    Knowledge and practice regarding menstrual hygiene among adolescent girls of rural field practice area of RIMS, Raipur (C. G.), India

    Background: Adolescent age group among girls have been recognized as a special period which signifies the transition from girlhood to womanhood. Menstruation is generally considered as unclean in the Indian society. Most of the adolescent girls had incomplete and inaccurate information about the menstrual physiology and hygiene as reported by many Indian studies. Very few authors have included the detailed aspects of the menstrual practices among adolescent girls.Methods: The current Community based cross sectional study was conducted by department of obstetrics and Gynaecology in connection with department of community medicine, Raipur Institute of Medical Science, Raipur (C.G), India. Among the adolescent school going girls in the field practice area of the Rural Health Unit and Training Centre during study period of 6 month from July 2017 to December 2017. 263 girls from the above mentioned schools, of the 8th and 9th standards, were selected for the study.Results: Majority of the school going adolescent girls belongs to 13 and 14 year of age. 50.95% , 21.67% and 12.93% girls reported that they had their menarche at the age of 13 year, 12 year and 14 year respectively. Majority of the girls were using cloth (49.81%) and only 17.87% were using sanitary napkins. Cleaning of external genitalia was not satisfactory in 32.70% of the girls. Only 58.17% girls used both soap and water for cleaning the genitalia. Pain in abdomen (59.70%) was found to be the most frequent complaint during menstruation.Conclusions: Knowledge on menstruation is sub-optimal and the practices are unacceptable for proper hygiene among study subjects.     Meeting the Challenges for Relic Neutrino Detection

    Inspired by Gounaris-Sakurai and Lee-Zumino, we postulate that the weak vector and axial vector currents are dominated by JPC=1āˆ’āˆ’J^{PC} = 1^{--} and 1++1^{++} resonances respectively in the appropriate channels of Ī½+Ī½Ė‰\nu + \bar \nu annihilation into quark-antiquark pairs when an ultrahigh-energy incoming Ī½Ā (Ī½Ė‰)\nu \ (\bar \nu) strikes a relic Ī½Ė‰Ā (Ī½)\bar \nu \ (\nu). Despite this and some other ideas, it appears the detection of relic neutrinos with just the Standard Model interactions seems extremely difficult at existing or future neutrino telescopes.     Anomalous Thermoelectric power of over-doped Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 superconductor

    Temperature dependence of thermoelectric power S(T) of three differently processed Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 (Bi2212) samples, viz. as-processed melt quenched (Bi2212-MQ), 6000C N2-annealed (Bi2212-N2) and 6000C O2-annealed (Bi2212-O2) is reported here. All the samples possess single-phase character and their superconducting transition temperatures (TcR=0) are 85 K, 90 K and 72 K respectively for Bi2212-MQ, Bi2212-N2 and Bi2212-O2. While Bi2212-MQ and Bi2212-N2 samples are in near optimum doping regime, Bi2212-O2 is an over-doped sample. TcS=0 values obtained through S(T) data are also in line with those deduced from the temperature dependence of resistance and DC magnetization. Interestingly, S(T) behaviour of the optimally-doped Bi2212-MQ and Bi2212-N2 samples is seen to be positive in whole temperature range, it is found negative for the over-doped Bi2212-O2 sample above TcS=0. These results have been seen in the light of the recent band structure calculations and the ensuing split Fermi surface as determined by angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (ARPES).Comment: 11 Pages Text + Figs: comments welcome ([email protected]

    Level of satisfaction of patients attending out-patient department of radiotherapy department of a tertiary hospital in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India

    Background: Like any service organization, the main aim of the Health Service organization is creation of satisfaction among their service consumers. Patient satisfaction has been defined as the degree of congruency between a patientā€™s expectations of ideal case versus his perception of real care he or she receives. Mismatch between patientā€™s expectation of the service received is related to decreased satisfaction. Therefore, assessing patient perspective gives them a voice, which can make public health services more responsive to peopleā€™s needs and expectations.Methods: The study used IN-PATSAT32 questionnaire developed by the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) with a few modifications to suit all the patients (in or out-patients). Sample size:200 patients.Results: Out of total patients assessed, 41.5% of patients were highly satisfied(excellent), 56% of patients were satisfied with the services provided by the radiotherapy department at Dr. B. R. A. M. hospital, Raipur and only 5% of patients rated the services as ā€œpoorā€ i.e. weā€™re not satisfied.Conclusions: The findings of the study will help us educate the prescribers about the various neglected areas of the consultation which will go a long way to develop a consistent relationship between the providers and the beneficiaries for the attainment of the ā€œHealth for all

    A New Probe of Relic Neutrino Clustering using Cosmogenic Neutrinos

    We propose a new probe of cosmic relic neutrinos (CĪ½\nuB) using their resonant scattering against cosmogenic neutrinos. Depending on the lightest neutrino mass and the energy spectrum of the cosmogenic neutrino flux, a Standard Model vector meson (such as a hadronic Ļ\rho) resonance can be produced via Ī½Ī½Ė‰\nu\bar{\nu} annihilation. This leads to a distinct absorption feature in the cosmogenic neutrino flux at an energy solely determined by the meson mass and the neutrino mass, apart from redshift. By numerical coincidence, the position of the Ļ\rho-resonance overlaps with the originally predicted peak of the Greisen-Zatsepin-Kuzmin (GZK) neutrino flux, which offers an enhanced absorption effect at higher redshifts. We show that this absorption feature in the GZK neutrino flux may be observable in future radio-based neutrino observatories, such as IceCube-Gen2 radio, provided there exists a large overdensity in the CĪ½\nuB distribution. This therefore provides a new probe of CĪ½\nuB clustering at large redshifts, complementary to the laboratory probes (such as KATRIN) at zero redshift.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, corrected prefactor in Eq.     Probing the muon (g-2) anomaly at the LHC in final states with two muons and two taus

    The longstanding muon (gāˆ’2)(g-2) anomaly, as well as the persistent hints of lepton flavor universality violation in BB-meson decays, could be signaling new physics beyond the Standard Model (SM). A minimal RR-parity-violating supersymmetric framework with light third-generation sfermions (dubbed as 'RPV3') provides a compelling solution to these flavor anomalies, while simultaneously addressing other pressing issues of the SM. We propose a new RPV3 scenario for the solution of the muon (gāˆ’2)(g-2) anomaly, which leads to an interesting LHC signal of Ī¼+Ī¼āˆ’Ļ„+Ļ„āˆ’\mu^+\mu^-\tau^+\tau^- final state. We analyze the Run-2 LHC multilepton data to derive stringent constraints on the sneutrino mass and the relevant RPV coupling in this scenario. We then propose dedicated selection strategies to improve the bound even with the existing dataset. We also show that the high-luminosity LHC will completely cover the remaining muon (gāˆ’2)(g-2)-preferred parameter space, thus providing a robust, independent test of the muon (gāˆ’2)(g-2) anomaly.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figure
