    Analysis of AC link topologies in non-isolated DC/DC triple active bridge converter for current stress minimization

    This paper presents analysis of the non-isolated DC/DC triple active bridge (TAB) converter under various purely inductor-based AC link topologies. The objective of the analysis is to find the topology that incorporates the least value of the AC link inductors which leads to reduced converter footprint in addition to minimum internal current stresses. Modelling of the TAB under each of the different topologies is presented in per unit expressions of power transfer and reactive power assuming fundamental harmonic analysis. The power expressions are used to calculate the inductor values necessary to achieve same rated power transfer of Dual Active Bridge (DAB) converter for the sake of standardizing comparison. On this basis, the topology requiring the least value of interface inductors, hence lowest footprint, is identified. Furthermore, based on phase shift control, particle swarm optimization (PSO) is used to calculate optimal phase shift ratios in each of the proposed topologies to minimize reactive power loss (hence current stress). The topology with minimum stresses is therefore identified and the results are substantiated using a Matlab-Simulink model to verify the theoretical analysis

    Generic closed loop controller for power regulation in dual active bridge DC-DC converter with current stress minimization

    This paper presents a comprehensive and generalized analysis of the bidirectional dual active bridge (DAB) DC/DC converter using triple phase shift (TPS) control to enable closed loop power regulation while minimizing current stress. The key new achievements are: a generic analysis in terms of possible conversion ratios/converter voltage gains (i.e. Buck/Boost/Unity), per unit based equations regardless of DAB ratings, and a new simple closed loop controller implementable in real time to meet desired power transfer regulation at minimum current stress. Per unit based analytical expressions are derived for converter AC RMS current as well as power transferred. An offline particle swarm optimization (PSO) method is used to obtain an extensive set of TPS ratios for minimizing the RMS current in the entire bidirectional power range of - 1 to 1 per unit. The extensive set of results achieved from PSO presents a generic data pool which is carefully analyzed to derive simple useful relations. Such relations enabled a generic closed loop controller design that can be implemented in real time avoiding the extensive computational capacity that iterative optimization techniques require. A detailed Simulink DAB switching model is used to validate precision of the proposed closed loop controller under various operating conditions.     Epidemiology, Outcomes And Prognostic Factors In Orbital Lymphoma In The United States

    Purpose: We performed an epidemiological study of orbital lymphoma in the United States to determine how histological subtypes confer differing prognosis, and understand other factors associated with survival. Methods: All patients in the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results database diagnosed with a histologically confirmed orbital lymphoma between 1973 and 2014 were included. Exclusion criteria included diagnosis at autopsy and the presence of other malignancies. Measures included patient demographic information, histological subtype and treatment modalities. Outcomes included overall and disease specific survival. Results: Of the 1504 cases identified, 702 were male (46.7%, mean age: 64.4 years, standard deviation [SD]: 15.3) and 802 were female (53.3%, mean age: 67.5 years, SD: 14.3). Mucosal associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) (49.5%) and diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) (19.5%) were the two most common histologic subtypes. MALT lymphoma conferred the best prognosis (10-year cancer specific survival [CSS] 90.2%, 95% Confidence Interval [CI] 87.4% – 93.1%) and DLBCL conferred the worst prognosis (10-year CSS 68.6%, 95% CI 62.5% – 75.3%) (p\u3c0.001, log-rank test). Older age above 50 (Hazard Ratio [HR]: 3.71, 95% Confidence Interval [CI]: 2.94-4.66, p\u3c0.001), male sex (HR: 1.22, 95% CI: 1.039-1.441, p = 0.015), no radiation (HR: 1.72, 95% CI: 1.46-2.02, p\u3c0.001) and DLBCL histology were significant predictors of worse overall survival. Conclusions: DLBCL histology confers the worst outcomes whereas MALT lymphoma confers the best outcome in orbital lymphoma. Age, gender, and radiation treatment also influence survival. These epidemiological results can be used clinically to communicate outcomes on the basis of patient characteristics and disease histology

    Parametric classification in domains of characters, numerals, punctuation, typefaces and image qualities

    This thesis contributes to the Optical Font Recognition problem (OFR), by developing a classifier system to differentiate ten typefaces using a single English character ‘e’. First, features which need to be used in the classifier system are carefully selected after a thorough typographical study of global font features and previous related experiments. These features have been modeled by multivariate normal laws in order to use parameter estimation in learning. Then, the classifier system is built up on six independent schemes, each performing typeface classification using a different method. The results have shown a remarkable performance in the field of font recognition. Finally, the classifiers have been implemented on Lowercase characters, Uppercase characters, Digits, Punctuation and also on Degraded Images

    Trust in Facebook Ads: a Cross-national Prospective

    This research paper aims to make a cross-national study about trust in Facebook ads (FB-ads) and Traditional Media ads (TM-ads), according to a sample of audiences from Egypt (EG) and Saudi Arabia (SA). The research based on an e-questionnaire, which was prepared after reviewing a number of literatures and semi-structured interviews. The validity of survey instrument and the reliability of the gathering data were tested. The questionnaire was prepared to explore the opinions of Facebook users from EG & SA. Data were collected through, “Facebook” & “Google Drive”. In total 812 respondents responded to the questionnaire, after canceling unsuitable cases. This total includes 428 Egyptians and 384 Saudis. It provides useful information for advertisers about impacts of Gender, Age and Education on the trust in FB-ads & TM-ads, according to Egyptians & Saudis.
