Impact of sublethal concentration of triazophos on regulation of protein metabolism in the fish Channa punctatus (Bloch)
The fresh water fish is an important human food source in India and the fish is constantly exposed to pesticides which are used extensively to control agricultural pests. Insecticide triazophos organophosphates (OP) altered protein metabolism in the liver, brain and kidney tissues of the fish Channa punctatus (Bloch). The total protein when exposed to different time periods decreased and free amino acids increased significantly. The enzymes which are involved in protein metabolism were altered significantly. The increase in activity of deaminases reveals the breakdown of nucleo-tides to yield excess energy to overcome the toxic pressure. Exposure to sublethal doses of triazophos extract caused significant (p < 0.05) time and dose dependent reduction in the levels of total protein, acetylcholinesterase (AchE) and significant enhancement in the levels of total free amino acids, glutamine, adenosine monophosphate (AMP) deaminases, adenosine deaminases, glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH), aspartate aminotransferase (AAT), alanine aminotransferase (ALAT) and alkaline acid phosphatases, and the activity of enzyme protease in both liver, brain and kidney tissues of fresh water fish C. punctatus.Key words: Triazophos (OP), Lc50, protein metabolism, enzyme activity, Channa punctatus
Structural and Magnetic Hysteresis Properties of Co-Zr Substituted Hexagonal Barium Ferrites
Co-Zr substituted M-type hexagonal barium ferrites, with chemical formula BaCoxZrxFe12-2xO19 (where x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0), have been synthesized by double sintering ceramic method. The crystallographic properties, grain morphology and magnetic properties of these ferrites have been investigated by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM). The XRD patterns confirm the single phase with hexagonal structure of prepared ferrites. The magnetic properties have been investigated as a function of Co and Zr ion composition at an applied field in the range of 20 KOe. These studies indicate that the saturation magnetization (Ms) in the samples increases initially up to the Co-Zr composition of x=0.6 and decreases thereafter. On the other hand, the coercivity (Hc) and Remanent magnetization (Mr) are found to decrease continuously with increasing Co-Zr content. This property is most useful in permanent magnetic recording. The observed results are explained on the basis of site occupation of Co and Zr ions in the samples
Effect of integrated nutrient management on nitrogen dynamics in soil of rice -potato based cropping sequence
The integrated nutrient management (INM) has profound influence on sustaining crop productivity and fertility status of soil. The manurial field experiment was conducted at Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal for evaluating the performance of chemical fertilizer and organic manure on nitrogen availability in different forms in soil and also on the content of nitrogen in different parts of rice (Oryza sativa cv. Annada) and potato (Solanum tuberosum cv. Kufrijyoti) during different growth stages. Application of FYM and RDF150 in combination had good impact on nitrogen dynamics related to crop growth among other treatment combinations. FYM and RDF150 alone also imparted good impact on nutrient availability and yield of two experiment crops (rice and potato). Experiment revealed that incorporation of commercial concentrated organic manure with RDF150 exerted good impact besides FYM combination with inorganic fertilizers
EFFECT OF MOMORDICA CHARANTIA AND SYZYGIUM CUMINI EXTRACT ON SERUM ELECTROLYTES IN ALLOXAN INDUCED DIABETIC RATS
Objective: Diabetes is a group of disorders characterized by high blood glucose levels. Disturbances in serum electrolytes like sodium (Na+) and potassium (K+) are found in diabetes. The purpose of the study was to investigate the disturbances in concentrations of serum electrolytes in hyperglycemic crisis and the effect of syzygium cumini and momordica charantia standardized aqueous extracts on serum electrolytes (Na+and K+) in normal and diabetic rats. Methods: Diabetes is induced by intraperitoneal injection of alloxan at a dose of 120 mg/kg b. w in rats. Rats were divided into 5 groups (normal control, disease control, metformin, test 1 and test 2). In test groups 1 and 2, SASESC (standardized aqueous seed extract of syzygium cumini) and SAFEMC (standardized aqueous fruit extract of momordica charantia) were respectively administered orally to alloxan induced diabetic rats, and their serum electrolyte levels were observed at 1st, 4th, 7th and 14th days. Results: By the 14thday, the Na+ and K+ levels in groups 4 and 5 were almost normal. However, in group 3 (standard), Na+levels were relatively lower and K+ levels were relatively higher than groups 4 and 5 (test). In group 2 (disease control) as compared to group 1 (normal control), a decrease in Na+ and increase in K+ levels was observed even on day 14.Conclusion: Treatment with anti diabetic drugs like metformin, syzygium cumini (test-1), momordica charantia (test-2) restored the electrolyte levels almost back to normal over a period of study (14 d). There was significant (**P<0.01, *P<0.05) normalization of electrolyte levels in diabetic rats. It was concluded that syzygium cumini and momordica charantia showed better efficiency in restoring the electrolyte imbalance as compared to metformin during our study

An Event Detection Mechanism with Deep Feature Extraction and Optimal Loss Function Based XGBoost Classifier
Purpose: Interoceptions are a combination of sensation, integration, and interpretation of internal bodily signals. Interoceptions are bidirectionally related to the human being mental and physiological health, and well-being. Sleep and different interoceptive modalities are proven to share common relations.
Heartbeat Evoked Potential (HEP) is known as a robust readout to interoceptive processes. In this study, we focused on the relation between HEP modulations and sleep-related disorders.
Materials and Methods: We investigated four different sleep-related disorders, including insomnia, rapid eye movement behavior disorder, periodic limb movements and nocturnal frontal lobe epilepsy, and provided HEP signals of multiple Electroencephalogram (EEG) channels over the right hemisphere to compare these disorders with the control group. Here, we investigated and compared the results of 35 subjects, including seven subjects for the control group and seven subjects for each of above-mentioned sleep disorders.
Results: By comparing HEP responses of the control group with sleep-related patients’ groups, statistically significant HEP differences were detected over right hemisphere EEG channels, including FP2, F4, C4, P4, and O2 channels. These significant differences were also observed over the grand average HEP amplitude activity of channels over the right hemisphere in the sleep-related disorders as well.
Conclusion: Our results between the control group and groups of patients suffering from sleep-related disorders demonstrated that during different stages of sleep, HEPs show significant differences over multiple right hemisphere EEG channels. Interestingly, by comparing different sleep disorders with each other, we observed that each of these HEP differences’ patterns over specific channels and during certain sleep stages bear considerable resemblances to each other
