Asymptotic Regularity and Exponential Attractors for Nonclassical Diusion Equations With Critical Exponent

    Get PDF
In  this  paper, we  consider the dynamical behavior of the nonclassical diffusion equation when nonlinearity is critical for both two cases: the forcing term belongs to H −1 (Ω) and L2 (Ω). For the case the forcing term only belongs to H −1 (Ω), based on the asymptotic regularity in Dynamical Systems: An International  Journal, 26 (4), (2011), 391–400, we prove  the existence of exponential attractors in weak topological space H 1 (Ω). For the case the forcing term belongs to L2 (Ω), we prove the asymptotic regularity of the solutions and exponential attractors

Expanding the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) universe : an update on MAP4Ks

    Get PDF
Phosphorylation-mediated signaling cascades control plant growth and development or the response to stress conditions. One of the best studied signaling cascades is the one regulated by MITOGEN-ACTIVATED PROTEIN KINASEs (MAPKs). However, MITOGEN-ACTIVATED PROTEIN KINASE KINASE KINASE KINASEs (MAP4Ks) are hardly explored. Here, we will give a comprehensive overview of what is known about plant MAP4Ks and highlight some outstanding questions associated with this largely uncharacterized class of kinases in plants

Accurate Guidance Method and App Development for Assigning Parking Spaces Based on Indoor Wi-Fi

    Get PDF
Existing parking guidance systems only provide road guidance outside the parking lot but do not provide accurate guidance to specific parking spaces inside the parking lot. By using a Kalman filter, the Grubbs test, and a neural network algorithm to improve the RSSI-based location fingerprint identification technology, an accurate location method based on indoor Wi-Fi is obtained, which implements precise route guidance and a reverse search function for parking spaces. We utilize Beidou positioning to develop a Gaode map for outdoor navigation and use an integrated system of ultrasonic detector/indicators and ground locks to manage parking spaces. Through the secondary development of an Android system and the application of a MySql database, an app for precise parking guidance was developed. The system makes full use of the Internet and parking information, eliminates information asymmetry, improves the utilization ratio of the urban static traffic resources, allocates parking spaces in real-time, breaks information islands, provides parking search and recommendation functions for users, achieves parking information-sharing, and effectively improves parking efficiency and the parking utilization ratio

Advanced Methods in Neural Networks-Based Sensitivity Analysis with their Applications in Civil Engineering

    Get PDF
Artificial neural networks (ANNs) are powerful tools that are used in various engineering fields. Their characteristics enable them to solve prediction, regression, and classification problems. Nevertheless, the ANN is usually thought of as a black box, in which it is difficult to determine the effect of each explicative variable (input) on the dependent variables (outputs) in any problem. To investigate such effects, sensitivity analysis is usually applied on the optimal pre-trained ANN. Existing sensitivity analysis techniques suffer from drawbacks. Their basis on a single optimal pre-trained ANN model produces instability in parameter sensitivity analysis because of the uncertainty in neural network modeling. To overcome this deficiency, two successful sensitivity analysis paradigms, the neural network committee (NNC)-based sensitivity analysis and the neural network ensemble (NNE)-based parameter sensitivity analysis, are illustrated in this chapter. An NNC is applied in a case study of geotechnical engineering involving strata movement. An NNE is implemented for sensitivity analysis of two classic problems in civil engineering: (i) the fracture failure of notched concrete beams and (ii) the lateral deformation of deep-foundation pits. Results demonstrate good ability to analyze the sensitivity of the most influential parameters, illustrating the underlying mechanisms of such engineering systems

Grazing Alters Ecosystem Functioning and C:N:P Stoichiometry of Grasslands along a Regional Precipitation

Grasslands have experienced dramatic shifts in structure and functioning driven primarily by human disturbances and global climate change. The long-term grazing has resulted in widespread declines in biodiversity and ecosystem functioning and services. This is triggered by the direct and indirect effects of grazing and often mediated by the complex interactions between vegetation and environmental. Thus, it is critical to obtain a better understanding of how grazing, abiotic factors and biotic–abiotic interactions influence key properties of ecosystem functioning and sustainability and thereby provide guideline for improving grassland management practices in the Eurasian steppe. While abundant evidence demonstrates that heavy grazing alters the ecosystem structure and function of grass- lands, research on how grazing specifically affects ecosystem functioning and stoichiometry on broad scales is scarce because of a lack of adequate ungrazed reference sites. We examined the effects of grazing on ecosystem functioning and C:N:P stoichiometry along the 700 km China–Mongolia transect (CMT) using consistent methods. The CMT, which covers a wide range of biotic and abiotic conditions, enables us to observe the total effects of multiple mechanisms that probably operate simultaneously but vary in their relative strengths across regions. The key research questions we are trying to address are: 1) How has grazing affected ecosystem functioning (i.e. species richness, above- and below-ground biomass and litter biomass) and C:N:P stoichiometry of grasslands along the regional precipitation gradient during the last 50 years? 2) How do the responses of plant and soil C, N and P pools and stoichiometry to grazing differ among community types? 3) What is the relative importance of plant functional group (PFG) composition and species plasticity in influencing ecosystem functioning and stoichiometry

Public-key Cryptosystems and Signature Schemes from p-adic Lattices

    Get PDF
In 2018, the longest vector problem and closest vector problem in local fields were introduced, as the p-adic analogues of the shortest vector problem and closest vector problem in lattices of Euclidean spaces. They are considered to be hard and useful in constructing cryptographic primitives, but no applications in cryptography were given. In this paper, we construct the first signature scheme and public-key encryption cryptosystem based on p-adic lattice by proposing a trapdoor function with the orthogonal basis of p-adic lattice. These cryptographic schemes have reasonable key size and efficiency, which shows that p-adic lattice can be a new alternative to construct cryptographic primitives and well worth studying

Irreversible dual inhibitory mode: the novel Btk inhibitor PLS-123 demonstrates promising anti-tumor activity in human B-cell lymphoma.

The B-cell receptor (BCR) signaling pathway has gained significant attention as a therapeutic target in B-cell malignancies. Recently, several drugs that target the BCR signaling pathway, especially the Btk inhibitor ibrutinib, have demonstrated notable therapeutic effects in relapsed/refractory patients, which indicates that pharmacological inhibition of BCR pathway holds promise in B-cell lymphoma treatment. Here we present a novel covalent irreversible Btk inhibitor PLS-123 with more potent anti-proliferative activity compared with ibrutinib in multiple cellular and in vivo models through effective apoptosis induction and dual-action inhibitory mode of Btk activation. The phosphorylation of BCR downstream activating AKT/mTOR and MAPK signal pathways was also more significantly reduced after treatment with PLS-123 than ibrutinib. Gene expression profile analysis further suggested that the different selectivity profile of PLS-123 led to significant downregulation of oncogenic gene PTPN11 expression, which might also offer new opportunities beyond what ibrutinib has achieved. In addition, PLS-123 dose-dependently attenuated BCR- and chemokine-mediated lymphoma cell adhesion and migration. Taken together, Btk inhibitor PLS-123 suggested a new direction to pharmacologically modulate Btk function and develop novel therapeutic drug for B-cell lymphoma treatment
