    Simulation of Deformation of Ni Twinned Nanocrystal Model by Molecular Dynamics

    Molecular dynamics simulation of nickel crystal under uniaxial tensile and compressive deformation was performed for single nenocrystal model and twinned nanocrystal model composed of 1550 atoms using EAM (embedded atom method) potential with the object of investigating deformation induced phase tranformation (especially twin deformation). In the case of single nanocrystal model, the evolution and development of twin deformation, (111)[11(2)], is observed under compressive loading in [001] direction, whereas either slip or twin deformation is not recognized under tensile loading. In the case of twinned nanocrystal model, twin, (111)[11(2)], decreases and disappears under tensile loading, and develops under compressive loading, It is suggested from the difference of results between single nanocrystal model and twinned nanocrystal model that it is easy for twin to induce local deformation

    Küttner's tumor of the sub-mandibular gland associated with fibrosclerosis and follicular hyperplasia of regional lymph nodes: a case report

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Introduction</p> <p>Küttner's tumor is characterized through histology by peri-ductal fibrosis, dense lymphocytic infiltration with lymphoid follicles, loss of acini, and occasional marked sclerosis of the salivary gland. On occasion, Küttner's tumor can be difficult to distinguish from malignant neoplasm.</p> <p>Case presentation</p> <p>A 58-year-old Japanese man was referred to our hospital with a three-month history of a painless swollen mass in the right sub-mandibular region. Histological findings revealed both lymphoid follicles with reactive germinal centers and variously sized lymphoid follicle-like nodules without definitive germinal centers or mantle zones. B-cells of similar size and shape occupied the lymphoid follicle-like nodules and stained positive for B-cell lymphoma. These cells were detected in the polyclonal B-cells by flow cytometric analysis and tested negative for CD10. Unusual B-cell proliferation was observed, but as there was no definitive evidence of B-cell lymphoma, the lesion was diagnosed as Küttner's tumor.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>We report on a rare case of Küttner's tumor associated with fibrosclerosis and atypical lymphoid hyperplasia in both the sub-mandibular gland and regional lymph nodes. Although more cases need to be investigated, our findings might be helpful to further studies seeking to clarify the etiology of idiopathic sclerosing lesions arising in the organs and regional lymph nodes.</p

    Semi-classical consideration of velocity overshoot effect on transport noise in short-channel MOSFETs

    This paper examines the characteristics of transport noise created by carrier-density fluctuation in MOSFETs with various channel lengths down to 0.1μm using a semi-classical theoretical scheme. The carrier-density fluctuation is derived from a partial differential equation on the basis of charge-density conservation. The theoretical expression for the spectral density of carrier-density fluctuation power is applied to the analysis of transport noise in a high-frequency range. At first, we discuss how the characteristics of fluctuation power are influenced by channel length. As channel length is reduced, the high frequency component of fluctuation power is enhanced, and interference between the forward and backward propagating carrier-density fluctuation power components becomes significant. Next, we discuss the spectral density of drain current noise for various channel lengths. As channel length is reduced, the spectral density increases through the increase in carrier velocity. At short channel lengths, such as 0.1μm, the velocity overshoot effect becomes significant. We discuss the influence of the velocity overshoot effect on drain current noise spectral density for the channel length of 0.1μm. When the velocity overshoot effect is taken into account, the drain current noise spectral density is enhanced, and the high frequency component of drain current noise spectral density is also enhanced. It is predicted that the transport noise stemming from carrier-density fluctuation would be significant in 0.1-μm channel MOSFETs

Iaban’i Totôry belonged to the Anakara Clan and lived in a village called Vatomasina in the Antemoro region (in the valley of the Matatàña River). He was known to be the grandson of a famous religious chief in his village, and was close with the French colonial administration in his region, with whom he also shared the material. The original author of the material is unknown. The material was photographed between 1983 and 1990. The pages were made out of a local plant called harandrànto in Malagasy, likely of the genus Afzelia. The material was bound in zebu skin and sinew. While the exact content of material is unknown, it is believed to contain guidance for charms, divination, and healing through prayers, geomancy, and astrology

    For modern constantly developing societies, it is normal to create categories in the process of the activity of the participants of socio-economic processes themselves. Practice is theoretical, and theory is pragmatic, because it creates those concepts in which «practice» exists and develops. Such a category is "social entrepreneurship", which is "umbrella" for a number of socio-economic phenomena. The general term for social entrepreneurship includes those types of entrepreneurial activity that contradict the traditional notion of entrepreneurship as an activity of independent economic entities aimed at maximizing their profits. The development of social entrepreneurship is an indicator of the quality of the business climate in the region and requires a set of measures to ensure the mechanism and access of non-governmental organizations to the provision of services in the social sphere, the provision of state support to socially-oriented non-profit organizations, and the promotion of the development of PPP practices in the social sphere

    The RECK tumor-suppressor protein binds and stabilizes ADAMTS10

    The tumor suppressor protein RECK has been implicated in the regulation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), NOTCH-signaling and WNT7-signaling. It remains unclear, however, how broad the spectrum of RECK targets extends. To find novel RECK binding partners, we took the unbiased approach of yeast two-hybrid screening. This approach detected ADAMTS10 as a RECK-interactor. ADAMTS10 has been characterized as a metalloproteinase involved in fibrillin-rich microfibril biogenesis, and its mutations have been implicated in the connective tissue disorder Weill-Marchesani syndrome. Experiments in vitro using recombinant proteins expressed in mammalian cells indicated that RECK indeed binds ADAMTS10 directly, that RECK protects ADAMTS10 from fragmentation following chemical activation and that ADAMTS10 interferes with the activity of RECK to inhibit MT1-MMP. In cultured cells, RECK increases the amount of ADAMTS10 associated with the cells. Hence, the present study has uncovered novel interactions between two molecules of known clinical importance, RECK and ADAMTS10
