical Reaction Networks Using a Simplified Analytical Method
Chemical reaction networks (CRNs) are susceptible to mathematical modelling. The dynamic behavior of CRNs can be investigated by solving the polynomial equations derived from its structure. However, simple CRN give rise to non-linear polynomials that are difficult to resolve. Here we propose a procedure to locate the steady states of CRNs from a formula derived through algebraic geometry methods. We have applied this procedure to define the steady states of a classic CRN that exhibits instability, and to a model of programmed cell death
Code Detection for Hardware Acceleration Using Large Language Models
Large language models (LLMs) have been massively applied to many tasks, often
surpassing state-of-the-art approaches. While their effectiveness in code
generation has been extensively studied (e.g., AlphaCode), their potential for
code detection remains unexplored.
This work presents the first analysis of code detection using LLMs. Our study
examines essential kernels, including matrix multiplication, convolution, and
fast-fourier transform, implemented in C/C++. We propose both a preliminary,
naive prompt and a novel prompting strategy for code detection.
Results reveal that conventional prompting achieves great precision but poor
accuracy (68.8%, 22.3%, and 79.2% for GEMM, convolution, and FFT, respectively)
due to a high number of false positives. Our novel prompting strategy
substantially reduces false positives, resulting in excellent overall accuracy
(91.1%, 97.9%, and 99.7%, respectively). These results pose a considerable
challenge to existing state-of-the-art code detection methods
Erroneous measurement of haemodynamic parameters by PiCCOâ„¢ monitor in a critically ill patient with renal replacement therapy: a case report
The PiCCOâ„¢ monitor (Pulsion Medical System, Melsungen, Hessen, Germany) has become an alternative method of haemodynamic invasive monitoring for the critically ill patient. The determination of the continuous cardiac output by arterial pulse contour analysis requires the periodic calibration of the monitor. This calibration is performed by the injection of a bolus of 15-20 ml cold saline through a central line catheter [1-3].
We present the case of a 54-year-old woman with breast cancer who underwent cord decompression surgery for bone metastasis. On the seventh postoperative day she developed multiorgan system failure (septic shock + respiratory insufficiency + acute renal failure + disseminated intra-vascular coagulopathy) due to nosocomial pneumonia. The patient was admitted to the intensive care unit and the PiCCOâ„¢ monitor was used for invasive haemodynamic monitoring. A Certofixâ„¢ Trio HF catheter (Braun, Munich, Bayern, Germany) was placed uneventfully in the right internal jugular vein to carry out continuous venous-venous haemodialysis (CVVH-D). The Certofixâ„¢ Trio HF is a triple-lumen catheter made of polyurethane with three lumens (first channel, distal = 16 G; second channel, middle = 12 G; and third channel, proximal = 12 G). The distal lumen was used for the calibrations of the PiCCOâ„¢ monitor due to the high-risk of insertion of another central line in a patient with severe coagulopathy. The analysis of the area under the thermo-dilution curve showed a hypodynamic state that was treated following the PiCCOâ„¢ monitor algorith
Investment in R&D and its link with income: theory and inquiry about the behaviour of the European economies
utilizado tanto el análisis de correlaciones como el quick cluster.______________________________________________We are living a time in which the economies are operating on a global scale
and are affected by an intense technological change. In this context, innovation
emerges as a key factor to enhance the productivity in the economic systems.
This variable becomes fundamental for increasing the competitiveness of
European economies.
This paper inquires into the link between investment in innovation and
income level in 15 European countries, not only studying each of them, but
also trying to find groups with similar spending patterns of behaviour. It has
been taken into account variables such as the level and composition of R&D
outlays, the proportion of this investment into the GDP and how much of it is
spent by Public Sector. Correlation analysis and quick cluster have been the
statistical tools used to undertake this task
