Under the guidance of monetarist theory and the issue of dominance, this study is a survey of a rapidly growing literature on Fiscal Theory of Price Level, which opens up new horizons in a non –Ricardian world and questions the effectiveness of monetary policy on price level determination.inflation, price level, FTPL, non Ricardian

Under the guidance of different theories and the problem of dominance and activeness, this study gives a survey of the rapidly growing literature on Fiscal Theory of Price Level, which opens up new horizons in a non–Ricardian world and questions the effectiveness of monetary policy on price level determination.inflation, FTPL, non-Ricardian

Industrialization in Animal Agriculture: A Kalman Filter Analysis

Studies discussing the effects of technological developments on (animal) agricultural production argue that the effective usage of chemicals and genetic engineering increase control over production processes, which in turn decreases seasonality (one significant factor defining agricultural production) significantly and brings standardization to production. Studies on broilery also show that production is not limited by nature determined seasons. Supply side changes accompanied by changes in demand have led to more healthier, standardized products. Using tools of economics and statistics, this study documents this transformation in animal agricultural production of beef, pork and milk. Results indicate decreasing seasonality, thus the industralization of animal agriculture

Abstract

Background

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most frequently encountered tumor in the adult kidney. Many factors are known to take part in the development and progression of this tumor. Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-ÎșB) is a family of the genes that includes five members acting in events such as inflammation and apoptosis. In this study, the role of NF-ÎșB (p50 subunit) in ccRCC and its relation to angiogenesis and apoptosis were investigated.

Methods

Formalin-fixed and paraffin embedded tissue blocks from 40 patients with ccRCC were studied. Expressions of NF-ÎșB (p50), VEGF, EGFR, bc1-2 and p53 were detected immunohistochemically. The relationship of NF-ÎșB with these markers and clinicopathological findings were evaluated.

Results

The expression of NF-ÎșB was detected in 35 (85%), VEGF in 37 (92.5%), EGFR in 38 (95%), bc1-2 in 33 (82.5%) and p53 in 13 (32.5%) of 40 ccRCC patients. Statistical analyses revealed a significant relation between NF-ÎșB expression and VEGF (p = 0.001), EGFR (p = 0.004), bc1-2 (p = 0.010) and p53 (p = 0.037). There was no significant correlation between NF-ÎșB and such parameters as tumor grade, stage, age and sex.

Conclusion

The results of this study indicated that in ccRCC cases NF-ÎșB was associated with markers of angiogenesis and apoptosis such as VEGF, EGFR, bc1-2 and p53. In addition, the results did not only suggest a close relationship between NF-ÎșB and VEGF, EGFR, bc1-2 and p53 in ccRCC, but also indicate that NF-ÎșB was a potential therapeutic target in the treatment of ccRCC resistant to chemotherapy.</p

    POLITICAL DECISIONS, DEFENSE AND GROWTH

Considering the importance of military expenditures on political and economical success of a government, this empirical study analyzes the relations between political stability, economic growth and military expenditures. Based on the theoretical model developed by Blomberg (1996), the vector autoregression analyzes results for a democratic country and indicates the significance of military expenditures on political stability and private sector investment decisions.Defense, Political Stability, Growth, VAR,
