Comparação de dois testes de neutralização, utilizados no diagnóstico sorológico do vesiculovírus Piry

A serological survey of Piry was undertaken of the sera of inhabitants of Catolância - Bahia State, Brazil. Serum results obtained by a vesiculovirus neutralization test of C6/36 cells read by ELISA are compared with those obtained by the classic technique, carried out on newbom mice. The agreement between the results was as high as 98.7% of the 204 sera tested and the neutralization test of C6/36 cells was chosen as the most suitable technique for the sero-survey testing.Realizou-se inquérito sorológico para pesquisar anticorpos neutralizantes contra o vesiculovírus Piry, na cidade de Catolândia-Bahia-Brasil. Duas técnicas de vírus-neutralização foram comparadas em cultura das células C6/36, com revelação pelo método imunoenzimático ( TN-C6/36) e em camundongos recém-nascidos (TN-camundongos), que é considerada a prova maior. Em 204 soros, dos 1 .274 colhidos, a concordância das duas técnicas foi de 98,7% (K= 0,9853). Com este resultado do TN-C6/36, que também é mais exeqüível, decidiu-se desenvolver o estudo soro-epidemiológico do vesiculovírus Piry, em Catolândia, baseado nesta nova técnica

The role of government investment through regional state-owned companies is an effort to strengthen regional revenue originating from separated regional assets. The research method used is normative legal research method. The regional government in its position as the majority shareholder has the authority to manage, regulate and intervene in the management of regional state-owned companies. As the majority shareholder, the local government has authority that is not delegated to the board of directors and commissioners. Likewise with the application of the principles of good corporate governance. The role of local government is to supervise, monitor and evaluate the implementation of the principles of good corporate governance developed within the company, especially for directors, commissioners and employees

Minimising redundancy, maximising relevance: HRV feature selection for stress classification

Heart rate variability serves as a valuable indicator and biomarker for stress detection and monitoring. Feature selection, which aims to identify relevant features from a large set of variables, is a crucial preprocessing step towards this. However, this task becomes challenging due to high dimensionality and the presence of irrelevant and redundant attributes. The Minimum Redundancy and Maximum Relevance (mRMR) feature selection method addresses this challenge by selecting relevant features while controlling redundancy. This paper presents extensions and evaluated versions of the mRMR feature selection methods for stress detection using Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measures. The proposed feature selection methods extend the traditional mRMR by replacing the Pearson correlation redundancy with non-linear feature redundancy measures capable of capturing more complex relationships between variables. An extensive empirical evaluation is conducted on the proposed mRMR extensions, comparing them with four other baseline feature selection methods using three publicly available datasets. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of incorporating the nonlinear feature redundancy measure into the feature selection process

An ethno-zoological survey of insects and their allies among the remos (Ogun State) South Western Nigeria

The research was carried out to study the socio-economic  characteristic of the Remos of Ogan State of Ngeria; to determine their relationship with insects which they regard as edible, which theyuse for rituals and which they use for medicinal purposes.Two hundred and eighty-five questionnaires were administered. The data collected was analysed by using frequency counts and percentages. Common edible insects were found to include termites(Macrotermes bellicossus), cricket (Brachytrypes sp) and (Analeptes trifaciata). The insects used for rituals and medicinal purposes include the butterfly used for making love portion; Cryptotheliarongeoti used as a defense against any evil; Brachytrypes sp, Lycosa sp and Apis melifera used for good fortune. The honey bee (Apis melifera) is used to prevent dizziness, while the sting of Ant is usedfor healing wound, curing of impotence in males and is also used as a cure for “thunderbolt”. The study found that in this community insects are valuable for both food and medicinal purposes. It recommends that more work on medicinal and nutritional value of these insects be undertaken
