Poster PresentationINTRODUCTION: Hypoadiponectinaemia has been shown to predict the development of type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and myocardial infarction in prospective studies. We have previously reported that hypoadiponectinaemia is associated with impaired endothelium-dependent vasodilation both in healthy controls and diabetic subjects. In this community-based prospective cohort study, we examined the predictive value of serum adiponectin levels on carotid intima-medial thickness, a marker of …published_or_final_versionThe 17th Medical Research Conference, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, 14 January 2012. ANALYSIS OF A MOS INTEGRATED GAS SENSOR USING A SURFACE-CHEMISTRY BASED MODEL

    No full text
To facilitate gas sensor design with the associated signal-conditioning circuitry, a previously developed gas adsorption model is implemented in the popular circuit simulation program SPICE. The model is based on the gas adsorption theory. With the adsorption model implemented in SPICE, the performance of a MOSFET gas sensor integrated with the associated circuitry can be studied. The analysis was applied to three sensors, namely, the H-2 sensor, the NH3 sensor and the CO sensor. A noise analysis of the sensors was also performed and their lower bounds of detectivity determined. A chopper-stabilized circuit was applied to the sensing circuitry. Simulation results show that noise in gas sensors can be reduced

Solutions of wormhole in the charged Generalized Brans-Dicke Theory

    No full text
We use the charged Generalized Brans-Dicke Theory (GBDT), in which Pauli metric is considered as the physical space-time metric, to find the solutions of wormhole. No matter the rate of change of the dilaton scalar field σ is vanished or not, analytic solutions are obtained. Even a rank-three anti-symmetric axion field is included, analytic solutions are also obtained. But the size of the wormhole throat depends on the charges of the dilaton field and the axion field. Inflation in Bianchi type-IX Einstein-Cartan cosmological model

    No full text
Within the framework of Einstein-Cartan theory with Weyssenhoff fluid, we investigate an inflation model for an anisotropic Bianchi type-IX cosmological model. The system of field equations is solved numerically and an inflation epoch is achieved. The general condition for the inflation to occur is also discussed. This anisotropic model evolves quickly towards to an isotropic one.link_to_subscribed_fulltex

Reactive sputtered TiO2 thin film humidity sensor with negative substrate bias

    No full text
This study has demonstrated a simple fabrication process of a thin film ceramic relative humidity sensing chip at low temperature, 500 degreesC. This process window to optimize sensitivity and hysteresis performance of the sensor has been studied using negative sputtering substrate bias and annealing duration. This proposed optimizing method yields an adjustable rutile/anatase phase ratio of titanium oxide. It shows improvement to the hysteresis of sensors and obtains good sensitivity, which is greater than four-orders of magnitude change in de current over 11-97\% relative humidity.
