The Assessment of Deer (Cervus elaphus) Trophies

    Get PDF
The red deer (Cervus elaphus) population’s potential for trophy value from the 34 Neagra and 35 Sălard hunting areas on the Northern slope of the Gurghiu Mountains has been analysed and evaluated, based on a number of 42 red deer trophies taken between 2000-2014. The trophies were evaluated using the C.I.C. method, which was adopted at the “Conseil International de la Chasse†in Berlin in 1937. A description of the C.I.C. method and the score for the 42 trophies is included in the study. The result of the analysis shows that 50% of the total number of trophies are high value trophies (gold and silver medal), indicating the remarkable overall quality of the red deer population in the research area

Methods of Age Estimation by Dentition in Sus scrofa ferus sp.

In this study we present the practical method of age estimation by dentition in European wild boar Sus scrofa ferus. The dentition age estimation at this species is extremely important for establishing correlations between it and aspects of the body conformation and trophy value, in a strong linkage with the area bonitation, with the population genetic value and veterinary health status. We present the deciduous and permanent teeth aspect, at different ages: four months, six months, one year, one and a half years, two years, two and a half years, three years, five years, seven years, nine years and more. There are illustrated the aspects of incisors, canines, premolars and molars. Those aspects were confirmed by estimations made on 234 wild boars collected from Transylvania, in 2008 and 2009

CONTROL OF SOME PATHOGENS BY USING SPECIAL FOLIAR FERTILIZERS

The present work points out to the interdisciplinary experimental results, obtained in the experimental fields of the Plant Protection and Soil Science Department, as well as at data which stress upon the interdependency between the satisfaction of the trophically needs of the wheat plants and the aggressiveness of the pathogens which cause the disease. The experimental results underline the fact that the attack level expressed through intensity and attack degree is different, both with the “out of root” fertilized variants and with the soil fertilization variants. The conclusions which come off the study of the obtained data point out at the fact that the fertilizer application, no matter the method, determines the growth or the regress of the attack degree. They also have an influence upon the Puccinia striformis f.sp. tritici, Blumeria graminis and, Septoria spp. fungus manifestation
