Alteration in corticospinal excitability following ankle joint manipulation
Therapeutic effects of joint manipulation (JM) largely have been attributed to changes in local tissues. Alteration in peripheral nerve function following joint manipulation has been documented. Recent studies suggest a possible role of the central nervous system in mediating changes in mobility after JM. The purpose of this study was to record changes in corticospinal excitability (CE) using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) due to ankle JM, and to correlate CE following ankle JM with changes in behavior and ankle range of motion
