Efficacy and tolerability of a spray product containing hydroxypropyl chitosan, Climbazole and Piroctone olamine, applied twice weekly for the treatment of the Pitiriasis Versicolor
The aim of this study was to demonstrate the effectiveness of a product containing hydroxypropyl chitosan, Climbazole and Piroctone olamine, by monitoring the adherence and the penetration of the molecules in the skin. Confocal microscopy led us to show the persistence of the active compound for a long time in the stratum corneum, thanks to the presence of hydroxypropyl chitosan. This evidence suggests a new protocol of application (a biweekly application, rather than daily)
Aesthetic procedures side effects: Nodules and long lasting oedema in filler implantation
Side effects can occur after hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers injection. In this brief report, we present 5 cases of fillers injection's side effects: 4 patients with persistent nodules after HA injection into glabella, nasolabial folds, lips, and infraorbital area and 1 patient with long lasting oedema of the lip
Tyndall discoloration and filler injections: A possible side effect
One of the possible side effects that may occurred after injection of hyaluronic acid (HA) filler substances is the appearance of blue-grey discoloration of the skin in the site of injection due to the so called Tyndall effect. In this brief case report, we describe such adverse reaction occurred in a 48 years old female patient and its treatment
Evidence of silicene in honeycomb structures of silicon on Ag(111)
In the search for evidence of silicene, a two-dimensional honeycomb lattice
of silicon, it is important to obtain a complete picture for the evolution of
Si structures on Ag(111), which is believed to be the most suitable substrate
for growth of silicene so far. In this work we report the finding and evolution
of several monolayer superstructures of silicon on Ag(111) depending on the
coverage and temperature. Combined with first-principles calculations, the
detailed structures of these phases have been illuminated. These structure were
found to share common building blocks of silicon rings, and they evolve from a
fragment of silicene to a complete monolayer silicene and multilayer silicene.
Our results elucidate how silicene formes on Ag(111) surface and provide
methods to synthesize high-quality and large-scale silicene.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figure
A catalog of new Blazar candidates with Open Universe by High School students
Blazars are active galactic nuclei whose ultra-relativistic jets are
coaligned with the observer direction. They emit throughout the whole e.m.
spectrum, from radio waves to VHE gamma rays. Not all blazars are discovered.
In this work, we propose a catalog of 54 new candidates based on the
association of HE gamma ray emission and radio, X-ray an optical signatures.
The relevance of this work is also that it was performed by four high school
students from the Liceo Scientifico Statale Ugo Morin in Venice, Italy using
the open-source platform Open Universe, in collaboration with the University of
Padova. The framework of the activity is the Italian MIUR PCTO programme. The
success of this citizen-science experience and results are hereafter reported
and discussed.Comment: Proceedings of the 12th Cosmic Ray International Symposium (CRIS

Heteroepitaxial growth of ferromagnetic MnSb(0001) films on Ge/Si(111) virtual substrates
Molecular beam epitaxial growth of ferromagnetic MnSb(0001) has been achieved on high quality, fully relaxed Ge(111)/Si(111) virtual substrates grown by reduced pressure chemical vapor deposition. The epilayers were characterized using reflection high energy electron diffraction, synchrotron hard X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoemission spectroscopy, and magnetometry. The surface reconstructions, magnetic properties, crystalline quality, and strain relaxation behavior of the MnSb films are similar to those of MnSb grown on GaAs(111). In contrast to GaAs substrates, segregation of substrate atoms through the MnSb film does not occur, and alternative polymorphs of MnSb are absent
